Anf 5/00 U.S. Cl. 211-153 5 Claims ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a shelf-frame shiftable by rollers on rails assembled on the bottom, columns with rotatable discs for receiving standing or hanging tiles are provided. A number of such shelf frames may be received in a given space and when not in use shifted together tightly, only one access being needed. For use all undesired frames are shifted away so that access is free to the desired frame.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION In modern business-life, in oices etc., the accumulation of files to be stored is very large and needs extreme space-economy. For this purpose serve rotating shelves known per se in which preferably singularly rotatable supporting discs for hanging and/or standing files are supported by a column. By such arrangement in view of usual shelves yet considerable space is gained. But in many cases this nevertheless is insufcient. To overcome those diiculties and to gain further space is the object of the present invention.

SUMMARY The solution of this problem is eifected by providing a shelf-frame supported on balls or rollers, respectively, rolling in or upon rails and containing in singular or double row an appropriate number of standing columns or tubes, respectively, by which the supporting and preferably singularly rotatable discs for hanging and/or standing iles are supported. The rails are so dimensioned and arranged, that the shelfframes at non-use are shifted together narrowly and for use shiftable from each other so far that an operating person receives access to the single files. In a given room, therefore, only space must be left for a single access. All other space can be tightly filled with shelves to the wall.

Details of the invention will be explained in connection with the drawings showing an embodiment of the invention `with various modications.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING In the following description and in the claims, parts will be identiiied by specific names for convenience, but such names are intended to be as generic in their applcation to similar parts as the art will permit. Like reference characters denote like parts in the several figures of the drawings: in which:

FIG. 3 is a top view of the arrangement of FIGS. 1 65 Patented Oct. 6, 1970 ice FIG. 1 discloses a file-receiving frame with a plurality of tubular columns 2 by which in a manner known per se tile-supporting discs 3 preferably singularly rotatable are supported which serve for receiving hanging and/ or standing les 4. The frame disposed over rolls or rolling balls 5 rest on rails 6 assembled on the bottom.

The file-receiving frame 1 as to be seen from FIGS. 2 and 3 may contain either a single or a double row of columns 2 and supporting discs 3. The discs 3 may have an upper surface for standing tiles 9 and additionally a protruding rim 8 bent in a suitable manner for receiving preferably upright hanging les 10. FIG. 5 shows an arrangement of a rim 8 on discs 3, taken from applicants French Pat. 1,477,261.

As can be seen from the total arrangement according to FIG. 4 only at a single place between the file-shelves a space constituting free access 7 is left, but this space by rolling away the frames 1 may be situated at any desired place, while at non-use all frames can be shifted together tightly. In connection with the rotating disc construction for eventually simultaneously hanging and standing of iles a hitherto impossible highest degree of storing tiles in a given space and easily accessibility is attained.

What I claim is:

1. System for storing articles on shelves, particularly files, said system comprising in combination with a plurality of elongated frame bodies, rails disposed at right angles to said elongated bodies, and rolling means operatively related to said bodies for laterally moving said bodies on said rails; a plurality of vertical columns disposed in at least one row on each one of said elongated bodies, and a plurality of rotatable discs on each one of said columns, said discs adapted for supporting said articles.

2. System for storing articles according to claim 1, said rails disposed for shifting of said frames closely together when not in use.

3. System for storing articles according to claim 1, said article supporting discs having an upper surface for accommodating upright standing iles and a rim protruding from the underside thereof for suspending hanging files thereon.

4. System for storing articles according to claim 1, said plurality of vertical columns comprising two parallel rows of said columns on each one of said frame bodies, said rows extending longitudinally of said bodies.

5. System for storing articles according to claim 1, said columns substantially consisting of steel tubing.
