Abstract

An improved scorekeeper for various games, the device comprising a base having a pair of inverted U-shaped stanchions serving as a ring on which there are tethered a plurality of numbered poker chips which are individually slideable from one side to the other so as to indicate a score for opposing teams of players.

PATENTED m2? 497! //V l/E/V 70E 3 5924 4: 72/254 and 1 5402.55 M. 701 54 TALLYE'ITE This invention relates generally to scorekeeping devices for games. More specifically the present invention relates to scorekeeping devices for card games and the like.

A principle object of the present invention is to provide an improved scorekeeping device and which eliminates the necessity of the use of a pencil and paper, loose chips and other objects normally used in keeping a score.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a tallyette which comprises a base upon which there are mounted a pair of inverted U-shaped stanchions to each of which there are ringed a plurality of poker chips so as to conveniently indicate a score for players.

Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a tallyette that is adaptable for keeping a plurality of scores for opposing teams made up of partners.

Other objects of the present invention are to provide a tallyette which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.

These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing wherein:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention, and

FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of FIG. 1.

Referring now to the drawing in detail, the reference numeral represents a tallyette according to the present invention wherein there is a base 11 upon which there are mounted a pair of upwardly extending, inverted U-shaped stanchions 12, each of which serves as a ring for holding captive a plurality of regular poker chips 13.

The base 11 includes forwardly inclined front and rear platforms l4 and 15 respectively, each of the platforms serving to support the chips 13 thereupon. An upwardly extending partition 16 extends between the platforms, the partition 16 being provided with a pair of semicircular notches 17 on each side thereof and into which the chips may fall and be lined up as is shown in the drawing.

It will be evident that the lower ends of the stanchions accordingly extend through the notches 17 and downwardly through the base 11, the stanchions being secured by an upper nut 18 and a lower nut 19 on each leg 20 thereof, which is threaded so as to accommodate the nuts.

Upon the front platform 14 there is imprinted or otherwise inscribed the word we and the word they, each of the words being aligned for association with one of the stanchion assemblies and its poker ships.

The base 11 may be made of any material such as plastic, wood or the like, and the underside thereof I may be appropriately padded so as to not scratch or mar a table.

In operative use, the present tallyette is particularly adaptable for a game of euchre or any other card game.

In use, the chips 13 are simply made to swing across the top of the U-shaped stanchion so that they may be transferred from one notch 17 on a rear side to a notch 17 on a front side. Thus there has been provided an improved scorekeeping device which eliminates the use of separate pencils and papers as well as loose chips that are scattered about.

We claim:

1. ln a tallyette, the combination of a base, a plurality of stanchions secured fixedly upon said base, and a plurality of 11 poker chips being held captive on each of said stanchions, said base comprising a one-piece member having an inclined forward platform and an inclined rear platform, said platform being separated by upwardly extending partition, said partition on its forward side and on its rear side being provided with a plurality of semicylindrical notches, each of said stanchions comprising an inverted U-shaped member made of wire and including a pair of parallel legs which at their upper ends are adjacent a semicircular portion, each of said poker chips having an opening therethrough and being mounted on said stanchions so that said stanchions pass through said opening of said poker chips the lower ends of said stanchion legs being secured to said base, one leg of each of said

Claims

1. In a tallyette, the combination of a base, a plurality of stanchions secured fixedly upon said base, and a plurality of 11 poker chips being held captive on each of said stanchions, said base comprising a one-piece member having an inclined forward platform and an inclined rear platform, said platform being separated by upwardly extending partition, said partition on its forward side and on its rear side being provided with a plurality of semicylindrical notches, each of said stanchions comprising an inverted U-shaped member made of wire and including a pair of parallel legs which at their upper ends are adjacent a semicircular portion, each of said poker chips having an opening therethrough and being mounted on said stanchions so that said stanchions pass through said opening of said poker chips, the lower ends of said stanchion legs being secured to said base, one leg of each of said stanchions being concentric with a semicylindrical notch on said inclined forward platform while the other said leg of said U-shaped stanchion is positioned concentric with the semicylindrical notch on one of said inclined rear platform and said semicircular portion of said stanchion accordingly extending above said partition so that said poker chips may be slideable along said stanchion between said notch on said forward platform and said notch on said rear platform.
