to be hereinafter more .fully .describedand For a complete understanding of my in'vention,
reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which In the drawings: p Figure 1 is a side elevation, partly in section, illustrating a scaffold bracket constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a front elevation illustrating the bracket. I v
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 3--3 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a perspective view illustrating one of the suspension hooks.
Figure 5 is a top plan view illustratingacross member or head of they bracket,
Figure 6 is a sectional view taken on the line 6-6 of Figure 2.
Figure 7 is a perspective view illustrating one of the scaffold board or plank'supporting mem- .bers.
Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral 5 indicates a vertically arranged leg member constructed from angle iron and the walls thereof are provided with spaced openings 6. The openings of one of the walls of the leg are for the purpose of receiving fasteners such as nails or the like when desiring to fix the leg onto a supporting structure while the openings in the other wall of the leg are for the purpose of permitting a suspension hook I to be adjusted at' various places along the leg and which includes" in its construction an eye 8. i
L-shaped brackets 9 are bolted or otherwise secured to one wall of the leg member adjacent the upper end of the latter and are boltedor otherwise secured on a cross member or head I!) constructed of angle iron with one wall thereof supporting members l3 extending at rightangles to saidcross member or head and each of;tubu1ar 1 .formation and each internally screw. threaded. Threaded, into the-ends of the members 13 are :front" and rear, screw v threaded stems l4 and I5; {The stems l4' have-upstanding ends J16 integral therewith and provided With'openingst-UL' The stems 1-5 have formed thereon upstanding hookshaped members 18 also provided with openings l9, The upstanding .ehdsFlG coact with the ver- .--tical .wall of; the cross memberor head" II] in" clamping on the membersil 3.:a scaffold plank or board and nails or like fasteners may be passed through the openings l1 and driven into the plank or board-if it isdesired' to fix the board or plank onto the members l3. The hook-shaped "elements 68 are adapted to engage over a supporting structure and coact with the hook member l insupporting thedevice on the supporting A structure.
Nails'or like fasteners may extend through structure if itis desired to fix the device onto the supporting structure.
' are provided with screw threaded openings, the members 13 also I being provided -with screw threadedopenings aligning with the openings of the members 20 to'receive stud bolts 2| for securing on the members !3 a cross member or head 22 of angle iron construction. A U clamp 23 is connected to the cross head or member'22 and is adapted to' extend through an eye formed in one E T 1; y
the openings 19 and be driven into the supporting end ofa turn buckle type brace '24 while the .other 'endeye thereof is connected with the eye 801 the hook 'I'. The turn buckle type brace 24 includes the screwthreaded stems on which the eyes are formed and which are threaded in opposite directions to be threaded into a connecting sleeve 25. The purpose of the brace being adjustable as to length is to permit adjusting members l3 while under load.
- A bracket of the character shown in the drawreadily adapted on poles, upright posts, scaffold jacks and the like by simply bringing-the hook elements 'I and I 8 into engagement with or the "-ings and heretofore described in detailmay be the screw threads of thestems [5 when adjustments are beingmade on the device.
It is believed that the foregoing description, when taken in connection with the drawings will fully set forth the construction and advan- I tages of this invention to those skilled in the art to which such a device relates, so that further detailed description will not be required.
What I claim is: 1. A scafiold bracket comprising cross heads, scafiold plank sup orting members secured on said cross heads and including means to cooperate with one of the heads in gripping a scaffold plank arranged on said members, a leg member securedto one of the cross heads, sup:
port attaching means carried by theleg and, said plank supporting members, andbrace means connecting the leg to the other cross head.
2. A scafiold bracket comprising cross heads, scaiiold plank supporting members engaging said cross heads, means securing said members on thecro'ss heads, stems threaded on opposite ends of said members and certain of said stems including hook-shaped upstanding portions and the other stems including upstanding portions'to coact with one of the cross heads in securing a scaffold plank .on said members, a leg connected to one of the cross members, a brace means between the leg and the other cross head, and a hook carried bythe leg to coact with the hookshaped portions of certain of said stems in sus-' pending the leg and the supporting members on a supporting structure. 1
3. A scafiold bracket comprising cross heads of angle iron construction, tubular members engaging said cross heads, U clamps connecting said members to one of the cross heads, stud bolts securing the other cross head to said members, stems threaded in opposite ends of said members and having upturned ends with the upturned ends of certain of said stems shaped to form hooks, a leg of angle iron construction secured on one of the cross heads and having openings to receive fasteners for securing the leg to a support, a hook adjustably mounted on the leg to coact with the first-named hooks in suspending the leg and the supporting members turned ends of certain of said stems shaped to form hooks, a leg of. angle iron construction secured on one of the cross heads and having openings to receive fasteners for securing the leg to a support, a hook adjustablymounted on the leg to coact with the first-named hooks in suspending the leg and the supporting members on a supporting structure, and a turn buckle type brace pivotally connected to the leg and to the othercross head.
