In positioning a match book on the device, one end of the body portion is detached from one of the suction cups and swung upwardly to the position shown in Figure 3 of the drawing with the other suction cup as a pivot. The looped match book is then slipped over the free end of the body portion and moved longitudinally thereof until it is centered over the thickened portion I, after which the free end of the body portion is swung downwardly on its pivotal axis until the hook at the free end thereof engages the adjacent suction cup when the book of matches will be supported on said body portion in upright position, as previously stated. The intermediate thickened portion 7 not only serves to reinforce and strengthen the body portion but also tends to fill in the space between the adjacent faces of the cover of the book so as to prevent sliding or slip ping of the book thereon. Owing to the fact that the upper edge of the thickened portion I slopes rearwardly, the cover of the match book by contact therewith forces the heads of the matches rearwardly, thereby setting up a tension which tends to hold the matches in a steady upright position so as to permit selective detachment and ignition of the matches when desired. It will also be noted that, inasmuch as the body portion is spaced from the windshield or other surface to which it is attached by the suction cups, a pocket will be formed at the rear of said body portion for the reception of cards and the It will further be noted that the free ends vent cutting the suction cups, and, if desired, these curved ends may be beveled or made somewhat thinner than the main body of the hooks to facilitate engagement and disengagement of the books with the necks of the suction cups.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

- 1. A device of the class described comprising an elongated body portion having an intermediatethickenednportion adapted to receive and support a book of matches and thin end portions forming hooks disposed at opposite sides of the thick intermediate portions and opening downwardly, the lower edges of the thin end portions being curved in the direction of the open ends of the hooks, and suction supporting cups having outstanding portions, the hooks being detachably engaged about the outstanding portions of the cups, one of said suction cups forming a pivot for the-hook at one end of the body portion when the hook at the other end thereof is detached from the adjacent cup and the body portion swung laterally to permit placement or removal of said book of matches.

2. A device of the class described comprising a support having an intermediate thickened portion adapted to receive a looped book of matches 3 and provided with terminal downwardly opening hooks at opposite-sides of the thickened portion, and suction supporting cups engaging said hooks, the upper edge of the intermediate thickened portions being inclined rearwardly and adapted to engage the cover of the book at the attached ends of the'matches for forcing said attached ends outwardly and the tips of said matches rearwardly.

3. As a new article of manufacture, a match book holder comprising an elongated body portionhaving its intermediate. portion thickened and formed with front and rear faces, the opposite endsof the body-portion being of reduced thickness and formedwith recesses leading from their lower'ends to form downwardly opening hooks for engagement with supports.
