1 Claim.
My invention relates to improvements in flashlight construction and to similar devices.
My invention relates more particularly toimprovements in a. flashlight of the type capable of being worn upon the head of the wearer, similar to a pair of glasses, having a pair of bulbs disposed above both of the eyes and capable of support upon the nose and ears of the wearer.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide an improved flashlight construction of the type described which is capable of adjustment so that it canbe worn by people with larger or smaller heads with the same degree of usefulness.
A further object of the invention is toprovide an improved flashlight construction of the type described which has an adjustable nose piece for supporting the same upon the nose of the wearer.
A further object of the invention is to provide an improved flashlight of the type described provided with a supporting member attached thereto that is capable of being connected to the Visor of a hat, cap or other headgear of the wearer, This is a highly advantageous feature of this invention because of the fact that during blackouts or other situations wherein no other light is available surgeons may be compelled to work by the hour with nothing for illumination except a flashlight such as described herein and the weight of the same upon the bridge of the nose would be exceedingly wearisome.

Other objects and advantages will be more apparent from the following description wherein reference is had; to the accompanying sheet of drawings, upon which:

A pair of electric light bulbs 24 and 26 may be mounted in the housings l4 and [6 provided with suitable reflectors 28 therefor. Current for the electric light bulbs may be supplied from a battery 30 which can be carried in the pocket of the wearer. A conduit 32 may extend from the battery 36- to an off-on switch 34 and a second conduit 35 may extend from the switch to the light bulbs 24 and 26, the conduit passing through the tubular cross member l2 of the frame Ill.
The bows I8 and 20 may be mounted upon suitable pivots 38 and 4]] upon the sides of the housings I4 and I6 and be held in position by suitable nut members so that While the entire frame may be rotated about the pivots, it may also be frictionally fastened at a desired angle thereto.
The nose support member 22 may preferably be formed of a comparatively hard rubber tubing having the legs 42 and 44 and the arcuately shaped bridge portion 46. This member is adapted to be frictionally mounted on a pair of parallel rod members 48 rigidly extending downwardly from the cross piece I2. Thus, with this construction, the nose support member may be raised or lowered upon the posts 48 to adjust the same to the individual who is wearing the flashlight.
In addition to the supports provided by thebows l8 and 20 over the ears of the wearer and the mounting for support upon the nose, I have also provided an upwardly extending bracket 50 pivotally mounted on the cross piece 12. The bracket 50 may be formed with a rectangular opening within which a slidable clip 52 is mounted, secured in a desired position by a set screw 54. The clip 52 may be formed with a leg portion 55 which carries a screw member 56 that may be fastened on to the visor V of a cap or other type of headgear that the user is wearing With the construction as above described it can be seen that while the weight of the entire mechanism issupported on the visor of the cap the bridge and the ear bows position the mechanism in the desired location for the most effective use by the wearer.
From the above and foregoing description, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that I have provided a flashlight construction which is capable of adjustment to any individuals requirements so that the same can be worn with greater comfort and the lights therein be pointed in the direction that the wearer desires.
While I have illustrated and described a specific embodiment of the invention, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that changes and modifications may be made in the exact details shown, and I do not wish to be limited in any particular; rather what I desire to secure and protect by Letters Patent of the United States is:
Mechanism of the type described comprising a tubular cross-bar, a pair of cylindrical housings rigidly secured at opposite ends thereof, a vertically positioned adjustable nose piece secured to said cross-bar and positioned medially of said housings, said nose piece including parallel posts and a rigid nose bridge adjustable on said posts, said nose bridge having portions telescoping over said posts, a pair of ear bows pivotally secured to the sides of said housings, electric light bulbs in said housings, a battery, a conduit irom said battery to said bulbs extending through said tubular housing and an upwardly extending bracket having means thereon for connecting said mechanismto the visor of a cap on the wearer, said means including a clip member adjustable in said bracket and fastening means thereon. whereby the weight of the entire mechanism is supported from the visor of a wearers cap and is positioned by having the nose piece resting on the bridge of the wearers nose and the ear bows placed over the wearers ears.
