ADJUSTABLE CARRIER STRAP.

Be it known that I, ALBERT Mount, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Bedford, in the county of Bristol and State.

of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Carrier Straps, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in carrying devices and has for an object the provision of a strap or harness which will fit over the shoulders of the user for supporting a receptacle in a manner to leave both hands free, the invention. being especially adapted for paymasters, others. 1

Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character which is simplein construction, may be easily and quickly adjusted to comfortably fit the wearer and which will so place the weight of the load carried as to cause the user to maintain an erect position.

' With the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.

Referring to the drawings in detail wherein like characters of reference denote cor responding parts, the invention as shown comprises a pair of straps 10, each of which is formed into a loop 11 by crossing the strap and riveting or the crossed ends as indicated at 12. The loops 11 thus provided are designed to fit over the shoulders ofv the user, the portion of the loops which extends under the arms being rounded as at 13 to prevent chafing and rendering the device'more comfortable.

vendors and otherwise connecting Extending from the loops 11 are ends 14 and 15, the latter being relatively short, while all of these ends eairy snap hooks 16 or similar devices for removable engagement with screw eyes 17 which extend from the side edges of a tray or receptacle 18. It may be here mentioned. that other means beside screw eyes may be provided for engagement by the snap hooks. The ends lt and 15 of the straps are formed into loops 19 which maybe adjusted by means of buckles 20 to regulate the length of these ends.

The loops 11 are connected by a connecting strap 21 which is formed in two sections. The outer end of each section is provided -ith a loop 22 which slidingly receives the shoulder straps so that the position of the connecting strap 21 may beregulated. The sections of the strap 21 are adjustably connected by means of a buckle 23 so as to regulate the carrier in accordance with the size of the wearer.

The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim.

Having described the invention what is claimed is A device of the class described comprising a pair of shoulder straps, each of said straps being crossed and connected at their crossed portions to provide a loop, a clownwardly extending inner short end and a downwardly and outwardly extending relatively long end extending from the loop, means whereby the ends may be secured to a receptacle, a connecting strap, a loop at each end of the connecting strap for sliding en,- gagement with the shoulder straps and means whereby the length of the connecting strap may be regulated.
