If thereceiver 33 is provided as the receiving groove, which is opened with only the insertion hole, theconnector 17 may be provided on a side opposite to the insertion hole of an inner wall of thereceiver 33. In other words, if thereceiver 33 has both sides opened along the insertion path, thePOD card 40 may be inserted at one side, and theconnector 17 is disposed at the other side. However, if thereceiver 33 has only one side opened along the insertion path, theconnector 17 may be disposed on the inner wall opposite to the insertion hole. - A side of the
receiver 33 coupled with theheat radiator 32 may be opened (refer toFIG. 2 ). In this case, thePOD card 40 is directly in contact with theheat radiator 32, thereby efficiently transferring the heat generated from thePOD card 40 to theheat radiator 32. Theelastic member 36 accommodated in thereceiver 33 forces the accommodatedPOD card 40 toward theheat radiator 32 so that thePOD card 40 is forced into close contact with theheat radiator 32. Theelastic member 36 may be provided as a leaf spring in which a middle area is bent toward theheat radiator 32. Therefore, if thePOD card 40 is accommodated into thereceiver 33, thePOD card 40 is closely adhered to theheat radiator 32 by the leaf spring, thereby efficiently transferring the heat generated from thePOD card 40 to theheat radiator 32. Further, theelastic member 36 may be provided as an elastic pad such as a sponge. - The plurality of cooling
fins 35 is provided on a side of theheat radiator 32 to dissipate the heat transferred to theheat radiator 32 from thePOD card 40. The coolingfins 35 have large surface areas to perform a maximum amount of heat exchange with external air. - As described above, the heat radiation member usable with the card type
electronic component 30 according to the present embodiment provides theheat radiator 32 and thecard mounting part 34 separately, so that it is easy to manufacture theheat radiation member 30 for the card type electronic component. Further thePOD card 40 is directly in contact with theheat radiator 32, so that the heat is transferred by conductivity, thereby enhancing cooling efficiency. Further, theheat radiation member 30 of present embodiment does not use a cooling fan, thereby decreasing noise and saving additional expenses. -
FIG. 4 is a perspective view illustrating aheat radiation member 30′ usable with a card type electronic component according to another embodiment of the present general inventive concept. Some of the components of the present embodiment are similar to components of the embodiment illustrated inFIGS. 2 and 3 , and may be referred to by same reference numbers. As illustrated inFIG. 4 , theheat radiation member 30′ usable with the card type electronic component according to the present embodiment includes aheat radiator 32 and acard mounting part 34. Theheat radiator 32 has amain body 31 formed with a plurality of coolingfins 35, and thecard mounting part 34 comprises areceiver 33 to accommodate aPOD card 40. Herein, thereceiver 33 may include anelastic member 36′ which presses the accommodatedPOD card 40 toward the receiver 33 (as opposed to the embodiment ofFIGS. 2 and 3 where the elastic member presses thePOD card 40 towards the heat radiator 32). - The
main body 31 may include thereceiver 33 to accommodate thePOD card 40, and the plurality of coolingfins 35 to dissipate the heat generated from thePOD card 40 to the outside. Themain body 31 may have various shapes that receive thePOD card 40. Further, themain body 31, as illustrated inFIG. 4 , may couple to adisplay driving part 15 of a display apparatus 10 (seeFIG. 5 ), and to arear cover 12. Themain body 31 may be made of a heat conductive material such as aluminum, copper, titanium, and the like. - The
receiver 33 may be formed in themain body 31 to accommodate thePOD card 40. A shape of thereceiver 33 may correspond to a shape of thePOD card 40 to be accommodated therein. When using a card type electronic component of a different type, thereceiver 33 may correspond to the shape and the size thereof. Thereceiver 33 may correspond to the size of thePOD card 40 so that thePOD card 40 is in contact with an inner wall of thereceiver 33. In this case, the heat generated by thePOD card 40 is conducted through thereceiver 33 to be transferred to the coolingfins 35, thereby being discharged and/or dissipated by a heat-exchange between the coolingfins 35 and the external air that surrounds the coolingfins 35. - As illustrated in
FIG. 4 , theheat radiation member 30′ further comprises theelastic member 36′ to press thePOD card 40 toward thereceiver 33 so that thePOD card 40 is in close contact with thereceiver 33. For example, theelastic member 36′ may be provided as the leaf spring or a pad type. Theelastic member 36′ applies pressure on thePOD card 40, thereby increasing a contact area between thePOD card 40 and themain body 31 to conduct more heat to the coolingfins 35. - The
