2 Claims, 4 Drawing Figures MOSQUITO-BITE ITCH STOPPER Conducive to a better understanding of the invention, it may be well to point out that the drawing of blood from a person by a mosquito involves the following steps:
1. Piercing the victims skin with elongated mouth parts, the mosquito prepares to insert the sucking tube.
2. Twisting and turning the sucking tube, the mosquito forms a blood pool by damaging surrounding cells.
3. Saliva is injected into the blood pool just before the blood is drawn.
4. Itching is caused by the mixture of saliva and blood remaining in the pool.
In the past many chemicals in the form of creams, greases and oils have been used to help relieve the itchlng.
The primary object of this invention is to provide purely mechanical means, embodying dynamic pressures on the bite, to disperse the irritant.
Relief is obtained because the saliva is dispersed "throughout a much larger volume of tissue and is therefore greatly diluted.
This, and other objects of the invention will become apparent from a reading of the following specification and claim, together with the accompanying drawing wherein like parts are referred to and indicated by like reference numerals, and wherein:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the Mosquito-bite Itch Stopper that is the subject of the invention;
FIG. 2 is a front view of the same;
FIG. 3 is a right end view; and,
FIG. 4 is a top plan view.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, there is seen in FIG. 1 the Mosquito-bite Itch Stopper, that is the subject of the invention, broadly indicated by reference numeral 10.
The unit has a base 16, having a finger engaging handle 11 mounted at one end of the base and a flat surfaced platform 12 at the other end.
Reference numerals 13 and 14 indicate two upstanding crisscrossing crescents positioned diametrically across the platform 12, and intersecting at their mid point 15, as seen most clearly in FIGS. 1 and 4.
It is to be understood that the dimensions suggested are not critical, as long as the relative configuration is maintained. In its preferred form the unit 10 has an overall height of about 1%inches. The finger grip 11 is approximately 1 inch in diameter, adapted to receive a finger therethrough. The platform 12 is one-half inch in diameter.
Each of the upstanding crescent shaped walls, or fins l3 and 14 have eleven-thirtyseconds inch radii and are positioned at to each other, cross wise of the platform 12.
The crescent fins l3 and 14 are one-sixty-fourths inch wide along their peripheral arcuate edges; thickening toward their bases for maximum rigidity.
In use, the mosquito-bite itch stopper 10 is held with the index finger through the ring 11, immediately over the mossquito bite, with the intersection 15 of the crescent-cross fins l3 and 14 aligned with the center of the bite.
The so aligned crescent-cross is pressed firmly against the bite for 5 seconds.
The crescent-cross creates high unbalanced pressures within the bite itself due to the arcuate configuration of the pressure fins 13 and 14.
This dynamic condition causes the irritant to be dispersed throughout a larger volume of skin tissue.
As a consequence the concentrated irritant is diluted; and itching stops.
The above description is to be considered as illustrative and not limitative of the invention, of which modifications can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claim.
The invention having been described, what is claimed l. A mosquito-bite itch stopper, comprising in combination, a base having a handle at one end and a flat surfaced platform at the other end extending in a plane at 90 to the longitudinal axis of the base; a first, upstanding arcuate fin mounted diametrically of the platform; and, a second upstanding arcuate fin mounted diametrically of the platform at 90 to the first fin; the two fins intersecting at their midpoints to define an upstanding crescent-cross adapted to be pressed against the surface of a bite and create high unbalanced pressures within the bite itself, thereby dispersing the irritant through a larger volume of skin tissue, to dilute the concentrated irritant and stop the itching.

A mosquito-bite itch stopper, comprising in combination, a base having a handle at one end and a flat surfaced platform at the other end extending in a plane at 90 to the longitudinal axis of the base; a first, upstanding fin mounted diametrically of the platform; and, a second upstanding fin mounted diametrically of the platform at 90 to the first fin; the two fins intersecting at their midpoints to define an upstanding cross adapted to be pressed against the surface of a bite and create high unbalanced pressures within the bite itself, thereby dispersing the irritant through a larger volume of skin tissue, to dilute the concentrated irritant and stop the itching.

Claims (2)

1. A mosquito-bite itch stopper, comprising in combination, a base having a handle at one end and a flat surfaced platform at the other end extending in a plane at 90* to the longitudinal axis of the base; a first, upstanding arcuate fin mounted diametrically of the platform; and, a second upstanding arcuate fin mounted diametrically of the platform at 90* to the first fin; the two fins intersecting at their midpoints to define an upstanding crescent-cross adapted to be pressed against the surface of a bite and create high unbalanced pressures within the bite itself, thereby dispersing the irritant through a larger volume of skin tissue, to dilute the concentrated irritant and stop the itching.

A mosquito-bite itch stopper, comprising in combination, a base having a handle at one end and a flat surfaced platform at the other end extending in a plane at 90* to the longitudinal axis of the base; a first, upstanding fin mounted diametrically of the platform; and, a second upstanding fin mounted diametrically of the platform at 90* to the first fin; the two fins intersecting at their midpoints to define an upstanding cross adapted to be pressed against the surface of a bite and create high unbalanced pressures within the bite itself, thereby dispersing the irritant through a larger volume of skin tissue, to dilute the concentrated irritant and stop the itching.
