Abstract

A method and apparatus providing for attaching a firearm, toy gun, airsoft gun, replica gun, or other dischargeable weapon to clothing or other garments worn by a user. Wherein said method and apparatus involves a clip utilizing friction between the clip and a serrated portion of the dischargeable device. Wherein said firearm, toy gun, airsoft gun, replica gun, or other dischargeable weapon may be concealed by the user.

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The application relates to a method and apparatus for attaching a pistol to an article of clothing or the like, particularly during concealed carry of the weapon.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Prior Art

It is common amongst law enforcement, security personnel, military personnel, and other shooters to employ concealed carry to carry small firearms, particularly handguns, inconspicuously. Concealed carry is often achieved by carrying firearms under any number of layers of clothing or attaching firearms to inner layers of clothing. The latter method is most often utilized because it allows the user to have both hands free and draws less attention to the hidden firearm.
To attach such firearms to inner clothing a clip, often referred to as a belt clip, but not necessarily confined to clipping to belts, is used. According to the prior art, such clips were often attached to the body of the handgun or to the back face of the slide rail. These methods only allow a minimal portion of the weapon to be concealed under the belt, pant, or other corresponding material. To allow for greater concealment of the weapon, other methods of the prior art utilize screws or welds to permanently attach clips to the firearm, but these methods involved high levels of skill as well as risk of damage to the firearm and to the user. Also, it is takes professional-level skill to remove these clips when the user no longer desires to use the weapon in a concealed manner.
There exists a need for a firearm clip that can be reversibly employed on a firearm such that the firearm may be effectively concealed under a user's clothing or other garments.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Objects and Advantages

Accordingly, several objects and advantages of this invention are:

- (a) To allow for greater concealment in concealed carry situations;
- (b) To allow for firm support of the dischargeable device without direct support from the user's hands;
- (c) To allow for hands-free concealed carry in concealed carry situations;

Further objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent from a consideration of the drawings and ensuing description.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The following summary is provided to facilitate an understanding of some of the innovative features unique to the embodiments and is not intended to be a full description. A full appreciation of the various aspects of the embodiments can be gained by taking the entire specification, claims, drawings, and abstract as a whole.
In accordance with the present invention a method and apparatus for attaching a pistol or other weapon to clothing or the like, particularly to aid in concealed carry.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a handgun according to the prior art.

FIG. 2 is an isolated close-up view of the weapon clip, according to certain embodiments of the present invention.

So that the manner in which the above recited features, advantages and objects of the present invention are attained and can be understood in detail, a more particular description of the invention, briefly summarized above, may be had by reference to the preferred embodiment thereof which is illustrated in the appended drawings, which drawings are incorporated as a part hereof.
It is to be noted however, that the appended drawings illustrate only a typical embodiment of this invention and are therefore not to be considered limiting of its scope, for the invention may admit to other equally effective embodiments.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION—FIGS. 1, 2

With reference now to the drawings, the preferred embodiment of the weapon clip according to the present invention is herein described. As can be seen in FIG. 1, according to the prior art, the plain weapon rail cannot be clipped on to anything on its own. Furthermore, the configuration of the plain weapon rail is not conducive to effective concealed carry of the weapon. In certain embodiments of the prior art, body screw 50 is removed and replaced by a clip (not shown) which can be used to attach pistol 100 to the clothing of the user, thus allowing and enhancing concealed carry. In another embodiment of the prior art, pistol rail rear face 51 is removed and replaced by a clip (not shown) which can be used to attach pistol 100 to the clothing of the user, thus allowing and enhancing concealed carry.
According to certain embodiments, as shown in FIG. 2, in the present invention, pistol clip 41 is configured such that it may effectively attach the weapon system to another surface or material, such as that of the user's clothing.
As shown in FIG. 4, according to certain embodiments, in the present invention, pistol clip 41 attaches to clamp 31. Clamp 31 engages serrations 21 on pistol rail 20 such that pistol clip 41 is held firmly in place relative to pistol rail 20.
The foregoing description of the invention has been presented for purposes of illustration and description. It is not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise form disclosed, and other modifications and variations may be possible in light of the above teachings. The embodiment was chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical application to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the invention in various embodiments and various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated. It is intended that the appended claims be construed to include other alternative embodiments of the invention except insofar as limited by the prior art.
The invention may be embodied in other forms without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof. The present embodiments are therefore to be considered as illustrative and not restrictive, the scope of the invention being indicated by the appended claims rather than by the foregoing description, and all changes that come within the meaning and range of equivalency of the claims are therefore intended to be embraced therein.

