No. 2,291 2 Clams, (CI. 297-439) This invention relates to a foot rest of a light weight nature providing two different heights of a foot rest element in one unit and of a skeletonzed nature.

A primary object of the invention is to provide a relatively light weight foot rest which may be readily turned from one height to another of the foot rest elements embodied in the device, and which, while being of light weight, will have a tendency to remain in' an upright position whereby either of the foot rest elements may be made available without having to turn the device over, but merely by turning it from one side to the other.

A further important object of the invention is a very convenient device not only for actual use, but also for ready storage, and one which may be manufactured at a relatively low cost of production.

These and many other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to those versed in the art in the following description of one particular form of the invention as illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Preferably the foot rest is made out of tubular material and formed of a continuous length of tubing wherein end portions of the tubing may be joined together at any position or zone around the length.

As illustrated in the accompanying drawing, this tubing is formed to have end portions provided with a base length 10, preferably straight, and from the ends of this base portion there are carried integrally an upright length 11 and an upright length 12, one length inclined toward the other over and above the` base 10. The member 12 is longer than the member 11. Preferably in each instance, the base member 10 is "loaded" with some relatively heavy material 13 such as lead or any substance which will remain in place. The end structure of the device carries the same numerals with the sufx of "a" Between the upper ends of the lengths 11 and 11a is a straight interconnecting tube length 14, integrally joining those ends. Also there is a straight length 15 of tubing integrally interconnecting the upper ends of the lengths 12 and 1211,

Thus the connecting length 14 is located to be horizontally disposed above the bases 1@ and 1051 when the bases 10 and lila are likewise horizontally disposed. The connecting length 15 is also horizontally disposed accordingly and spaced above the base 10.

Depending upon the height the user Will decide to rest his feet, the connecting lengths 14 and 15 Will be correspondingly disposed. For example, if the operator or user wants to rest his feet at the lower level of the connecting length 14, he will dispose the device to have that length 14 toward him with the length 15 further removed away from his feet. Then if it is desired to rest the feet at a higher level, the device will be turned around to have the connecting length 15 disposed for availability to the operator`s feet, with the length 14 spaced further away from the feet, and there below.

While I have herein shown and described my invention in the one specific form, it is obvious that structural changes may be employed without departing froni the spirit of the invention within the limitations of the appended claims.

I claim:

1. A multiple position foot rest comprising a pair of laterally spaced apart base members, each having relatively a front and back end; a first pair of side members fixed one each by a lower end to a front end of a base member and inclined upwardly and over that base member; a front upper member extending between and fixed by end portions to upper end portions of said side members; a second pair of side members, each of greater length than the lengths of the side members of said first pair; said second side members being fixed one each respectively to a back end of said base members and inclined over said base members; and a rear upper member extending between and fixed by its ends respectively to upper ends of said second side members, both of said front and rear upper members being horzontally disposed, one below the other, when said base members are horizontally disposed.

- 2. The structure of claim 1, in which said base mem bers are weight loaded tending to maintain said two upper members in positions above said base members, one higher than the other.
