Abstract

The apparatus is of the type comprising a frame (1) having the general shape of a gun provided with a grip (2) and receiving a moving carriage (5) for a removable syringe (31) with needle (33) and piston (34). It is characterized in that it is fitted with a single drive element, here a fluid distributor (12-13), connected only to a pusher (7) held bearing against the piston (34) of the syringe. The kinematic connection is of the one way type. The carriage (5) is associated to a fixed stop (25) at a distance (D1) shorter that the possible total stroke (D2) of the slide (13). Thus, in the back-to-front direction, the driven pusher (7) pushes the piston (34)-syringe (31)-carriage (5) assembly by bearing on the product (A) held in the syringe. When the carriage (5) meets the stop (25) it is stopped and the syringe (31) is motionless, but the pusher (7) continues its stroke and forces the product (A) to flow through the needle (33). In the front-to-back direction, a rod (10) integral with the slide (13) brings back the carriage (5) by a stop (14) which is arranged thereon and this motion drives the syringe (31)-piston (34)-pusher (7) (the latter being now free) assembly to go simultaneously backwards. The carriage and the syringe (31) are back to their starting position while the piston (34) moves back to a slightly shorter distance which is function of the dose of product (A) pushed by said piston during the preceding back-to-front stroke.

C'est ainsi que l'on connaît déjà des dispositifsTo implement this method, one can act manually by carrying out these injections with a syringe of conventional type. 5 However, this way of acting is inconvenient, insecure and slow so that a device is generally used which supports a common syringe and which has a shape which facilitates its gripping, in particular the shape of a pistol. This is how devices are already known.

The structure of the mechanism is known per se since it
In a direction of movement the member II is in the wedging position and pushes the rod 3 while in the opposite direction the member II is released and returns to its primitive position without stressing the rod 3. The invention does indeed require the presence of a one-way mechanism but it can be of any known type. Document FR-A-78 / 01.459 is therefore irrelevant and in no way suggests coordination of the movements of the plunger on the one hand and of the body of the syringe on the other.
Document DE-A-3.026.318 describes a device with which a complete syringe must be associated. But, unlike the invention, a mechanism. in this case a spring 20) acts permanently on the piston and on the syringe body in the direction of extraction of the needle and injection of liquid. This action is only interrupted by a friction brake 31 which is neutralized by the operator acting on the handle. Just keep the handle 7 pressed so that all the liquid contained in the syringe is injected.
This device also does not suggest the solution of the invention which solves the problem of carrying out, from a single syringe, a plurality of successive and metered injections. I * a present invention relates to a device of the kind described above but which has only one motor element and a limited number of parts, so that the assembly is very simple to construct and , therefore, can be made under a very low weight, facilitating its use.
To this end, the subject of the invention is an apparatus for carrying out injections of liquids into the flesh of living beings, humans and animals, of the type comprising on the one hand a portable frame which preferably has the general shape of '' a pistol and which receives a longitudinally movable carriage for a removable syringe with needle and drawer, as well as a longitudinally movable plunger intended to act on the syringe drawer and, on the other hand, motor means corresponding to the displacement of carriage and movement of the pusher, characterized in that the drive means are connected to the pusher by a one-way mechanism of any known type for ensuring the movement of the pusher in a first direction corresponding to the insertion of the drawer into the syringe and to leave it free in the opposite direction, while the carriage is free in said first direction and slack in said opposite direction, a stop integral with the frame being placed on the path of the carriage in front and at a distance from the latter less than the stroke of the pusher, means being preferably provided for adjusting the length of said stroke.

Referring to the drawing, there is shown an apparatus according to the invention comprising a portable frame 1 which has substantially the general shape of a pistol provided with a stock 2 and a cover 3 slidably mounted on the body 1, the way of a breech block of an automatic pistol.
The body 1 receives a movable carriage 5 having a front slot 6 and mounted to slide relative to longitudinal guides (not shown) of the body 1 which can be obtained, for example, by machining or by molding a rectilinear groove in the body 1.
