ERNEST N. DORING, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
COMBINED DES K AND FOLDING WARDROBE-BED.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 244,566, dated July 19, 1881.
Application filed September '7, 1880. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ERNEST N. DORING, of
the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a newvand useful Improvement in Combined Desk and FoldingWardrobe-Bed, of which the following is a specification.

Ihe object of this inventionis to furnish folding wardrobe-beds provided with-desks so constructed that they can beopened and used with as much facility as though they were only desks, and which at the same time will not interfere with the opening and closing of the wardrobe-beds.
A represents the rear or stationary part of a wardrobe-bed, and B represents the forward folding part.
-To the forward edges of the sides of the folding part B are attached, at a suitable height fromthe floor, brackets 0. To the inner sides of the brackets O are attached the ends of a board, D, which forms the inner and stationary part of the desk-top, and which may be horizontal or slightly inclined.
To the outer edge of the board D is hinged the edge of the board E, which forms the movable part of the desk-top. The board E is hinged in such a manner that when turned down its edge may rest against the edge of the board D. and leave the upper'surface of the two boards smooth and in the same plane. The board E is made of such a width that when turned up or closed its upper edge may rest 5 arms to support it when turned down, which 40 arms are not shown in the drawings.
If desired, a curved board may be attached to the outer side of the board E, as shown in Fig. 2, for ornamental purposes, in which case the space between the saidcurved board and the board E may be used for holding papers, access to the said space being bad through a door in the said board E.

claim asnew and desire to secure by Letters 'Patent A wardrobe-bed consisting, essentially, of the stationary back A, the folding front B, the brackets G, the inner board, 1), forming the stationary part of desk, and the outer board, E, forming the hinged movable part of desk, as shown and described.
