PRICE TICKET HOLDER Filed Jan. 20, 1927 H INVENTORS HERMAN/V HDPP 6 Z50 fioPp IE ATTORNEYS Patented July 1, 1930 PATENT OFFICE HERMANN HOP? AND LEO HOPIP, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
PRICE-TICKET HOLDER Application filed January 20, 1927. Serial No. 162,286.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in display devices and it pertains more particularly to price ticket holders.
It'is one of the primary objects of the pres- I out invention to provide a device of the above mentioned character which will not only indicate the price of the article in connection with which it is displayed, but will also identify the article.
It is a further object of the invention to so construct a device of this character that the tickets are removable, thus rendering the device capable of use in connection with all classes of merchandise and at any price.
While the invention is herein shown as embodied in a price ticket holder of the type adapted to be attached directly to the article of merchandise in connection with which it is. displayed, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to use in this connection but may be applied to price ticket holders adapted for attachment to shelves on which the merchandise is displayed or to containers Figure 5 is a view in front elevation of a modified form of the invention;
Figure 6 is an edge view of said modified form, and
Figure 7 is a view in rear elevation of said modified form.
Referring in detail to the drawings and particularly to Figures 1 to 3 thereof, the de vice comprises a main body portion 10 of any suitable material, preferably-a light metal, and said body portion 10 is formed with longitudinally extending reinforcing ribs 11 and a transversely extending reinforcing rib 12.
This body portion 10 is preferably of elongated form, but in any form, it has two of its opposed edges rolled inwardly or otherwise formed with ticket retaining guide flanges such as 14 and 15'. A center guide member 15 is provided, and this guide member 15 is preferably in the form of a channel memberadapted for seating in thechannel formed by the reinforcing rib 12, it being understood that the reinforcing ribs 11 and 12 heretofore mentioned are struck from the front of the body portion to the rear thereof. The sides of the channel shaped guide member 15 are formed with outwardly disposed flanges 16, and since the depth of the guide member-15 is greater than that of-the channel in which itseats, the flanges 16 will be spaced with respect to the front face of the main body portion 10 a suffici'ent distance to permit of price tickets or the like, such as 17 being inserted therebeneath. The guide member '15 may be secured to the main body portion 10 in any desired manner as by rivets 18 as shown in Figures 1 to 3 or by lugs or ears 19 carried by the guide member and bent around the main body portion as shown in the modified construction illustrated in Figure 4'.
Theticket holder is provided with lugs or other suitable projecting elements 20 for the purpose ofpreventing lateral displacement of the tickets carried thereby, and means such as piercing pins or the like 21 are employed for supporting the holder in display position;
"In that form of the invention shown in Figures 5 to 7 inclusive, the device comprises a main body portion 30 of suitable rigid material, preferably metal to which is suitably secured the supporting means 21. This main body portion 30 carries a plurality of ticket holders, there being two in the present illustration designated by the reference characters 31 and 32. Each of these ticket holders is provided with oppositely disposed side flanges 33 which constitute means for retaining the tickets in position in the holders, the flanges 33 being aided in this function by the lugs 34. The holders 31 and 32 may be retained in position on the main body portion 30 by means of ears or the like such as 35 which are adapted to embrace the sideedges of the main body portion 30 as shown. These ears are preferably formed integral with their respective ticket holder, thus facilitating the assembly of the ticket holder, reducing the number of parts and presenting a smooth uninterrupted surface for placing" to use for displaying the price and identification of'various commodities.
What is claimed is:
1. A device of the character described, comprising a main body portion of elongated shape, inwardly disposed end flanges integral with the ends of said main body portion, a channel member carried by said main body portion and extending transversely thereof in spaced relation to said end flanges, oppositely disposed side flanges formed integral with saidchannel member and adapted to co-operate with their respective end flanges to retain a ticket in display position on the main body portion, and means for removably t will be apparent Furthermore, the
main body portion, and means comprising tongues integral with said channel member and adapted for bending around the side edgesof the maid body portion for securing the channel member to the main body portion.
Signed at NewYork, N. Y., this 18th day of January, 1927.
