This wall 6 is substantially parallel with the bottom wall 5. The portion 6 is disposed in an inclined position with respectto the top wall andthe front wall, as clearly shown in the sectional views, Figs. 5 and 7, and the portion 6 is brought into engagement with the inner face of the front wall and may be secured thereto by gluing or otherwise, as may be desirable or advantageous in the process of manufacture. The flap or closure 'Z'forms an extension of the rear wall 2 and has a tongue preferably bent on parallel lines to define the portions 7 and 7 which are inserted in the slot 9; such closure flap partly overlying the top wall 6 and in such relation thereto that the tongue portions 7 and 7* may enter said slot. This slot is very narrow so that its walls are in frictional engagement with the tongue, and serve to hold the flap in closed position; the portions 7 and 'Z occupying substantially the position illustrated in F 5.
lit will be understood that the shape of the blank is not material as long as a structure such as illustrated in Figure 1 of the drawings is produced, and in Figs. 3 and l I have shown modified forms of blanks.
The blank shown in Fig. 3 is substantially like that shown in Fig. 2, except that the portion 6 is extended as indicated at 6 so as to provide portions to lie within the box against the front and bottom walls and underneath the cigarettes, as'clearly indicated in the sectional view, Fig. 6.
In the use of a blank such as illustrated in Fig. 4, the'end walls 3 and 4: may be provided with extensions 3 and 4 which may be attached by suitable adhesive to the front wall 1; inside or outside as the case maybe.
'The bottom wall 5 may lie between the front and rear walls 1 and 2, and may be provided with the extensions 5 which will be bent into upstanding position 7 for engagement with the lower part of the end walls '3 and 4. i

A box or carton comprising a shell receiving vendible unitspsaid shell having an opening at one end less in width than the body portion and the wall of such end being inturned to form a=hollow space occupying a portion of said end of the box and the upper wall of said space being slotted and the opposite wall of the box having a closure member witha tongue adapted to enter said space through said slot; said tongue serving as a shelf'to receive a contained unit when the box is inverted after opening the same.
5. A structure such as set forth'in claim 1, comprising front and rear walls and end walls; some of said walls havingextensions for permanent engagement with other walls one of said first-mentioned walls having an extended portion foldableinto a hollow chamber disposed within the main shell.
