It is an object of the present invention to provide a cleansing nozzle adapted to be adjusted in and out of a central position over a toilet bowl for the purpose of cleansing the body part after the stool has been made and wherein a saving in the use of toilet paper will be eifected.

It is another object of the present invention to provide a simple arrangement including an adjustable valve for controlling the flow of water which can serve as the handle means for elTecting the lateral adjustment of the nozzle inwardly to the center of the toilet bowl.

For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is a top plan view of a toilet seat arrangement with the laterally adjustable nozzle device embodying the features of the present invention.

Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary crosssectional view looking in elevation upon the laterally adjustable nozzle device.

Referring now to the figures, l0 represents a toilet seat disposed over a toilet bowl and on which the person using the toilet can be seated. The toilet bowl is indicated at i I. Adapted to be extended over the sides of the bowl I l is a clamp [2 serving as a support for a laterally slidable pipe it having a crooked forward end with a nozzle I l extending therefrom. The clamp I2 has a bracket IS with an opening therethrough in which the pipe I3 is slidably contained. The outer end of the pipe i3 is connected to a valve fitting it having a hand-operated wheel I! extended therefrom to effect the opening and closing of a valve 18 therewithin. This valve connects a flexible hose W with the reservoir 20 at the rear of the toilet seat It. This reservoir 20 contains the flushing water, and when the valve I8 is opened, such water will pass through the flexible hose l9, the valve fitting I6 and thence through the pipe E3 to the nozzle device [4. There will be sufficient pressure upon the water to causethe water to rise above the nozzle head It sufiiciently to contact with the body parts of the person sitting on the seat I0 to flush any fecal matter remaining upon the body parts therefrom. This operation, however, is not effected until the pipe l3 has been slid inwardly against the action of a spring 2! contained on the pipe l3. The handle ll serves not only to control the valve I8, but as the means which can be grasped to cause the inward movement of the pipe l3. When the hand is removed from the wheel H, the pipe I3 will be returned to its original position, as shown in full in Figures 1 and 2, and from a dotted line position 22 where the nozzle I4 was centrally located within the opening of the toilet bowl ll.

Having thus described my invention, I claim:

1. A spray device for use on a toilet bowl having a toilet seat over and spaced above said bowl, said device comprising a mounting clamp having depending spring arms to embrace inner and outer sides of the upper edge of the bowl to mount the device on the upper edge of the bowl, a sleeve on the upper part of said clamp and arranged to occupy a position in the space between said bowl and said seat, a relatively short horizontal tube slidable through said sleeve and having an upturned nozzle on its inward end, a valve body on the outer end of said tube arranged for connection to a water supply, a helical spring circumposed on said tube and compressed between said valve body and said sleeve whereby said tube normally occupies an outpressed position wherein said nozzle is positioned close to the upper edge of the bowl, a valve in said valve body, a combined handle projecting therefrom, said handle being arranged to serve both to open and close the valve, and to enable pushing said tube inwardly against the tension of said spring to position said nozzle centrally of the bowl.

2. A spray device for use on a toilet bowl having a toilet seat over and spaced above said bowl, said device comprising a mounting clamp arranged to embrace inner and outer sides of the upper edge of the bowl, a horizontally-disposed sleeve on the upper part of said clamp and arranged to occupy a position in the space between said bowl and said seat, a tube slidably supported in said sleeve, said tube having on its inward end an upturned nozzle and having on its outer end a valve body arranged for connection to a water supply, resilient means interposed between said valve body and said sleeve and operatively connected to said tube for normally urging said tube REFERENCES CITED The following references are of record in the file of this patent:
