SOAP TRAY.
Application filed August 7,
This invention relates to soap trays and more particularly to a device of this character draining the soap which is applied thereto.
An important object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which in draining the soap, strains from the water leaving the soap any foreign particles which .may be contained therein, so that this water will not stain or mar the porcelain bowls of lavatory or kitchen utensils.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which, in draining the soap, will collect a quantity l5 of the soap which ordinarily passes of with the water and hold the same, so that it may be put to future use.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a spongious soap holder, which will retain the liquid or soft soap which ordinarily drains away, the character holder being such that as a sponge in cleansing the lavatory or wash basins and when `pressure is applied thereto will 'exude this soap, thus assisting in the cleansing operation. v
These and other objects I attain-by the construction shown in the accompanying drawings, wherein for the urpose of illustration is shown a preferred) embodiment of my invention and wherein Figure 1 is a plan view of a soap tray constructed in accordance with my linvention; Figure through; Figure 3 is a bottom plan view thereof.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 10 generally riesig- 2 is a vertical sectional view therethe body of the it may be employed ieee. ser-iai no. 127,886.
nates the body of the soap holder which consists of a mass of sponge rubber of de' sired shape, the upper surface of which is provided with a lconcavity 11 Within which the soap may be deposited. ,The holder may either consist entirely of sponge rubber or the perimeter thereof may consist of a band 12 of solid rubber. Where the band of solid rubber is employed, the lower edges of this band are preferably notched at 13 and the center of the bottom of the sponge rubber body provided with a recess 14 from which radlate'grooves 15 formed in the bottom of and communicating with the'l notches.. Through these grooveswaterpassing through the sponge rubber body may be directed to the notches of the solid perimeter and thus escape when the holder is resting upon a flat surface. The grooves preferably increase in size toward their outer ends, as indicated.
Since the constructions h ereinbefore set forth are obviously capable of a certain range of change and modification without materially departing from the spiritof the invention, I do not limit myself to such specific structures except as hereinafter claimed. v
I claim A soap tray comprising a spongious rub- -ber body having a 'concavity in its upper 70 surface for the reception of the soap and a 'solid flexible rubber' band surrounding and connected with the perimeterof the sponge rubber body. 4
In testimony whereof I hereunto `aiiix my signature. f'