receiver 33 may be provided as a pass through hole in which both end sides of thereceiver 33 are opened, and may be provided as a receiving groove in which a side of thereceiver 33 is opened. When thereceiver 33 is provided as the pass through hole, theconnector 17 may be provided in an opposite side of an insertion hole inserted with thePOD card 40, to electrically connect with thePOD card 40. When thereceiver 33 is provided as the receiving groove, theconnector 17 may be provided in a side of an inner wall of thereceiver 33. - The
receiver 33 may be provided with a card withdrawing bar 37 (same as illustrated in the embodiment ofFIG. 2 ) to withdraw thePOD card 40. Thecard withdrawing bar 37 may be projected from thereceiver 33 when thePOD card 40 is inserted. In this case, the insertedPOD card 40 pushed by thecard withdrawing bar 37 to withdraw thePOD card 40 from thereceiver 33. - As described above, in the
heat radiation member 30′ usable with the card type electronic component according to the present embodiment, thereceiver 33 to accommodate thePOD card 40 is integrally formed with the coolingfins 35 which discharge and/or dissipate the heat generated from thePOD card 40, thereby minimizing a volume of the heat radiation member for the card type electronic component, and enhancing the cooling efficiency by efficiently transferring the heat from thePOD card 40 to the coolingfins 35. Because the various embodiments present general inventive concept do not use a cooling fan, there is no noise generated and the additional expenses caused by using a cooling fan are avoided. - An operation of the heat radiation member (30 or 30′) usable with the card type electronic component incorporated in a
display apparatus 10 will be described with reference toFIG. 5 . The heat radiation member (30 or 30′) usable with the card type electronic component according to the above described embodiments of the present general inventive concept may be employed in thedisplay apparatus 10 illustrated inFIG. 5 . -
FIG. 5 is an exploded perspective view illustrating thedisplay apparatus 10 having the heat radiation member 30 (or 30′) to dissipate heat generated by the card type electronic component. As illustrated therein, thedisplay apparatus 10 of the present embodiment includes animage display part 13 to display images, adisplay driving part 15 to drive theimage display part 13, and afront cover 11 and arear cover 12 to respectively accommodate thedisplay part 13 and thedisplay driving part 15 and to form an outer appearance of thedisplay apparatus 10. - The
display driving part 15 is provided behind theimage display part 13, and a connector (not shown) is provided in an area of thedisplay driving part 15 to electrically connect with aPOD card 40. Acard insertion hole 16 which corresponds to thereceiver 33 is provided in therear cover 12 so that thePOD card 40 is detachably inserted therein from outside thedisplay apparatus 10. - The
POD card 40 is inserted into thereceiver 33 of the heat radiation member 30 (or 30′) through thecard insertion hole 16 provided in therear cover 12. An end part of the insertedPOD card 40 is electrically connected with theconnector 17 through thereceiver 33, and a remaining part of the POD card 40 (except for the end part) maintains contact with thereceiver 33. Theelastic member 36′ may press thePOD card 40 toward thereceiver 33 to force a contact between thereceiver 33 and thePOD card 40, as described with reference to the embodiment ofFIG. 4 . Alternatively, theelastic member 36 may press thePOD card 40 toward theheat radiator 32, as described with reference to the embodiment ofFIGS. 2-3 . When theheat radiation member 30 is provided as in the embodiment illustrated inFIG. 2 , a side coupled with theheat radiator 32 in thereceiver 33 may be opened. In this case, thePOD card 40 is directly in contact with theheat radiator 32, thereby efficiently transferring the heat from thePOD card 40 to theheat radiator 32. Therefore, the heat generated by thePOD card 40 is transferred to the coolingfins 35 through the contactedheat radiator 32, and the heat is dissipated by heat-exchange with the external air around the coolingfins 35. - Therefore, the
display apparatus 10 having the heat radiation member 30 (or 30′) usable with the card type electronic component may efficiently dissipate the heat generated by thePOD card 40, so that the heat generated by thePOD card 40 is not transferred to thedisplay driving part 15 or theimage display part 13, thereby preventing deterioration of the image quality and malfunction of thedisplay apparatus 10. Further, because a cooling fan is not used, noise is not generated and the additional expenses caused by using of the cooling fan are avoided. - Although a few embodiments of the present general inventive concept have been shown and described, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that changes may be made in these embodiments without departing from the principles and spirit of the general inventive concept, the scope of which is defined in the appended claims and their equivalents.
