SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 398,173, dated February 19, 1889. Application filed January 14, 1888. Serial No. 260,696. (No model.)
useful Improvements in Brush-l-lolders; and
I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exactdescription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which i it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to improvements in ln'ush-holders; and it consists in the novel construction and combinations of parts, hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.
The object of my invention is to produce a cheap, simple, and efficient holder for daubing-brushes and the like.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of one of myimproved holders having two daubers secured therein. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the holder, the brushes being removed.
circling the bodies of the ljirushes B 13. A 0 handle, C, is attached to the band or framepiece A, which may be made of any suitable material and secured in any approved manner. (Not herein shown.)
E E are two lugs proj ccting from the framepiece A, and are slightly separated from each other. A set-screw, D, is used in the ordinary manner for securing and drawing the lugs together, thereby causing the frame piece to clamp the bodies of the brushes.
In operating the device the body of one or both of the brushes is inserted within the frame of theholder, when by turning the setscrew in the proper direction the lugs are drawn together and the frame caused to clamp the bodies of the brushes and hold them securcl y. It'will be readily understood that by ,a this construction the old brushes may be easily removed and replaced by new ones as often as desired.
I do not wish it understood that it is neces 5o sary to use two brushes in the holder at one 1 time, since it is equally as useful where only I one is desired.
I am aware that a headband provided with separated projecting ends covered by a 1101- low handle has been employed to clasp and hold a completed brush-head, as well as other articles, and I do not claim the same.
I am also aware that a compressible headband for receiving and clamping the brush- 6o fiber has been used; therefore I disclaim that also.
IVhat- I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. As an article of manufacture, a brushholder formed of metal. and comprising a circular clamping-band or frame-piece provided with a projecting hand-piece and two projecting parallel lugs slightly separated from each other, and a set-screw for drawing such lugs together and contracting said band or frame, f all arranged as described, and for the purpose A is a flexible band or frame-piece for enspecified. 1
2. The combination, with two daubingbrushes, of a detachable holder, consisting of a 7 5 circular clamping frame-piece provided with a handle projecting from one side and two projecting parallel lugs slightly separated from each other, and a screw for drawing such lugs together and contracting said frame-piece,
thereby causing it to clasp and retain the bodies of said brushes, all arranged as described, and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I a'liix my signature in presence of two ,witnesses.
GEORGE E. MEEKER.
