Description

Device for remote monitoring, management and control of several sites from a central point, using self-configurable beacons.
The invention relates to centralized technical management. Its purpose is to improve, by making them more flexible, more economical and more efficient, the installations used for monitoring, managing and piloting a plurality of remote sites from one another from a central point. The fields of application of the invention cover all the fields of application of centralized technical management, namely remote monitoring and remote management. The user sectors are therefore extremely large and include in particular housing, industry, agriculture and leisure. More generally, the invention finds its applications in all cases where it is necessary to monitor, manage or control remotely a plurality of remote sites from each other, without it being possible or desirable, for technical or economic reasons , to create a wire link between the different sites and the central point. The invention applies more specifically to surveillance, management or piloting beacons communicating with a central unit by a non-wired link, preferably carried out by radio.
Many solutions have been proposed for realizing centralized technical management systems. In all cases, there is on the one hand a central unit, most often comprising an information processing module and a transmission reception module and on the other hand a plurality of beacons communicating with the central unit either over the air, either by wire, or by light or infrared. However, it is noted that the current design and embodiment of the beacons in all cases requires the production of specific beacons, or, at the very least, specifically adapted for each of the applications of centralized technical management. In addition, within the same application, we may need to provide certain tags with differentiated functions or roles: some tags have a simple role of issuing alerts, others are used to transmit orders, still others have to memorize information. Manufacturers of centralized technical management systems must therefore create specific tags for each application, and within each application, tags adapted to the different functions desired. Although a certain number of common elements are used, such as casings, power supply cards and certain logic cards, the cost of design and production of these various beacons remains particularly high, which is not compatible with the wide dissemination of centralized technical management systems which should be brought about by the numerous possibilities offered by them. This state of affairs is explained by the purchase price of the unitary components making it possible to confer on a beacon such or such characteristic, and by the cost of the implementation of said components inside a beacon. Certain systems offered on the market do indeed use relatively standardized tags, but, in this case, it can be seen, on the one hand, that these tags include a large number of components in excess of the functions required of them, components whose cost of purchasing and setting up the cost of the systems and on the other hand that the cost of adapting these beacons to the desired functions represents a significant obstacle, given the level of qualification required for the people carrying out this adaptation.
The invention proposes to realize centralized technical management systems incorporating tags whose design and embodiment allows to overcome the drawbacks mentioned above. More generally, the invention is characterized by an architecture of beacons which is compatible not only with the use of a single type of beacons for very different applications from each other, but also with the allocation of a among several different functions, as required, to each of these tags used within the framework of the same application.
A main objective of the invention is to propose remote monitoring and remote management systems which are easily adaptable to extremely varied uses, while using standardized beacons identical to each other and mass produced.
A complementary objective of the invention is to facilitate the configuration operations for the beacons, and to ensure that these operations can be carried out including by users or visitors to sites equipped with said beacons, even when these users do not have no special skills. An additional objective of the invention is to allow a very significant reduction in the cost prices of the components of the centralized technical management systems, as well as a clear reduction in the costs of design, installation and operation of such systems. Ultimately, the present invention aims, thanks to the flexibility of use and the economies of scale which it generates, to widen the field of application of centralized technical management.
These objectives, as well as others which will appear subsequently, are achieved by means of installations comprising, in a conventional manner, on the one hand a central unit comprising a system for processing and memorizing information and a unit for transmission / reception and on the other hand a plurality of beacons intended to be installed in the sites to be monitored, managed or controlled from the central unit.
An essential advantage of the invention is that, instead of using beacons designed and produced for each of the applications and for each function and / or series of functions within the framework of the same application, the centralized technical management systems according to the invention uses only one single type of beacon whose design and embodiment allows not only the use in particularly varied applications but also the specialization, carried out particularly easily and quickly, of each beacon one or more functions chosen by the user.
An additional advantage of the invention is that the functions assigned to such and such a tag are not fixed once and for all, but can be very easily and very quickly modified by the system operator, or even by such user having adequate keys .
Another advantage of the proposed system is that this possibility of adapting the same tags to different applications, and, within the framework of the same application, to different functions, is obtained not at the cost of an increased complexity of said tags, but, on the contrary, thanks to a simplification and a rationalization of the production of these elements, which makes it possible to significantly lower their cost price and their installation cost.
