Description
F. H. KRAMER. I ATTACHMENT FOR BARBERCHAIRS.
APHICATlON FILED MAY26,192I- Patente'd App 4, 1922.
INVENTOR. Fred/7f K a BY I UNITED STATES FRED H. KRAMER, 0F DENVER, COLORADO.
ATTACHMENT FOR BARBER CHAIRS.
Application filed May 26, 1921.
To all "whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, Fnno H. KRAMER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Denver, in the county of Denver, State of Colorado, have invented new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Barber Chairs, of which th following is a specification.
This invention is an attachment which may be readily mounted upon a barber chair and which forms convenient means for supporting the head rest of the chair when the latter is removed.
The invention will be readily understood from the following description of the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the attachment.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the attachment in place upon a barber chair.
Fig. 3 is a detail section through the attachment taken on the line 33 of Fig. 2.
The attachment is employed in connection with a usual barber chair including seat 1 having the back 2 and adapted to support the head rest 3 carried upon bar l.
The attachment for holding the head rest when it is removed from the back of the chair, is shown as a metallic plate 5 which at its rear end is provided with a slot 6 adapted to receive bar 1 of the head rest so as to support the latter. The opposite end 01 plate 5 carries a jaw or clamping means for detachably mounting the attachment As an instance of this arrangement the side edges of plate 5 are reversely bent as shown at '7 so as to form guideways 8 in which is slidably received a plate 10 terminating at its forward edge in a hook extension 11. The plate 10 is longitudinally adjusted through guideways 8 as by means of a bolt 12 extending upwardly from plate 5 through an elongated slot 13 in the plate 10 and having a usual thumb nut 14 threaded onto the end of said bolt for "frictionally clamping plate 10 with relation to plate 5 and in adjusted positions.
A second aw for the clamp is formed by aplate 16 which depends from plate 5 intermediate of its ends and is suitably riveted thereto as shown at 17. This plate is provided with reversely bent edges 7 forming guideways 8', and a jaw plate 10' is slidable Specification of Letters Patent.

said parts being similar to those previously described.
It will be noted that the construction as thus set forth provides an attachment having clamping jaws arranged at right angles to one another and readily adjusted, so that the attachment may be received over the edge of seat 1 with hook extensions 11-11 engaging the edges of the rim of the seat. lVhen the attachment is thus positioned at the rear of seat 1, as clearly shown in Fig. 2, it forms a convenient support for the head rest of the chair when the latter is removed, it being only necessary to place the supporting bar l; of the head rest in the slot 6.
Various changes may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is:
1. in attachment for a barbers chair comprising a base plate having a slot in its rear end adapted to receive the bar of a head rest, guideways formed upon the forward part of the plate, a second plate slidably mounted in the guideways and having a hook at its forward edge, a bolt for adjustin g the second plate in the guideways, an extension base plate rigidly secured to the first base plate across its center and extending downwardly at right angles, guideways upon the second base plate, a second sliding plate in the second. named guideways and having a hook on its lower end, and a clamping bolt for adjusting the second sliding plate relative to the second base plate, the hooks upon the sliding plates projecting toward each other and adapted to engage the rim of a barbers chair seat.
2. A bracket including a plate having supporting means at one end and forming a guideway at its opposite end, a second plate depending angularly from the first plate and forming a guideway, and cooperating jaws slidahly mounted in the respective guideways.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
FRED H. KRAMER.