OPERATION—FIGS. 1, 4

According to certain embodiments of the prior art, as shown in FIG. 1, body screw 50 is removed and replaced by a clip (not shown) which can be used to attach pistol 100 to the clothing of the user, thus allowing and enhancing concealed carry. In another embodiment of the prior art, pistol rail rear face 51 is removed and replaced by a clip (not shown) which can be used to attach pistol 100 to the clothing of the user, thus allowing and enhancing concealed carry.
According to certain embodiments of the present invention, as shown in FIG. 4, pistol clip 41 hooks pistol rail 20 to clothing, tactical apparel, or other corresponding garment (not shown) such that the dischargeable device as a whole is snugly held by the clothing, tactical apparel, or other corresponding garment (not shown).
According to certain embodiments of the present invention, as shown in FIG. 4, pistol clip 41 attaches to clamp 31 which engages the serrated portion 21 of pistol slide rail 20. Clamp 31 attaches to pistol slide rail 20 by snugly fitting in the serrated trough between two raised portions of the serrated portion 21 of the pistol slide rail 20.

CONCLUSION, RAMIFICATIONS, SCOPE

Thus, the reader will see that the method and apparatus will provide for attaching a pistol or other weapon to clothing or the like, particularly to aid in concealed carry. While the above description contains many specifications, these should not be construed as limitations of the scope of the invention, but rather as an exemplification of a preferred embodiment of the invention. Many other variations and embodiments are possible.
Accordingly, the scope of the invention should be determined not by the embodiment illustrated, but by the appended claims and their legal equivalents.

Claims

I claim:

1. A clip for a dischargeable device comprising:

A means to attach said clip to a serrated portion of said dischargeable device;

A means to attach said clip to any clothing, tactical apparel, or other corresponding garments;

2. The means to attach said clip to clothing from claim 1 wherein said means conceals a significant portion of the dischargeable device underneath said clothing, tactical apparel, or other corresponding garments.

3. The means to attach said clip to the serrated portion of said dischargeable device from claim 1 wherein said means utilizes a clamp, adhesive, magnetic force, friction, or other means to attach said clip to said serrated portion of the dischargeable device.

4. The clip from claim 1 wherein said clip can be attached to multiple points on the serrated portion of the dischargeable device;

5. The clip from claim 4, wherein said clip can be transferred from one serration to another by the shooter.

6. The clip from claim 1 wherein said clip can be attached to multiple types of handguns which utilize serrations.

7. The clip from claim 1 wherein said clip utilizes claw-like ends which reach underneath the slide rail of the dischargeable device.

8. A dischargeable device comprising:

A clip providing for the attachment of said dischargeable device to any clothing, tactical apparel, or other corresponding garments;

Wherein said clip is attached to the dischargeable device at the serrated portion of said dischargeable device;

9. The dischargeable device from claim 8 wherein a significant portion of said dischargeable device is concealed underneath said clothing, tactical apparel, or other corresponding garments when said dischargeable device is clipped to said clothing, tactical apparel, or other corresponding garments.

10. The dischargeable device from claim 8 wherein said clip is attached to the serrated portion of said dischargeable device utilizing a clamp, adhesive, magnetic force, friction, or other means.

11. The clip from claim 8 wherein said clip can be attached to multiple points on the serrated portion of the dischargeable device;

12. The clip from claim 11, wherein said clip can be transferred from one serration to another by the shooter.

13. The clip from claim 11 wherein said clip can be attached to multiple types of handguns which utilize serrations.

14. The clip from claim 8 wherein said clip utilizes claw-like ends which reach underneath the slide rail of the dischargeable device.
