Abstract

The present invention provides a voice-generating electronic book comprising a book and a voice-generating device which generates the contents of the book through voice, which is highly useful for the language education of children. The voice-generating electronic book according to the present invention comprises a voice generating device which comprises a power source installed on one side of the voice generating device, a replaceable memory card which stores voice data and is built in the voice generating device, and a plurality of selection buttons and means for outputting voice which are arranged on the front panel of the voice generating device; and a book which is combined with the voice generating device and which contains pictures and texts corresponding to the voice data stored in the memory card. The user cam hear the contents of the book through voice by pressing the selection button of the voice generating device.

Description

A VOICE-GENERATING ELECTRONIC BOOK
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a voice-generating electronic book comprising a book and a voice-generating device which reproduces contents of the book through voice. The electronic book can be used in language education of children.
Background of the Invention
Conventional illustrated book for children needs a person who can read the book for children who cannot read the book but want to leam language.
Recently, many books are written in foreign language for foreign language education of children, but it is difficult for children to read the book by themselves, and other family member also has difficulty in reading the book for children because of the difficulty in pronunciation.
At present, various commercial products for language education of children have been developed but no one is combined with a book. As mentioned above, children can leam language through the aid of family members who can read a book for them, but the language learning device which directly combines a book has not been developed.
Disclosure of the Invention
Recognizing the problems of prior art as mentioned above, one object of the present invention is to provide a voice-generating electronic book comprising a book and a voice-generating device which can output the contents of the book through voice. Another object of the invention is to standardize the specification of the voice-generating device which is combined with the book so that one voice-generating electronic book can be applied to various kinds of books. In order to achieve the object, the present invention discloses a voice generating electronic book comprising a voice generating device which comprises a power source installed on one side of the voice generating device, a replaceable memory card which stores voice data and is built in the voice generating device, and a plurality of selection buttons and means for outputting voice which are arranged on the front panel of the voice generating device; and a book which is combined with the voice generating device and which contains pictures and texts corresponding to the voice data stored in the memory card, whereby voice corresponding to the pictures and the texts of the book is generated by pressing the selection button of the voice generating device.

