Abstract
A massage sandal having a base, a plurality of projections provided on the upper and lower surfaces of said base, and a band fixed to said base, where said projections stimulate the sole of the foot to facilitate the circulation of the blood and strengthen the connective tissue of the sole of the foot by massaging the sole of the foot during the walking of the person who wears it. Therefore, the sandal is good for the health of the foot.

UNITED STATES PATENTS 1 Claim, 4 Drawing Figures 3,100,483 8/1963 Altmeyer et al. 128/25 B MASSAGE SANDAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to massage sandals which are comfortable and good for the health of the body, especially for the feet.
Further the invention relates to the sandals which have a plurality of wart-like projections on their upper and lower surfaces, and said projections stimulate the soles of the feet and facilitate the circulation system of the blood within the sole of the feet.
Still further, the invention relates to the sandals which can be produced easily.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION In these modern days, the common run of people have relatively little chances of walking, and it is very rare to walk on the unpaved rough roads. Therefore, the feet of the people are physically weak, and it will be not to much to say that the people suffer from some kind of disease.
It goes without saying that the most preferable method to keep the health of the feet is to walk with bare feet on the natural ground. However, nowadays unfortunately, most of roads are artifical ones such as those paved with asphalt or concrete, therefore, the walking in the natural circumstances with bare feet cannot be easily hoped for.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In view of the above situation, the object of the present invention is to provide novel sandals which improve the condition of the health of the body, especially of the feet. And pursuant to the above-mentioned object, the sandals of the present invention are provided with wart-like projections on their upper and lower surfaces, thereby the wart-like projections of the sandals are closely contacted with the soles of the feet of the person who wears said sandals, and the projections of said sandals give the sense just as he walks on the natural ground, and further the above-mentioned defects can be covered up.
Another object of the invention is to provide the sandals in a novel configuration which can be produced easily in the commercial scale production processes.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS These and other features and characteristics of the invention will be more fully understood by referring to the following detailed description presented solely for the purpose of illustration and to the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the sandal of the present invention;
FIG. 2 is a longitudinal cross sectional view taken along the line II II in FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is a transversal cross sectional view taken along the line III III in FIG. 1; and
FIG. 4 is also a transversal cross sectional view taken along the line IV IV in FIG. 1.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Now referring to the accompanying drawings in FIGS. 1 to 4, inclusive, the numeral 1 indicates the base of the sandal of the invention. Said base 1 is provided with a plurality of wart-like projections 2 on its upper surface and similar projections 3 on its lower surface.
The configuration of said base 1 is like the plan shape of the sole of the foot and the thickness of which is almost equal throughout. Said base 1 and the projections 2 and 3 are formed integrally by using resilient materials such as elastic synthetic resins, synthetic rubber and natural rubber through molding process such as the injection molding. As for said synthetic materials, for example, butyl rubber, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene etc. may be used.
On the portion of the base 1 corresponding to the plantar arch of the foot, longer projections 2a are provided, and on the heel portion are provided with shorter projections 2b, and further other remaining portions are provided with projections in medium length. Thereby the face formed by the tips of the projections 2 fits well to the rugged surface of the sole of the foot.
While on the opposite side, i.e., the lower side of the base 1 is provided with a plurality of the projections 3, and the length of each projection 3 is equal to that of the projection 2 at the corresponding position on the upper surface of the base 1. Thus the shapes of the projections 2 and 3 are symmetric with each other with respect to the base 1. The base 1 is further provided with a band 4 and a binding metal 5.
The sandals of the present invention having the above-explained construction, when such sandals are used, the projections 2 and 3 on the bases 1 of the sandals elastically massage the soles of the feet to stimulate, and relieve the fatigue of the feet and refresh the body and mind of the person who wears them. In addition to that, the sandals of the invention facilitate the circulation of the blood in the feet, strengthen the connective tissues of the weak feet, cure the slightly flat feet, and further stimulate the handy legs or plumpy feet to create the beauty of leg lines.
Further, the projections on the both surfaces of the base of the sandal in the invention are provided symmetrically with regard to the plane: of the base, accordingly, both sandals, right and left, can be formed with using the same mold, and only the binding metals 5 may be fixed to the proper sides of the bands, respectively. Therefore, the production cost for the sandals can be greatly reduced.
As disclosed in detail in the above, the sandals of the present invention comply with the requirements of massage and treatment of the feet, and by using always the sandals of the invention, anyone can resume the feeling of the bare-foot walking on the natural ground.
It should be emphasized, however, that the specific embodiment as described and shown herein are intended as merely illustrative and in no way restrictive of the invention. j
I claim:
1. A massage sandal which comprises in combination,
A. a base of said sandal with the shape of the periphery of the sole of the foot;
B. a plurality of projections provided on the upper surface of said base in which each length of said projections corresponding to the concave portion of the sole of the foot is long and each length of said projections corresponding to the convex portion of the sole of the foot is short;
C. a plurality of other projections provided on the lower surface of said base in which each position of said other projections is symmetric to each of said projections on the upper surface with regard to said base and each length of said other projections is the same as the length of each corresponding projection on said upper surface of said base; and
D. a band fixed to said base of said sandal.
