UNITED STATES realer PATENTi OFFICE.
cAsTULo GONZALEZ, or CROWLEY,y ooLoRADo.
KnYLiiss' PADLOCK.
Application led December 8, 1922. Serial No. 605,573.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, CsTULo GONZLEZ, a citizen of the Republic of Mexico, residing` at Crowley, in the county of Crowley and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Keyless Pad locks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to padlocks, having more particular reference to a type of padlock having concealed releasing' means for the shackle, the invention having for an object the provision of a simple and inexpensive padlock of this type. i5 For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects andy advantages thereof, 'reference will be had to t-he following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the 1Y0 Various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth. f
Fig. 1 of the drawings isa face view showing` one form of my improved padlock.
Fig. 2 is a like view with the face-plate removed.
Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view taken on lthe line 3 3 of Fig. 2.
Referring first to Figs. 1 to 3 of the drawing the padlock comprises a main body 10 to which is secured a face-plate 11 by means of screws 12, these screws being concealed by bosses 13 soldered on the faceplate. The shackle is shown at 14; and is here of U-shape with parallel legs which extend through openings 15 cut in the body 10.
One of the legs of the shackle is formed with a hook 16 adapted to be engaged by a,
hook 17 formed on top of a fiat resilient strap 18 fixed at its lower end inthe body 10. The other end of the shackle is formed with an enlarged head 19 accommodated in a recess 20 in the body 10 and pressed upward by an expansion spring 21 located in said recess.
hook 17 on member 18 from the hooked end 16 of the shackle 14. rlhe member 18km`ay be reinforced by a bow-spring 26 located in the recess 22.
rIhe strap 25 has the appearance of an integral wall of the lock casing and since the pin 23 is completely concealed by the strap there is nothingwhich shows exte- 'riorly 'to reveal the manner of operating the lock.
Having thus described my invention what `I claim as new and desire to protect by Letvters Patent ofthe United States is as follows: l
In a padlock, a body, ka shackle, a resilient hooked member adapted to engage and lock one arm of the shackle, a spring in said body kengaging the other arm of the shackle to urge the latter outwardly, a pin slidable in said body and adapted to release said hooked member, and a resilient strap extending completely around the bottom and side edges of said body and covering the said pin, the outer end of said pin being located in a recess in the side of the said body covered by the said strap.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature.
. os'rULo GONZLEZ.
