FIGS. 1-2 depict afood package 10, preferably made of cellophane or other flexible plastic material, withFIG. 1 showing thefood package 10 in an open state, andFIG. 2 showing the food package in a closed state. Thefood package 10 ofFIGS. 1-2 includes a pouch orcontainer 12 having a closedbottom 14 and an open oropenable top 16. Thepouch 12 is designed to hold a food item, such as a cookie, therein. Attached to afront 18 of thecontainer 12 is alabel 20, variations of which are described in more detail below. Atop portion 22 of thecontainer 12, which terminates at thetop 16, can be folded over along afold line 24 and attached to another portion of the package to result in the closed package shown inFIG. 2 . - A first embodiment of a food package 10 a is depicted in
FIGS. 3 a, 3 b, and 3 c. The reference numeral 10 a generally designates a first embodiment of the present invention. Since the food package 10 a is similar to the previously describedfood package 10, similar parts appearing inFIGS. 3 a, 3 b, and 3 c are represented by the same, corresponding reference number, except for the suffix “a” in the numerals of the latter. The container 12 a is preferably one piece and made of a transparent material. The container has a front 18 a and a back 19 a. The front has a foldable top portion 22 a, a first side edge 26 a, a second side edge 28 a, and a bottom 30 a. The back 19 a has a top 32 a, a first side edge 34 a, a second side edge 36 a, and a bottom 38 a. The front first side edge 26 a is attached to the back first side edge 34 a, the front second side edge 28 a is attached to the back second side edge 36 a, and the front bottom 30 a is attached to the back bottom 38 a. In the open state, the front top portion 22 a is not attached to the back top 32 a, but the front top portion 22 a is releasably attachable to the back 19 a, such as via use of an adhesive. This structure results in an openable and closable transparent pouch-like container. - The food package 10 a includes a front label 20 a which has a top layer 40 a and a bottom layer 42 a. The top layer 40 a is shown having a corner 44 a pulled away from the bottom layer 42 a in
FIG. 3 a. The top layer 40 a is attached to the bottom layer 42 a by an adhesive, allowing the top layer 40 a to be easily completely removed from the bottom layer 42 a, and thus the food package 10 a. The top layer 40 a has a front side 46 a and a rear side 48 a. The removal of the top layer 40 a can be achieved such as by peeling with one hand while the other hand holds the remainder of the food package 10 a. After the top layer 40 a is removed from the remainder of the package 10 a, the bottom layer 42 a remains attached to the front 18 a of the package 10 a as shown inFIG. 3 b. The rear side 48 a of the top layer 40 a is then visible, as shown inFIG. 3 c, and preferably contains text or a graphic 50 a. - The
reference numeral 10 b (FIGS. 4 a, 4 b, and 4 c) generally designates another, second embodiment of the present invention. Since thefood package 10 b is similar to the previously describedfood packages 10 and 10 a, similar parts appearing inFIGS. 1-3 c are represented by the same, corresponding reference number, except for the suffix “b” in the numerals of the latter. Thecontainer 12 b is preferably one piece and made of a transparent material. The container has afront 18 b and aback 19 b. The front has afoldable top portion 22 b, afirst side edge 26 b, asecond side edge 28 b, and abottom 30 b. Theback 19 b has atop 32 b, afirst side edge 34 b, asecond side edge 36 b, and abottom 38 b. The frontfirst side edge 26 b is attached to the backfirst side edge 34 b, the frontsecond side edge 28 b is attached to the backsecond side edge 36 b, and thefront bottom 30 b is attached to theback bottom 38 b. In the open state, thefront top portion 22 b is not attached to theback top 32 b, but thefront top portion 22 b is releasably attachable to theback 19 b, such as via use of an adhesive. This structure results in an openable and closable transparent pouch-like container. - The