Best Mode for Carrying out the Invention
Preferable embodiment of the present invention will be described detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. Fig. 1 is a perspective view illustrating the state of opened book of the present invention, Fig.2 is a perspective view of the voice-generating device of the present invention, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the electronic book of the present invention.
As shown in the figures, the voice-generating electronic book of the present invention comprises a voice generating device 8 which comprises a power source installed on one side of the voice generating device, a replaceable memory card which stores voice data and is built in the voice generating device, and a plurality of selection buttons and means for outputting voice which are arranged on the front panel of the voice generating device; and a book 2 which is combined with the voice generating device and which contains pictures and texts corresponding to the voice data stored in the memory card, whereby voice corresponding to the pictures and the texts of the book is generated by pressing the selection button of the voice generating device.
In other words, the electronic book of the present invention is composed of a book and a voice- generating device which outputs the contents of the book through voice.
The specification and content of the book 2, which is stored in the memory of the voice- generating device and played by pressing selection button, is made to coincide with the voice- generating device 8 so that the book can be combined with the voice-generating device.
Preferably, the voice memory of the voice-generating device is installed by inserting a memory card through the inserting slot 22 which is installed on one side of the voice-generating device.
Preferably, the selection buttons comprise a plurality of book selection buttons 10 for selecting a specific book among books combined with the voice generating device, a plurality of page selection buttons 14 for selecting a specific page of the book, a plurality of content selection buttons 20 for selecting specific pictures or texts in the selected page of the book, a page play button 16 for continuously generating the whole contents of the selected page through voice, and a book play button 12 for continuously generating the whole contents of the book which is selected by the book selection button.
The selection buttons 10, 12, 14 and 16 are preferably placed on the front panel of the voice- generating device, but not limited to this location.
The content selection buttons 20 are formed on the front end of the content selection button fixing stand 18 which is protruded from the front panel of one side of the voice generating device, and an inserting slot 6 is formed at the place corresponding to the content selection button fixing stand 18 so that the content selection button fixing stand 18 can be inserted through the inserting slot 6, and the content selection buttons 20 formed on the content selection button fixing stand 18 are protruded over the inserting slot 6. The content selection button fixing stand 18 can be formed on one side over the front panel of the voice-generating device, and more preferably on the center of one page of the combined book.
Also, the size and shape of the book should be made so that opened book coincides with the size and shape of front panel of the voice-generating device.
The voice output means of the voice-generating device, as shown in Fig.2, comprises a speaker 24 which is installed so that the upper surface is exposed on one surface of the voice-generating device, and inserting jack 26 for external voice output device.
The external voice output device, which is connected to the inserting jack 26, can be external speaker or earphone.
Also, the above power source preferably comprises a battery inserting slot 28 and power supply adaptor inserting slot 30 which are formed on one side of the voice generating device, and can be equipped with electric codes which can be connected to an external source.
Further, a power button 32 for introducing or cutting the power supplied by power source may be used.
The battery inserting slot enables using the voice-generating electronic book of the present invention conveniently outside as well as indoors.
Now, the mechanism of the function of the electronic book of the present invention will be described in detail.
First, the voice-generating device 8 of the present invention is combined with the book 2. These are easily combined by inserting the content selection button fixing stand 18 of the voice- generating device 8 into the inserting slot 6 of the book 2.
After combining the book voice-generating device, the type of the book combined is input to the voice-generating device by pressing the number corresponding to the book combined by using the book selection button. Turning the page, the voice-generating device recognizes corresponding page by pressing the number by using the page selection buttons 14, which corresponds to the opened page which is printed in advance on one surface of the book ( printed at the upper center of the book in Fig.4). Next, by pressing the number, through content selection button 20 of the voice generating device, corresponding to specific picture or text of the page, which is preferably printed in advance on the page, voice corresponding to the content selected, which is stored in the memory, is output through voice outputting means, and user can read the contents of book while hearing the voice enhancing the effect of education.
Besides, the whole contents of the selected page can be played continuously by pressing the page play button 20 of the voice generating device.
Moreover, when a specific book is selected by pressing the book selection button 10, the whole content of the selected book is played continuously through voice by pressing the book play button 12 of the voice generating device. In this case, the user can read the book continuously turning the pages of the book in order.
Industrial Applicability
By using the voice-generating book of the present invention, user can selectively watch and hear contents that he wants, and children can easily leam the language through the book without losing interest.
Also, the voice-generating book of the present invention is cost-effective since a plurality of books can be stored in a single memory card.
In addition, language education for children can be accomplished step by step through the voice generating book of the present invention. For example, first, the child reads a book hearing the voice, then only hears the voice through the voice generating device, and then reads and studies the book. Claims

ClaimsWhat is claimed is:
1. A voice generating electronic book comprising: a voice generating device which comprises a power source installed on one side of said voice generating device, a replaceable memory card which stores voice data and is built in said voice generating device, and a plurality of selection buttons and means for outputting voice which are arranged on the front panel of said voice generating device; and a book which is combined with said voice generating device and which contains pictures and texts corresponding to the voice data stored in said memory card, whereby voice corresponding to the pictures and the texts of said book is generated by pressing the selection button of said voice generating device.
2. The voice generating electronic book of claim 1 , wherein said selection buttons comprise a plurality of book selection buttons for selecting a specific book among books combined with said voice generating device; a plurality of page selection buttons for selecting a specific page of the book; a plurality of content selection buttons for selecting specific pictures or texts in the selected page of the book; a page play button for continuously generating the whole contents of the selected page through voice; and a book play button for continuously generating the whole contents of the book which is selected by the book selection button.

The voice generating electronic book of claim 2, wherein said content selection buttons are formed on the front end of the content selection button fixing stand which is protruded from the front panel of one side of the voice generating device, an inserting slot is formed at the place corresponding to said content selection button fixing stand so that said content selection button fixing stand can be inserted through said inserting slot, and said content selection buttons formed on the content selection button fixing stand are protruded over the inserting slot.
4. The voice generating electronic book of claim 1, wherein said means for outputting voice is a speaker which is installed so that the upper face is exposed on one surface of the voice-generating device, and inserting jack for external voice output device.
5. The voice generating electronic book of claim 1, wherein said power source comprises battery- inserting slot which is formed on the side of the voice-generating device and a power supply adaptor-inserting slot.