In opposition to the carriage 5, there is a pusher 7 connected to a lever 8 traversed by an orifice 9 situated in an inclined plane with respect to a longitudinal rod 10 which passes freely through a hole 11 in the carriage 5. The rod 10 passes longitudinally, right through, a cylinder 12 fixed to the frame 1 and constituting the fixed part of a compressed fluid distributor and containing a drawer 13 whose rod 10 is made integral in order to be driven by said drawer 13 as will be explained later.
At its front end, the rod 10 comprises a transverse stop 14 located in front of the carriage 5 and capable of driving the latter rearward when the rod 10 is driven by the slide 13 in the direction of its retraction.
The lever 8 is subjected to the action of lateral springs 15 (figurel) in order to be constantly urged towards its active position as shown in FIGS. 2 to 4 and which corresponds to an arc effect buttoning on the rod 10, so that it drives the lever 8 and consequently the pusher 7 when said rod 10 is driven by the slide 13 in the direction of its advance.
The lateral springs 15 are fixed towards the front to buttons 16 secured to the body 1 and to the lever 8 by buttons 17.
The cover 3 is traversed by longitudinal side slots 18 through which the buttons 17 are visible and can thus be observed by the user as will be explained below.
The lever 21 is. Pivotally mounted on a median axis 23 and is biased by a blade spring 24.
The hook 20 is placed in front of and opposite one of the boutoπss 17 serving as attachment points for the springs 15, so that the hook 20 meets the button 17 when the cover 3 is pulled back. Key 22 is placed opposite an opening 3a of the cover 3 to be ac¬ cessible from the outside.
In front of the carriage 5, there is a stop 25 soli¬ dary of the body 1 and by which the carriage 5 is stopped when the latter is biased forward.
The butt 2 is hollow and can receive a cylinder 26 of compressed gas (air, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, etc.) capable of cooperating with a striker tip 27 of any type known by ensuring the opening of a seal that the bottle 26 comprises, and communicating by a circuit also of any known type and which may include a regulator 28 to reach the cylinder 12 by a control member 29 provided with a control button 30 located at the location of the trigger of this that could be a pistol having the same external shape as the device.
Le fonctionnement de l'appareil qui vient d'être décrit est le suivant:The operation of the device which has just been described is as follows:
The hood 3 is pulled backwards, like an automatic pistol is cocked, and the hook 20, constantly pushed by the spring leaf 24, meets the button 17 which it drives towards the rear, at the against the action of the springs 15. Furthermore, the point of application of the tensile force being situated at the level of the pivot axis of the lever 8, the latter easily slides along the rod 10.
When the cover has reached its extreme rear position, it remains there, either because the friction between it and its guides has a value greater than that of the tensile force of the springs 15, or by means of a stop device of any known type such as a pawl. We can thus, with one hand, hold the device open and with our free hand, we grab a syringe of any known type containing the product to be injected.
Such a syringe has a body 31, a tip 32 for a short needle 33 and a piston 34 provided with an end 35. For the fitting of the syringe, the end piece 32 is placed in the slot 6, the body 31 bearing from rear to front on the carriage 5 and placed on the upper part of the body 1. The end 35 of the piston 34 is located opposite the plunger 7, at a greater or lesser distance from it depending on the length of the syringe. The cover 3 is brought forward and the button 22 is pressed to release the button 17. The springs 15 tilt the lever 8 and pull it forward, which is without difficulty since the lever 8 is then inclined in the direction of its independence from the rod 10. The pusher 7 is in permanent abutment against the end 35 due to the traction of the springs 15, so that the force of those -ci is transmitted by the lever 8 and the pusher 7 at the end 35 of the piston 34 and, thereby, to the liquid A contained in the body 31 of the syringe.
The apparatus is in the position shown in FIG. 2, ready for use if one has, beforehand, placed a bottle of compressed gas 26 in the butt 2, a bottle which is held against the striker tip 27 by a plug 36 screwed into a tapped hole in the butt 2 and exerting pressure on the bottom of the bottle 26 by means of a somewhat elastic piece 37.
To carry out an injection, the device is applied against the part of the body to be treated in the manner of a pistol held at the touching end ", then the button 30 which is pressed against the body is pressed. a return spring 40 and which communicates an inlet 41 of compressed gas, preferably expanded, and an outlet 42 opening into the cylinder 12, behind the drawer 13 (Figure 3).