These advantages are conferred on the tags by the fact that they consist of a main card comprising a component of the "Applied Silicon" type. Integreted Circuit ", that is to say" Integrated circuit on a silicone chip having a determined application "commonly known under the name" ASIC "which will be used in the rest of this description, connected on the one hand to a module configuration, these two elements being connected to each other by at least 13 wired links, 3 of these links being assigned to the frequency selection and the ten others being used to give the tag the desired functions and on the other hand to a terminal block intended to receive information and / or energy or to issue orders from or to the medium. The ASIC component is self configurable. In other words, this component will be capable of receiving and memorizing information. which will have the effect of giving it a given state. This information will come, on the one hand, from the configuration module integrated into the tag to which this component is connected and, on the other hand , over the air, from the central point during each communication sequence initiated by the latter; thus, the intervals and the duration of the interrogations, that is to say the windowing, can be ordered at each beacon which will conform to these instructions for the following cycle. Consequently, from strictly identical tags and mass produced, the manufacturer or installer of the system will be able to adapt these elements to a given application. In a second step, the user will confer, by means of the configuration module and the connection terminal block and orders issued by the central point, one of several possible functions to each of the beacons located on the site to be managed or monitored.
D'autres avantages et caractéristiques de l'invention apparaîtront à la lecture suivante d'un mode de réalisation préférentiel de l'invention, donné à simple titre indicatif, et des dessins annexés dans lesquels:Other advantages and characteristics of the invention will appear on the following reading of a preferred embodiment of the invention, given for information only, and of the appended drawings in which:
La FIGURE 1 représente un schéma d'ensemble d'un dispositif de gestion technique centralisée.FIGURE 1 represents an overall diagram of a centralized technical management device.
La FIGURE 2 représente une vue extérieure d'une balise selon l'invention.FIGURE 2 shows an exterior view of a beacon according to the invention.
La FIGURE 3 représente le mode de connexion des différents éléments internes caractérisant une Balise selon l'invention.FIGURE 3 represents the mode of connection of the various internal elements characterizing a Beacon according to the invention.
It can be seen that the device according to the invention has several levels of intervention. The first level is the site which must benefit from surveillance or monitoring. On this site, a plurality of sensors (12) are installed, actuators (13) or counters (14). By sensor is meant, for example, temperature or humidity probes, level or pH detectors, fire or intrusion detectors. The actuators are relays for starting and regulating motors or machines. The counters are for example circuits emitting a pulse per unit event occurring on the process to be monitored. Each sensor (12), actuator (13) or counter (14) installed on the site is connected to a beacon (10). In a variant, a beacon can be associated with several sensors and / or actuators. Each beacon is provided with an antenna (11) which allows it to exchange radio signals with a master beacon (20) located at the information centralization point. This master beacon (20) which transmits and receives information via an antenna * (21) is connected to a motherboard (22), the latter being able to restore the information which it collects, for example by means of 'a printer. The assembly of a master beacon (21) and a motherboard (22) constitutes a central point, which represents the second level of a device according to the invention. Between a master beacon (20) and the site beacons that it is capable of controlling, beacons whose number is between 1 and 512, we will choose to carry out all the radio links on a single frequency, called site frequency . Note that it is possible to select up to 9 different frequencies; as a result, we will be able to manage up to 9 different sites or zones, each comprising up to 512 tags. We will then have 9 master tags, connected to as many motherboards. Each of the motherboards can be connected to an information processing system (24) preferably constituted by a microcomputer of IBM-PC type (registered trademark of International Business machine) or compatible, which constitutes the third level of the device according to the invention. The connection between the information processing system (24) and the motherboard (s) (22) can be carried out using the switched telephone network (23), each of the motherboards (22) being provided with a modem and a device for memorizing and automatically dialing numbers. In addition, the connection of motherboards (22) to the switched telephone network (23) allows the use of simple mini stations to consult the state of the system, or even to send orders to it.
It can therefore be seen that the architecture of the device according to the invention makes it possible to envisage extremely varied applications, and this while benefiting from great flexibility in the design and implementation of the systems. We will note in particular that the systems produced are not fixed but can evolve according to the needs of the users.
