Description

(No Model.)
w. B. (mama,
DISH DRAINER.
Patented July E896 mme wiioz;
WILLIAM 1;. GEORGE, OF eoLUMBUs, OHIO.
DISH-DR-AINER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Yatent No. 563,369, dated July 7, 1896.
Application filed nmh 23, 1896.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM B. GEORGE, a citizen of the United States, residing at C- lumbus, in the county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and use ful Improvements in Dish-Drainers and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
- This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in dish-drainers; and it has for its object, among others, to provide a simple, cheap construction of dish drainer designed for placing in'a sink or on a dresser adjacent thereto to allow the water to drain off from the dishes or other utensils. I provide means whereby the dishes andother articles are prevented from rolling or slipping Off.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will hereinafter appear, and the novel features thereof will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
The invention is' clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, with the let-v tors of reference marked thereon, form a part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is an elevation of my improved dish-drainer. Fig. 2 is a vertical cross-section. Fig. 3 is a plan.
Like letters of reference indicate like parts in the several views.
Referring now to the. details of the drawings by letter, A designates the top or supporting board, which is formed with. the longitudinal grooves or channels a. This board is supported within a suitable frame 13,. the sides of which are inclined, as shown, so that the upper board may be inclined, and thus allow the water-to more readily drain ed; 0 are screw-eyes or analogous means 0 .1 ending from this board near opposite edges'at any desired distance from the end, and mounted on these for pivotal movement is the device which-prevents the dishes from falling or rolling off. This comprises the wire D,'the opposite ends of which are coiled around pins or pivots E, held in said eycbolts or analo- 'without departing from the,
gens means, and this wire is extended to form Serial No. 584,505. (No model.)
the two sides and ends of the guard. F is another wire having its ends coiledabout' the opposite ends of the pins or pivots, and this wire is extended to form the top portion of the guard, a suitable nut G being provided, on each pivot or pin, so that the parts may be held against separation. H are vertical wires connecting the top and bottom wires of the guard or frame and arrangedany suit- 'signedto be moved on the pins or pintles as upon a pivot, so that whendesired it may be thrown up out of the way, but in practice it will be in its lowermost position, so that the lower portion thereof will rest upon the grooved board near its lowermost end and will serve to prevent dishes from rolling or tumbling off, and if desired the dishes may be, placed on edge between the vertical wires of the frame and allowed to better drain.
Modifications in details -mbe resorted to irit of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.v
Having thus described the invention, wliat is claimed as new is- 1. A dish-drainer,-comprising an inclined support having longitudinal grooves and a guard near the l'owerend thereof, said guard being pivotally mounted on the board, substantially as described. 7 I
'2. The combination 'with the supportingframe with inclined sides,- and the board having longitudinal grooves and supported in an inclined position, of the eyebolts held in-said board, pins mounted thereon and a guard composed of wires having their ends coiled about said pins and mounted for pivotal movement, substantially asdescribed.
In testimony'whereof I have signedjhis specification in the presence'of two subscribing witnesses.
Witnesses D. L. HERSHISER, DANIEL CHESNUT.