The compressed gas thus pushes the slide 13 which drives the rod 10, the latter in turn driving the lever 8 which, in the rear-front direction of the rod 10, is 10 braced against it under the action of springs 15.
The gas pressure exerted against the slide 13 is thus transmitted to the pusher 7 which acts on the part 35 of the piston 34, which in turn exerts pressure on the product A which is contained in the body 31 of the syringe.
Cette pression n'a pas pour effet de provoquer la sortie du produit A par l'aiguille 33 car cela nécessite une pression supérieure à celle qui est nécessaire au coulis- sement du chariot 5 le long de ses guides, de sorte queThis pressure does not have the effect of causing the product A to exit through the needle 33 because this requires a pressure greater than that which is necessary for the sliding of the carriage 5 along its guides, so that
10. l'ensemble -tiroir 13 - tige 10 - levier 8 - poussoir 7 - partie 35 du piston 34 - corps de seringue 31 - chariot 5> se déplace pour passer de la position représentée sur la figure 2 à celle représentée sur la figure 3 et qui corres¬ pond à la saillie de l'aiguille 33 hors de la face avant lb10. the assembly-drawer 13 - rod 10 - lever 8 - pusher 7 - part 35 of the piston 34 - syringe body 31 - carriage 5> moves from the position shown in Figure 2 to that shown in Figure 3 and which corresponds to the projection of the needle 33 outside the front face 1b
15 ou "canon" do l'appareil, laquelle, bien entendu, est pourvue d'une ouverture le en regard de l'aiguille 33.15 or "barrel" of the apparatus, which, of course, is provided with an opening opposite the needle 33.
Note that the forward movement of the above set of elements is effected by pressure and not by impact.
By comparing FIGS. 2 and 3, it can thus be seen that the slide 13 has traveled forwards a distance equal to that, Dl, which separates the front of the carriage 5 from the stop 25 when said carriage 5 is located in its position of total withdrawal, this distance Dl being less than the
25 course complète D2 que peut parcourir le tiroir 13 dans le cylindre 12.25 full stroke D2 which the slide 13 can travel in the cylinder 12.
But, as said above, the stroke D2 of the slide 13 is not finished and the compressed gas continues to act on this slide 13 and therefore on the rod 10 which slides freely in the hole 11 of the stopped carriage 5 and which continues to drive 1 1
As the carriage 5 is positively blocked by the stop 25, the pressure of the compressed gas on the slide 13 is transmitted exclusively to the product A contained in the body 31 of the syringe, so that this product A is forced to flow through the passage of the needle 33, which is shown diagrammatically in FIG. 4.
By comparing FIGS. 3 and 4, it can be seen that at the end of the stroke of the carriage 5, the distance Dl is covered in full and that the piston 34 remains to travel a distance D3 corresponding to the dose of product To be injected.
The slide 13, meanwhile, should still travel a distance D4 to reach the end of its theoretical total travel D2.
In FIG. 4, it can be seen that the distance D3 has been traveled in full and that the rod 10 has traveled a distance D5 in front of the carriage 5 while there is still a distance D6 in front of the drawer 13. The compressed fluid distributor 12 -13 can be either of the single-acting type or of the double-acting type.
When it is of the single-acting type, the front wall of the cylinder 12 has vents 45 allowing the gas situated in front of the drawer 13 to exit from the cylinder 12 when the drawer 13 is moved forward and, on the contrary, d 'enter the cylinder 12 when the drawer 13 is moved rearward.
To obtain the recoil movement of the drawer 13 and, therefore, of the rod 10, it is then necessary to provide a return spring whose points of application are located respecti¬ vely on the body 1 and on the rod 10.
Ce montage est très simple et à la portée de l'homme de métier, de sorte que l'on ne le décrira pas plus en détai1. 12This assembly is very simple and within the reach of those skilled in the art, so that it will not be described in more detail. 12
When the compressed fluid distributor 12-13 is of the double-acting type, the vents 45 do not exist. At the front of the cylinder is then a sealed chamber which receives pressurized gas from the control device 29 by a conduit 46.
