3 OUTLET-BOX HANGER.
Application filed October 21, 1925. Serial No. 63,874.
-This inventionrelates toa new article of manufacture, and it comprises a strap 110Il trance of conduit pipes to the knock-out openings of the outlet boxes; third, to provide a hanger bar for adjustably supporting lengthwise of the bar outlet boxes in such an operative position relative to the ceilings attaching ends to'form a portion disposed at and walls of rooms'that when the same are plastered the outer edge of the boxes will be flush with the finished plastered surface.
Briefly the invention consistsof employing a fiat metal barbent-intermediate its substantially right angles thereto, a clamping yoke being provided in connection with the outlet boxes for adjustably securing in rigid relation the boxes to the bar.
In the drawings attached hereto, and forminga part of the specification;
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a hanger bar secured between a' building studding showing an outlet box securedin place thereon..-
Fig. 2 is a side elevation 01": the above. Fig. 3 is a transverse section through the hanger bar taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is an enlarged transverse section through the hanger bar and outlet box secured thereto, taken on line H of Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is an enlarged top planet the bar and the outlet box, the clamping yoke being partially broken away to more clearly disclose the bar seating means.
In the drawings, 55 indicates ceiling joists, or studs of a buildingstructure, that are generally spaced apart sixteen inches on centers and to which the hanger bars are see cured. The hanger bar 6 preferably consists of a flat metal strap approximately five eighths of an inch wide and twenty .inches long provided with a plurality ofopenings 7 in order that the bar may be secured by nails or other suitable securingmeans to the outer faces of the joists or studding 5, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawing.
The bar 6 is provided supporting portion 8 between the ends of the angles to the supporting portion 8. other end 16 of the supporting portion is their knockout openings.

surface being disposed in the same plane as said portion. By bending the hanger bar in the above described manner it will be apparent that the bar will Iofler no obstruction to The length greater than theflportion 15, its flat the passage of the metal conduits 21 from either'side and in line with the longitudinal axis of the bar into the outlet boxes through The outlet box here shown is of usual form consisting of a top wall 10, side W311S25 arranged in octagonal formation, the said walls, being provided with the usual knockout open ings 26. Top wall 10 in addition tothe knock- .out openings 26 has a centrally disposed opening 27, in which is disposed a tubular nipple 28 exteriorly threaded on' its lower end for the reception of a hickeyconnectionfnot shown). This nipple is designed to be used in connection with outlet boxes when li 'hting fixtures are-connected thereto, and when 7 no fixtures are used in connection with said boxes the nipples may be readily. omitted. The upper end of the nipple has an external flange 29 for thepurpose of maintaining the nipple in position in the opening 27, and this flange is provided with a pair of diametrically disposed notches 30, 31, for receiving the lower edge of the" supporting portion -8 of the hanger bar when the box is secured in position.
