Abstract

In particularly sensitive cell systems the charging current of each individual cell must be individually regulated so that overcharging of individual cells and destruction thereof is prevented. It is known that the tension of each individual cell should be measured. The charging method can be simplified considerably wherein the cell voltage of two battery cells (n,n+1) is compared by means of a voltage comparison circuit (U1,U2) and the charging current of the battery cell is at least partially shunted with the respectively higher voltage after a predetermined difference of the cell voltage is exceeded. The inventive method is particularly suitable for charging lithium-ion cells.
