Description

(N 0 Model) 7 A. J. WALLIS. BOTTLE DISPLAY'GASE.
No 570,972. Patented Nov, 10, 1896.
INV ENTOR AcXQYoWE E (min ATTORNEY UNITED STATES ADELBERT J WVALLIS,
PATENT OFFICE.
OF COLUMBUS, OHIO.
BOTTLE-DISPLAY CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 570,972, dated November 10, 1896.
Application filed October 9,1895.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADELBERT J. WALLIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at C- lumbus, in the county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Bottle-Display Cases, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to display-cases for bottles; and the objects of my invention are to provide a display-case of this class of superior construction and arrangement of parts and to produce other improvements the details of construction of which will be more fully point-ed out hereinafter. These objects I accomplish in the manner illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a View in perspective of my improved display-case; and Fig. 2 is a transverse section of the same, showing the bottles in place therein.
Similar letters refer to similar parts-t-hro u ghout both views.
In the construction of my improved case I produce an oblong'rack or cabinet a, of paste board or other suitable material. This cabinet, as indicated in the drawings, consists of a substantially triangular rear portion 1), the lower portion of which is provided with a forward extension I). The back or substantially triangular portion of the cabinet is, bythe employment of vertically-arranged and forwardly and downwardly inclined partitions c, separated into parallel stalls, and in each of the stalls thus formed are arranged transverse partition-plates cl, these partition-plates cl being at such distance one from the other as to result in the formation of pockets 6. Conforming to the inclines of the upper sides of the partitions c, the vertical partitions d are arranged and terminate one above the other in steps, as indicated. The pockets e, formed as above described, are of equal depth and are provided with bottom pieces f.
The forward or extension portion 2) of the rack is provided with comparatively shallow Vertical ends and sides, and between said sides are arranged vertical partitions g of corresponding height, the spaces g between said partitions and between the inner and outer sides of said extension portion b forming receptacles for horizontally-arranged bottles, as indicated in Fig. 2 of the drawings.
Serial No. 565,145. (No modeL) 77. represents a case or transparent cover which is adapted to cover, as hereinafter described, the rack or receptacle a; This case or cover consists in a vertical back piece 2', which is of slightly greater height than the back of the rack to. With the upper edge of this back piece is connected the upper and rear edge of da forwardly-curved and downwardly-exten ing glass plate or frontfi .the lower edge of the lattefeTitfidifiEt'dthe same level as the lower edge of the back plate '5. As indicated at k, the cover h is provided with glass end plates, which conform to the shape of said cover ends.
The rack is designed, as indicated in the drawings, to be seated upon a suitable horizontal base on, the molding edges of the latter being flanged upward,as indicated at m. The transparent case or cover h is designed, as indicated in the drawings, to be seated within the base-flanges m and to form a cover for the rack a.
From the description herein given it will be seen that each of the pockets e will serve to form a receptacle for a bottle or similar package, and that owing to these pockets being arranged in steps one above the other it will be seen that the upper portion of the face of each bottle will be displayed from the front, thus admitting of labels thereon being plainly read without removal of the bottles. Owing to the position of the forward horizontal pock ets or receptacles 9, it is evident that bottles arranged horizontally therein will have their full labels exposed to view and that these bottles will not obstruct the view of those contained in the lower pockets e.
Although the case herein shown and described is particularly designed for the purpose of displaying small bottles of tablets and similar medicinal preparations, it is evident that it may be employed for other similar display purposes.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a display-case for bottles and similar articles the combination with an oblong rack or consisting of the substantially triangular rear portion 17 and horizontal forward portion b, parallel inclined partitions a, transverse partitions (1' arranged in steps between said complete of said base, substantially as and for the pun pose specified.
ADELBERT J \VALLIS. In presence of- C. O. SHEPHERD, O. M. VOORHEES.
