COSMETIC PACK Filed Sept. 29. 1928 Patented Jan. 21, 1930 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE MARJORIE WEED EAN', OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
COSMETIC PACK This invention relates to cosmetic packs in which any desired number of previously pre-- pared sheets or leaves are bound together in convenient form to be carried abouton the person and from which successive sheets or leaves may be detached for separate applications of the cosmetic.
The object of my invention is to provide a cosmetic pack of improved construction which will be attractive in appearance, convenient to use and in which each of the sheets in the pack will provide an effective wrapper for one or more patches of cosmetic applied thereto.
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a cosmetic sheet of improvedform whereby a small quantity of cosmetic may be kept intact and its properties preserved for use at any time.
The particular features of my invention will be recited in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings which exemplify my invention in a preferred embodiment.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of the preferred form of a rouge pack embodying my improvements.
Figure 2 is an enlarged plan view of the same opened out.
Figure 3 is an end view of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is an enlarged transverse section of one of the detached unfolded sheets.
Figure 5 is a fragmentary plan view of the same.
According to the embodiment of my, invention shown on the drawings, a plurality of unfolded sheets 1 cut from a suitable stock of grease-proof paper are provided with laterally-spaced weakened lines 2 on opposite sides of a central primary fold-line 3 as shown best in Figures 4 and 5. The central primary fold-line 3 divides each of the sheets 1 into oppositely-presented leaves 4, said leaves being provided with secondary fold-lines 5 which are parallel to the primary fold-line 3 and preferably mid-way between the outside lateral edges of sheet 1 and the respective weakened lines 2. As indicated in Figure 4, 50 the left-hand fold line 5 adapts the outer leaf on that side to fold .downwardly and inwardly, while the right-hand fold line 5 adapts the outer leaf on that side to fold upwardly and inwardly.
As shown best in Figure 4, each of the leaves 4 is provided with an annular band 6 on the side opposite to the surfaces brought together by the folds, said annular bands being preferably symmetrically arranged with respect to the secondary fold lines 5. Applied to the limited area circumscribed by but on the side opposite to each of the annular bands 6, is a small patch 7 of cosmetic such,
for example, as rouge. I When the outer sections of leaves 4 are folded inwardly, one below and one above the plane of sheet 1 as shown in Figure 4, the limited patches of rouge or other cosmetic will be located and protected within the folded leaf-portions formed by the secondary fold lines 5, whereas the patch-locating and indicator bands 6 will be arranged across the outside surface of the folded leaf and symmetrically with respect to the secondary folding lines 5.
As shown in Figure 3, the prepared sheets i are nested and secured together along their primary fold lines 3 by means of stitching 8 or other suitable fastening means. Interposed between each of the sheets thus prepared and folded and the one next adjacent thereto, is an unfolded sheet 9 of tissue paper or other suitable material for wiping the excess cosmetic from the skin. These sheets of tissue paper may be provided with weakened lines 2 in alinement with those formed. in the folded rouge-carrying leaflets so that in the finished booklet shown in Figures 1 and 2, a small portion of tissue paper is arranged to be torn from the booklet with each folded pleaflet that contains a patch of rouge.
Due to the manner of folding the rougecarrying sheets, the inwardly-folded edges of the leaves will be presented always in the same direction.
I claim 1. A cosmetic pack comprising a plurality of sheets, each of said sheets being provided with a grease-proof surface, and a patch of cosmetic apfplied to a ,limited area of the grease-proo surface on each of said sheets.
2. A cosmetic pack comprising a plurality of separately folded grease-proof sheets to a limited area of each of which and between the portions thereof brought together by the fold has been applied a patch of cosmetic.
3. A cosmetic pack comprising a plurality of sheets connected together along a line midway between their opposite lateral edges to form oppositelypresented leaves. each of said leaves being provided with a folding line parallel to and distant from said midway line and with a patch of cosmetic encased between the portions of each leaf which are brought together by the fold therein.
4. A cosmetic pack comprising a plurality of connected leaves, each of said leaves being provided with a folding line and having a patch 'of cosmetic applied thereto between the portions of said leaf brought together by said fold.
5. A cosmetic pack comprising a plurality of grease-proof sheets to a limited area of each of which has been applied a patch of cosmetic, each of said grease-proof sheets being provided with a relatively-permanent protective band extending around the cosmetic patch.
6. A cosmetic pack comprising a plurality of grease-proof sheets provided with patches of' cosmetic applied thereto on one side and with indicator bands applied thereto on the other side, each of said grease-proof sheets being folded in such a way as to bring the cosmetic patch between adjacently disposed surfaces of the folded sheets.
7. A cosmetic pack comprising a plurality of grease-proof sheets provided with central primary folds along which they-are connected together and having patches of cosmetic applied thereto on opposite sides of said primary fold, said sheets being provided with secondary folds for closing in the applied patches of cosmetic between the leaves formed by said secondary folds.
8. A cosmetic pack comprising a plurality of grease-proof sheets, each of said greaseproof sheets being provided with a central primary fold and having patches of cosmetic applied to the opposite surfaces of the oppositely-presented leaves formed in said sheet by said primary fold, said leaves being provided with secondary folds inverse to each other for enclosing the applied patches of cosmetic between the leaves formed by said secondary folds.
9. A cosmetic pack comprising a plurality of grease-proof sheets, each of said greaseproof sheets being provided with a central primary fold and with secondary folds inverse to each other and on o posite sides of the primary fold, said sheets liaving patches of cosmetic applied thereto between the juxtaposed surfaces due to said secondary folds.
10. A cosmetic pack comprising a plurality of grease-proof sheets,- each of said sheets being provided with a central primary fold and with two secondary folds inverse to each other and on opposite sides of the primary fold, the surface of said sheet having a patch of cosmetic applied thereto within each of said secondary folds, said sheets being nested together with the corresponding folds of all the sheets in register, and a wiper sheet interposed between each pair of adjacently-disposed grease-proof sheets.
11. A sheet of material provided with a grease-proof surface, and a patch of cosmetic applied to a limited area of the grease-proof surface of said sheet, said sheet of material being folded upon itself to enclose the cosmetic patch between portions of the greaseproof surface brought together by folding the sheet.
