DAVID M. IRELAND, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
DETACI-IABLE BRACKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 7, 1%09.
Application fi1ed April 9, 1909. Serial No. 488,806.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID M. IRELAND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, county of lVayne, State of Michigan, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Detachable Brackets, and declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which itpertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
This invention'relates to detachable brackets, preferably for stoves, and has for its object an improved device of this type, wherein ease of adjustment in position, and cheapness of the assembled structure, are especial features.
In the drawings :Figure l, is a perspective of the bracket, including the supporting pieces, and the tubular bar. Fig. 2, is a cross sectional view through both the tube and center portion of one of the supporting bracket clamps. Fig. 3, is a cross section of the tube-engaging loop of the clamp. Fig. 4, is a perspective of a single bracket, disassociated from the other parts.
The tubular towel supporting member 1 encircled near each end by one of the encircling loop pieces 2, whose rear and terminal. tongue pieces 3 and 4 project rearwardly. Over the top tongue 3 extends the overreaching branch 5 of the supporting branch proper 6. The lateral edges 5 of the overreaching part depend partly over the corresponding edges of the rearwardly extending tongue pieces 3 and 4c, and this part 5 is held j as tightly as may be desired to the rearwardly extending tongues by the screw 7. The upper hooked end 8 of the bracket piece which extends from the top of the curved supporting branch 6 has an upwardly flaring edge 8 which is adapted to engage in a corresponding recessed portion of the stove top, or other supporting body 9. In this position, the curved supporting branch 6 en gages over a corresponding shoulder 10 on the body or wall of the stove, and is supported firmly, but removably, in position with the tubular part 1 suitably spaced from the stove wall, and held in the same horizontal plane with the lower edge of the curved supporting branch 6 of the bracket.
What I claim is In combination with a pair of supporting brackets, each having a rising portion adapted to engage correspondingly shaped shoulders of a support, a locking tongue portion adapted to engage in a complementary recess therein, and a horizontal portion provided with depending lateral flanges, a tubular object supporting member, a plurality of loops engaging thereabout with their terminal portions extending under the horizontal portions of the brackets, and screw members for holding said horizontal portions in close engagement over the terminal tongues, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof, I sign this specification in the presence of two witnesses.
DAVID M. IRELAND. Vitnesses CHARLES F. B RTON, IVILLIAM M. SWAN.