food package 10 b has asimilar label 20 b to that of the food package 10 a in the first embodiment. That is, thefront label 20 b includes atop layer 40 b, which is completely removable from abottom layer 42 b. However, in this embodiment, thelabel 20 b includes text orgraphics 50 b on afront side 52 b of thebottom layer 42 b (seeFIG. 4 b). In this embodiment, thetop layer 40 b does not have text or graphics on itsrear side 48 b, as depicted inFIG. 4 c. Alternatively, it is contemplated that both thefront side 52 b of thebottom layer 42 b as well as therear side 48 b of thetop layer 40 b could have text and/orgraphics 50 b thereon. - The reference numeral 10 c (
FIGS. 5 a, 5 b, and 5 c) generally designates a third embodiment of the present invention. Since the food package 10 c is similar to the previously describedfood packages FIGS. 1-4 c are represented by the same, corresponding reference number, except for the suffix “c” in the numerals of the latter. The container 12 c is preferably one piece and made of a transparent material. The container has a front 18 c and a back 19 c. The front has a foldable top portion 22 c, a first side edge 26 c, a second side edge 28 c, and a bottom 30 c. The back 19 c has a top 32 c, a first side edge 34 c, a second side edge 36 c, and a bottom 38 c. The front first side edge 26 c is attached to the back first side edge 34 c, the front second side edge 28 c is attached to the back second side edge 36 c, and the front bottom 30 c is attached to the back bottom 38 c. In the open state, the front top portion 22 c is not attached to the back top 32 c, but the front top portion 22 c is releasably attachable to the back 19 c, such as via use of an adhesive. This structure results in an openable and closable transparent pouch-like container. - In this third embodiment, the food package 10 c has a label 20 c that is a single layer 40 c. In other words, the label 20 c of the food package 10 c has no bottom layer. The label 20 c is removably attached to the front 18 c of the food package 10 c. After removal of the label 20 c, the remainder of the food package 10 c has no front label (see
FIG. 5 b) and the label 20 c can be turned over to reveal text or graphics 50 c on the rear side 48 c of the single layer 40 c of the label 20 c, as shown inFIG. 5 c. - A fourth embodiment of a
food package 10 d is depicted inFIGS. 6 a, 6 b, and 6 c. Thereference numeral 10 d (FIGS. 6 a, 6 b, 6 c) generally designates another embodiment of the present invention. Since thefood package 10 d is similar to the previously describedfood packages FIGS. 1-5 c are represented by the same, corresponding reference number, except for the suffix “d” in the numerals of the latter. Thecontainer 12 d is preferably one piece and made of a transparent material. The container has a front 18 d and a back 19 d. The front has a foldabletop portion 22 d, afirst side edge 26 d, a second side edge 28 d, and a bottom 30 d. The back 19 d has a top 32 d, afirst side edge 34 d, asecond side edge 36 d, and a bottom 38 d. The frontfirst side edge 26 d is attached to the backfirst side edge 34 d, the front second side edge 28 d is attached to the backsecond side edge 36 d, and thefront bottom 30 d is attached to the back bottom 38 d. In the open state, the fronttop portion 22 d is not attached to the back top 32 d, but the fronttop portion 22 d is releasably attachable to the back 19 d, such as via use of an adhesive. This structure results in an openable and closable transparent pouch-like container. - In this embodiment, the
food package 10 d has afront label 20 d which is not intended to be removed. Thelabel 20 d is preferably strongly adhered to the front 18 d of thefood package 10 d. The pouch orcontainer 12 d defines an interior 53 d, in which a food item and an inner card orbooklet 54 d may reside. Thefood package 10 d may be opened by peeling atop portion 22 d away from the back 19 d of thefood package 10 d. The card orbooklet 54 d can then be removed from thecontainer 12 d resulting in anopen container 12 d (seeFIG. 6 b) and a separate card orbooklet 54 d, as shown inFIG. 6 c. The card orbooklet 54 d has text and/orgraphics 50 d thereon which become visible upon removal of the card orbooklet 54 d from thecontainer 12 d. - The text or graphics of the labels, card, or booklet may be any desired text or graphics, but it preferably includes a comical saying or a joke.
