vide such equipment so that it may readily be.
adjusted for use by either right or left-handed persons and so that the supplies for the operations 15 are readily accessible to either right or lefthanded persons.
The foregoing and other purposes of the invention are attained in the fly-making equipment illustrated in the accompanying drawing and 20 described below. It is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the specific form thereof shown and described.
Of the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a plan view of a fly-making equip- 25 ment which embodies the invention.
Figure 2 is a front elevation thereof.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral Ill designates a suitable base at the front of which is arranged a standard H. The standard ll is 30 preferably so secured to base III as by nuts I2 and i3 threaded onto the bottom thereof respectively above and below the base that the standard ll may be turned to various angular positions by loosening the nuts 12 and I3 and secured in 35 difierent angular positions for a purpose to be explained.
The standard H is preferably constructed in two parts comprising a lower socket member H slidably but non-rotatably receiving the reduced 40 end of an upper standard member I I whereby the upper part of the standard may be removed from the lower to facilitate shipping of the equipment in a compact package. The upper standard member il may have a reduced upper 45 end M over which may be placed a spool is of fiy-tylng thread.
Secured to the upper standard member it is an arm it which may be bifurcated at its outer end as at it, it to provide yieldable clamp mem- 50 bars having jaws l'i, I1 arranged to be tightened upon or loosened from the work by means of a bolt is extending through the bifurcations it and having a clamp-operating thumb-nut is threaded thereon. The upper portion H of the -55 standard may also have a hook 2i) or other suitable support thereon to hold a pair of scissors 2| in a convenient position for use in cutting fiy-tying thread during the operations of tying flies on the equipment.
The bifurcations It may be rounded as at It;
Mi to provide an aperture through which the bottom of a post 22 may be extended whereby the post 22 may be removably secured, if desired, on the clamp by means of a nut 23. The post may support by a universal joint 24 an arm 25 'to which by a universal joint 26is secured a glass or lens 21 for use to magnify the work facilitate fiy-tying operations.
By adjustably attaching standard II to the base, arm l5 may be secured in positions extend- 5 ing either to the right of the front of the equipment (as shown) or to the left whereby the equipment can be adjusted for use by either right or left-handed persons. The arm i5 can be set at any desired angle most convenient to the person using the equipment.
0n the base 90 at the front thereof, there may be arranged a pin 28 for removably supporting another spool 29 of the same or a different thread than spool 54, and also there may be provided a receptacle 30 for a piece or lump of wax 32' used for waxing the thread as will be understood by skilled artisans.
Rearwardly of the base from the standard ll there is provided a casing II for one or more 30 drawers 32, 32, the right and left ends of the casing being open so that the drawers may be pushed out of either end by an operator. An operator may, if right-handed, push the drawers out of the right end of the casing (as indicated 35 in the drawing) by pushing on the left ends of the drawers with the left hand, and a left-handed operator may push on the right ends of the drawers with the right hand to push the left ends of the drawers out of the casing. The drawers may contain feathers, squirrel tail and other materials such as are used for constructing flies.
On top of the casing 3| there are shown several containers 33, 33. These may have transparent tops as indicated and may be used to hold supplies of fish hooks 34, 3d of various sizes and typ s.
Rearwardly of easing 3|, on base I0, there may be provided a receptacle 35 for finished flies.
This may be transparent or may have a transparent top. At either side of receptacle 35 there may be transparent containers 36 and 31 for tools or appliances. One of these may contain an ordinary pair of tweezers (not shown) and the other an ordinary spring clamp such as shown at pollflonthemollteddeiotpldbue for me mm I m m 4 mmmm wmm mmmm m M m mm m m m x m fi m m m m Wwmmm mm m. m wmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmm "m m M w Mam m mm mmmmmm WWW mmm WW m mam wmmmwmmm m m w m m mm mmmmm mm m mm w m w mmnmmm m m wm mm mmmm m m w whmm mmm mm ummmm "tl'aeereinomlthgnun,
