- Mitral valve reconstruction rings are used in cardiac surgery in the presence of mitral regurgitation or mitral regurgitation.
- this object is achieved by a design with two curved brackets and two struts connecting them to one another, the struts being made of a material which allows the struts to be shortened to shorten them.
- the material of the struts is chosen so that the shortening of the struts caused by the cranking is permanent, but the struts themselves are flexible.
- the struts can also be attached in an articulated manner to the brackets in order to enable them to tilt relative to the bracket.
- one bracket is curved more than the other bracket.
- An embodiment is particularly preferred in which the struts extend at an angle to one another between the brackets.
- the mitral valve reconstruction ring shown in Fig. 1 consists of two curved brackets 10, 12 and two struts 14, 16 connecting them together.
- One bracket 10 is more curved than the other bracket 12, the struts 14, 16 do not extend in the embodiment shown parallel but form an angle to each other.
- the bracket is covered with a fabric that allows the mitral valve reconstruction ring to be sewn onto the ostium of the mitral valve.
- the struts 14, 16, as shown in FIG. 3 are cranked using suitable pliers, as a result of which the distance between the brackets 10, 12 is shortened . Since the depth of the cranking of the struts which can be seen in FIG. 3 determines the extent of the shortening of the distance between the two brackets 10, 12, an intraoperative adaptation to the respective conditions can take place.
