This invention relates to dispensing devices for sealed containers as for instance cans now employed in the sale of lubricants and has for the primary object the provision of a device of this 5 character which may be readily adapted to and removed from a container and during the application to the latter will vent said can so that the contents of said container may be easily and quickly pumpedtherefrom as needed by a simple in manipulation of this device.
With these and other objects in View, this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and i5 claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which V Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view illustrating 20 a combined device for opening sealed cans and for pumping the contents therefrom.
Figure 2 is a top plan view illustrating the same.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral l indicates a main frame including right angu- 5 larly arranged portions 2 and 3. The portion 2 has secured thereto a handle 4 and also has secured thereto a hinge element 5 to which is hinged a separable strap 6. The free end of one of the sections of the separable strap is bent to form a 30 keeper I, and the other section of the strap is equipped with a slot 8 and a pivoted lever B. The strap 6 is adapted to be placed about a sealed container in with the portion 3 overlying the container and the portion 2 arranged vertically to with respect to the container.

40 Secured to the portion 3 of the frame I is a pump cylinder l, one end of which is in the form of a penetrating element H and the other end is closed by a removable stufiing gland or box 12. A spring pressed check valve l3 operates 45 in conjunction with a seat 14 in the pump cylinder. A valved piston I is slidably mounted in the cylinder l0 and the stem l6 thereof extends through the stuiilng box l2. A hand operated lever I1 is pivoted to the portion 3 of the frame I so and has pivoted thereto one end of a substantially L-shaped link I8, the other end of the lever being pivoted to the end of the stem it of the piston.

A vent forming element 20 is secured to the portion 3 0f the frame I and one end thereof forms a seat for one end of a coil spring 2|, the other end of the spring engaging the hand lever I! for 5 urging the piston l5 to its lowermost position in the cylinder. The other end of the element 20 is sharpened so as to penetrate a container when brought into engagement therewith.
In operation, before applying the 'split band B to the container, the frame I is brought into engagement with said container whereby the pump valve and vent element pierce the container, the pump valve terminating adjacent the lower end of the container. The split band 6 is then applied to the container thereby firmly securing the frame to the container. By pressing and releasing the hand lever the piston I5 will be reciprocated dispensing the contents of the container by way of the spout l9. 20
The pump cylinder I0 is detachably secured to the portion 3 of the frame I, as shown at 22.
Having described the, invention, I claim:
1. A dispensing device for sealed containers comprising a frame, a pump cylinder secured to said frame and having a penetrating end adapted to puncture and enter a container when the frame is adapted to said container, apiston operable in said cylinder, a check valve in said cylinder, a spout connected to the cylinder, a spring pressed hand operated lever pivoted to said frame and connected to the piston, a handle secured to the frame, a vent forming means secured to said frame for the penetration of the container during the application of the frame to the container, and means for detachably securing the frame to the container.
2. A dispensing device for sealed containers comprising a frame, a pump cylinder secured to said frame and having a penetrating end adapted to puncture and enter a container when the frame is adapted tosaid container, a piston operable in said cylinder, at check valve in said cylinder, a spout connected to the cylinder, a spring pressed hand operated lever pivoted to said frame and connected to the piston, a handle secured to the frame, a vent forming means secured to said frame for the penetration of the container during the application of the frame to the container, 9. split band hinged to the frame, and a fastening means for drawing the split band tightly about the container.