The slide 13 of the control device 29 therefore directs the compressed gas either to the rear chamber of the cylinder 12 (conduit 42), or to the front chamber (conduit 46). 0 To evacuate the gas which is either in the front chamber or in the rear chamber, exhaust holes 47 and 48 respectively are provided in the device 29, according to arrangements well known in themselves. same. 5 Whatever the solution adopted, when the operator releases his pressure on the button 30, the return spring 40 pushes the drawer 13 of the control device 29 which again closes the conduit 42 and thus releases the drawer 13. 0 With a return spring ^ the rod 10 returns the drawer 13 to its maximum withdrawal position shown in Figure 2; with a double-acting device, this movement is obtained by the gas pressure exerted in the chamber located at the front of the drawer 13. 5 A very simple type compressed gas circuit has been described above, but those skilled in the art know how to establish more elaborate pneumatic circuits, provided with all the desired components and of dimensions compatible with the device according to the invention. 'invention to provide additional Q to obtain more or less automatic operation mom¬ and allowing, in particular, to successively obtain the extraction of the needle 33, the injection of product A, the reentry of the together, a new extraction of the needle 33 followed by a new injection of product A, etc. in no asking the operator to give an impulse to the push button 30, pressing it at the start of the cycle to start it and at the end of the cycle to stop it. It is also possible to provide for automatic cyclical operation by asking the operator to keep the button 30 pressed.
According to a characteristic of the invention, the dose injected at each extraction of the needle 33 is adjustable.
According to the embodiment shown, this is obtained by providing, a pin 50 parallel to the rod 10 and connected to the latter by a cross member 51 disposed at the rear end of the assembly, the pin 50 being engaged in a passage 52 of the body 1 which serves as a guide so that its end 53 is located on the face of an adjustable stop 54.
Le butoir 54 est monté librement autour d'un pivotThe passage 52 has an inside diameter substantially equal to the outside diameter of the spindle 50 and. is located in the bottom of one more housing, large diameter 55 in which a spring 56 is placed interposed between the bottom of the housing 55 and the cross member 51, which is equivalent to interposing it between the body 1 and the rod 10. The stopper 54 is freely mounted around a pivot
Pour cela, une graduation (non représentée)57 whose axis is perpendicular to that of the spindle 50, so that the pivoting of the stopper 54. in one direction or the other has the effect of placing its active part 54a more or less close to the outlet of the passage * 52 and, therefore, to limit more or less the insertion of the spindle 50 in the said passage 52, this amounting to more or less limiting the insertion of the spindle 50 in the passage 52. Thus, the rod 10 is stopped after a more or less long race which determines, as we saw above, the distance D3. To obtain the blocking of the stopper 54 at the desired location, a wedge 60 is used here mounted sliding without friction in a slide 61 of the body 1 and secured to a control button 62 which is engaged in a slot 63 provided in the body 1 and which is accessible from the exterior thanks to the fact that it appears under the edge of the cover 3 (see FIGS. 1 and 5). A spring 64 is placed in a housing 65 and acts on the wedge 60 either directly or by means of a shoe to exert on it a pressure which results in friction of said wedge 60 against the slide 61. At by means of button 62, the operator presses a little on the wedge 60 to reduce (or even eliminate) the friction and to make the wedge 60 slide to the desired position. For this, a graduation (not shown)
10 est prévue le long de la lumière 63, sur le corps 1 ou sur le capot 3, pour permettre à l'opérateur de choisir la position correspondant à la dose de produit A qu'il désire fixer.10 is provided along the lumen 63, on the body 1 or on the cover 3, to allow the operator to choose the position corresponding to the dose of product A which he wishes to fix.
En se servant du bouton 62 comme repère par rapport à la graduation, l'opérateur déplace vers la droite ou versUsing button 62 as a guide to the scale, the operator moves to the right or to
15 la gauche la cale 60 pour que son plan incliné 60a bloque le butoir 54 en pivotement dans une position telle que la par¬ tie active 54a soit plus ou moins près de l'orifice du pas¬ sage 52.15 on the left the wedge 60 so that its inclined plane 60a blocks the stopper 54 in pivoting in a position such that the active part 54a is more or less close to the orifice of the passage 52.