In fact, once a device according to the invention is installed, it is possible to add as many site tags as necessary (within the limit of 512 tags per site). It is also possible to change the assignments of this or that beacon, simply by acting on the configuration module (2) with which the said beacon is provided, and, possibly by changing the sensors (12), actuators (13) or counters ( 14) to which it is connected via its terminal block (5). Finally, and this aspect is particularly important, we can also decide to assign one or more site tags to a central point different from the one to which they were originally connected by radio; it suffices to act on the configuration module (2) which is connected to the main component of the beacon, namely the ASIC (1) self-configurable, as illustrated in Figure 3.
This main component of the ASIC type (1) consists of a silicon chip, of small thickness compared to its surface, into which digital circuits have been integrated on the one hand and analog circuits on the other hand. In a variant, this component may be split: in this case, a component specialized in the processing of digital information, and a component specialized in the processing of analog information, will be used, these two components being connected together so as to behave like a single and same component. The simple or split element is in any case connected to the outside by a plurality of wired connections commonly called inputs / outputs, at least 13 of which are connected to a configuration module (2). The design of the ASIC (1) allows it to perform different functions depending on the state of the configuration module (2) to which it is connected. Likewise, this ASIC is designed in such a way that it can react to any of the 9 possible frequencies depending on the state in which the configuration module (2) is located to which it is connected. The main component (1) comprises a large number of inputs / outputs (about 80); among these inputs / outputs, at least 13 are connected by wire links to the configuration module (2) of which 3 (F0, F1, F2) are assigned to the determination, depending on the state of the configuration module, of the operating frequency of the beacon and the at least 10 others (SO to S9) are assigned to the designation, always according to the state of this same configuration module, functions to be fulfilled by the tag (10).
The configuration module (2) can be produced very simply from a plurality of switches (6) (switches which can take at least two different positions) or jumpers. We will therefore give each site tag a frequency, an address, and a function by simple changes of positions of the switches (6) with which the configuration module (2) is provided. Insofar as said configuration module (2) comprises at least 13 elements capable of each taking 2 different positions, this module may be in at least 13 power 2, ie 169 different states. Once this configuration operation has been carried out and therefore one of the possible states given to each of the site beacons, the master beacons (20) can successively interrogate each of the site beacons (10) and monitor or control the process.
However, we have seen that one of the main advantages of the system was to allow, thanks to the embodiment of the ASIC components, very numerous and very rapid configuration changes and assignment of site tags according to the evolution of process monitoring and / or steering needs. However, the installation of jumpers or the change of position of switches constitutes a tedious operation, as soon as one has a large number of site tags; furthermore, these operations can only be entrusted to persons with adequate training. For a certain number of applications, it may prove advantageous to make use of the very numerous modification possibilities offered by the monitoring and control device according to the invention, including by users and by the public.
For this purpose, the configuration module (2) will advantageously be connected to a device for reading information (3) contained on a magnetic strip, said device being connected to the configuration module (2) and therefore to the inputs / outputs ( F0, F1, F2 and S0, S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, S8, S9) by means of a decoder (4) comprising the means of modifying the state in which the configuration module (2) according to the information contained on the magnetic strip and transmitted by the reading device (3). We therefore understand that it is possible, thanks to this reconfiguration device Instant beacons by magnetic card, to make the most of the great flexibility offered by the installations according to the invention. To this end, users will be provided, at the same time as the installation, with a plurality of magnetic cards, each card corresponding to one of the many configurations that can be given to a beacon.
For example, if the installation is used to monitor an industrial unit, an employee can go around the unit and have each site tag read that they have been asked to modify, the card bearing the adapted number. In the case of an installation used to monitor a leisure center, each user will be able to receive a magnetic card which he will simply have to read by the beacon when entering a room or a field; this action will have the effect of triggering a certain number of actions on the site (opening the doors, switching on the lighting, etc.) and sending the necessary information to the central point. In this type of example, the information concerning the identification of the user, information contained on the magnetic strip, could be transmitted to the central point by the site tag.
Of course, the above examples are not limiting and it is possible to use installations according to the invention in very many other applications, such as the monitoring and management of ski resorts, marinas, hospitals , hotels, small and medium-sized towns, agricultural or wine-growing facilities and industrial sites. These installations can be permanently installed or even set up for a limited period, so as for example to carry out a measurement campaign on a given site.
The above description is given for information only and other embodiments of the installations can be chosen using the tags described above without departing from the scope of the present invention.
