UNITED VSTATES PATENT OFFICE.
J. A. MONTGOMERY, OF WILLIAMSPORT, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVED CANTEEN.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J. A. MONTGOMERY, of the borough of Williamsport, in the county of Lycoming and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Oanteens for Carrying Water or other Liqnids; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in Which- Figure lis a plan view of the canteen closed; Fig. 2,a plan View of the canteen with funnel in place; Fig. 3, a transverse section of the canteen as closed; and Fig. 4, a plan View of the funnel used as a cup, in all of which figures the same letters so often as they occur refer to the saine parts.
A represents' the body of the canteen; B, the funnel or cup; O, the nozzle or neck of funnel; D, the cork or stopper; E, a iiat metallic top to cork; F, a closed nipple on the funnel; H. an open nipple on the canteen to allow the egress of air when the canteen is being filled; J, the neck cf the canteen.
To enable others to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
I construct a canteen of any desired form and of any desired material. I then construct a cup fitting over a portion of the canteen and With a neck fitting over the neck of the canteen, capable of being removed from the canteen,and which,when reversed and again as reversed placed on the canteen, forms a funnel, as shown in Fig. 2, and which funnel, when removed from the canteen, will form a cup, as shown in Fig. 4.
YVhat I claim as my invention, and desireto secure by Letters Patent, is l A canteen of any desired form or material, with a funnel or cup fitting it, substantially as described.
