Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OrEIcEa JOHN XV. BOTELER, OF VASIIINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
COMBINATION GAME-Box.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 286,583, dated October 16, 1883.
Application filed March 2l, 1383. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN W. BorELEn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Vaslr ington, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Game-Boxes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in combination game-boxes, and the Objectis to produce a game-box in which are combined a cribbage-board, a checker, or chess, or backgammon board, division for playing-cards and chips, dice-boxes and dice, chessmen, and pegs for the Cribbage-board in a neat and compact as well as easily-accessible manner.
The invention consists in the construction and arrangements of parts, as will be more fully described hereinafter, and speciiically pointed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon.
Like letters refer to like parts in the accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the improved game-box. Fig. 2 isalongitudinal section of the same. Fig. 3 is a transverse section ofthe same.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents the bottom of the game-box, and B the top or cover, both being made to iit flush upon each other, and can be ornamented elaborately, if desired. Upon the upper surface of the top is arranged the Cribbage-board with the usual spaces and holes for the pegs or pins. In the inside ol' said top is arranged a checker, chess, or backgammon board, b, folded together and held in place by any suitable button or hook, c. The bottom and top are hinged together,
and a spring-catch, hook, or other fastening device, c, holds them together. The bottom is divided by suitable partitions, d, into spaces for the different kinds of chips used in certain games of cards, for dice-boxes and dice, fora pack of cards, and i'or chessmen, checkers, and the pegs or pins used in playing the gaine ci' cribbage. These cribbage-pins may, however,- be inserted into the top in thc ordinary manner, ii'desired, and held in place by proper buttons.
The game-box can be made of any desired size and conguration, and, asstated above, can be made very neat and ornamental. It can be made of wood, papier-mache, or any other suitable material, and it affords a ready means for playing different kinds of games and keeping them all together in a compact manner. The partitions can be arranged at regular distances apart, if desired, or may be varied.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. A combination game box for containing a cribbage-board, a checker, chess, or backgammon board, playing cards, chips, dice, and dice-boxes, checkers, chessmen, and Cribbage-pins, all substantially as specified.
2. A game-box having on its top a cribbageboard and on the inside a checker, chess, and backgammon board, and its bottom divided by partitions for the reception of chips, )laying cards, dice, and dice-boxes, checkers, chessmen, and cribba-ge-pins, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I hereby atiX my signature in presence oi" two witnesses.
JOHN YV. BOTELER.
