TOOTH-BRUSH.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 552,114, dated December 31, 1895.

To all whom, it may concern.-

Be it known that I, JAMES FRYE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tooth-Brushes; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in tooth-brushes; and it consists in providing a tooth-brush of the ordinary type with an arrangement whereby the teeth may be cleaned on both sides, as fully described and claimed hereinafter.

Reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, Figure 1 designates a perspective view of my improved device. Fig. 2 is a view similar to that shown in Fig. 1 with the several parts detached.

A is the body portion of the brush, having secured thereto the bristles B, and A is the handle constructed in the usual manner.

A plate 0 is secured to the brush A by means of a set-screw D, which is threaded and adapted to an opening d in the brush-handle.

The plate 0 has a slot cwhich permits of adjustm ents. Said plate 0 at its free end is bent at right angles and perforated on the inner side to receive the bristles B, which are firmly cemented to the plate 0.

It will be readily seen that with a brush of this character the teeth may be cleaned 011 both sides at the same operation. The bristles B and B may be adjusted laterallyin respect to the teeth and the several parts easily detached for the purpose of cleaning.

Having now fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The combination of a brush having a body portion A and handle A of a plate 0 provided with bristles B the latter being adjustably and detachably secured to the former, substantially as specified.

2. The combination of a brush having a body portion A, handle A and bristles B of a plate C, having bristles B and a slot 0, a screw D adapted to said slot and to an opening din the body portion A of the brush, substantially as specified.