Sur la figure 2, on voit qu'en position de retraitIn Figure 2, we see that in the retracted position
20 complet de l'ensemble, la tige 10 entraîne la broche 50 par la traverse 51 de telle sorte que l'extrémité 53 de ladite broche 50 se trouve éloignée de la partie active 54a du butoir 54 d'une distance D8 égale à la somme des distances Dl et D3.20 complete of the assembly, the rod 10 drives the spindle 50 through the cross member 51 so that the end 53 of said spindle 50 is located away from the active part 54a of the stopper 54 by a distance D8 equal to the sum distances Dl and D3.
In FIG. 3, it can be seen that the end 53 of the spindle 50 is no longer distant from the active part 54a of the roof 54 only by a distance D9 equal to the distance D3 since the rod 10 and the spindle 50 have completely covered the distance Dl.
Si l'opérateur avait voulu augmenter la dose, il eut suffi qu'il déplace la cale 60 vers la droite.3.Q On figure 4, we see that the distance D3 and the distance D9 have been completely covered, the stopping of the mobile elements having been caused by the meeting of the end 53 and the active part 54a of the stopper 54, itself blocked by the wedge 60. If the operator had wanted to fix a lower dose, with the same syringe having, consequently, an unchanged diameter, it would have been enough for it to move the wedge 60 to the left (FIG. 5) because the inclined plane 60a of the wedge 60 would have raised the part lower of the stopper 54 and would have approached the active part 54a to stop the spindle 50 earlier, which amounts to saying that this adjustment corresponds to a shortening of the distance D3 and to a corresponding reduction in the volume of product A expelled from the body 31 by the piston 34. If the operator had wanted to increase the dose, it would have been enough for him to move the shim 60 to the right.
It is noted that the spring 56 permanently biases the cross member 51 and therefore the rod 10 towards the position of complete withdrawal, so that this spring serves to return the rod 10 and allows the use of a 12-13 single-acting distributor if we want it.
When the operator wants to carry out an injection, he acts on the button 30 to trigger the operations of extracting the needle 33 and injecting product A. As soon as the injection is complete, the gas pressure acting on the rear face of the drawer 13 is canceled and the rod 10 is brought back either by the spring 56, or by a gas pressure established on the front face of the drawer 13, as explained above. In doing so, the stop 14 integral with the rod 10 meets the front of the carriage 5 and brings the latter back.
Simultaneously, the rod 10 passes through the orifice 9 of the lever 8 without exerting any action on the latter which, being free from any constraint, moves back at the same time as the load. riot 5 since it pushes the body 31 of the syringe and that, symmetrically to what has been explained above, the product A exerts a pressure on the piston 34 and therefore on the part 35 and on the pusher 7 secured to the lever 8. When the operator wants to make a second injection (and subject to other automatic mechanisms added), he will press button 30 again, which will cause the same operations as above.
It follows from the above explanations, that in the direction of extraction there is first a movement of the assembly (pusher 7 - piston 3 - body 31 - needle 33> then a movement (pusher 7 - piston 34) - product A> while in the direction of reentry, there is only a single overall movement which does not modify the relative position of the syringe body and its piston.
A injecté. Thus, during each injection, the piston 34 ef¬ performs a stroke greater than that of the syringe, the dif¬ ference of these two strokes being equal to the height of the cylindrical volume of product. Has injected. It should be emphasized that the piston 34 continues to move forward when the body 31 of the syringe is stopped and that the adjustment of the doses is done exclusively by acting on the movement of mechanical organs and not by means of timing which are, as we know, much less precise than the mechanical means which can be adjusted to a few fractions of a millimeter.
It emerges from the above description that an apparatus according to the invention can be produced with very light materials and that it requires only very simple machining operations (or molding), so that the practitioner can proceed to series of injections without fatigue, without weariness and retaining all the precision necessary for his art.
The automatisms that can be added allow try to greatly simplify the manipulations of one operator.
In addition, the maintenance of an apparatus as just described is practically zero since it suffices to replace the compressed gas bottle 21 when the latter is empty.
Naturally, the device according to the invention can receive syringes of all the standard dimensions encountered on the market and can also be used with different types of needles.
