FINGER RING. APPLICAT|0I man sgmnze, m1.

MAN, a citizen of the United States UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE;
HARRISON R- GROSSMAN', OF'PHILAIDELPHIA, IENNSYL'F'ANIA.
FINGER-BIN G.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HARRISON R. Gnossresiding at Philadelphia, in the county of phia and State of Pennsylvania, have in vented certain new and useful Improvements in Finger R-ings, of which the following is a specification.
The basic object of my invention is to provide a novel form of finger-ring remc ably carrying an identifying disk,-and adapted, also, as a container for, say, a miniature photograph, medicines, anesthetics, etc.
A further object is to provide a fingerring of this character which shall be absolutely water-tight and moisture-proof, as concerns the internal chamber thereof, whereby the contents thereof may be kept intact against the injurious effects of moisture, dirt, etc.
A further object is to provide a fingerring of this character which may closely resemble an ordinary ring, the fact that it contains an internal chamber to which access may be had not being obvious to one not acquainted with the construction of the IE further object isto provide a ring of this character which shall be sightly and ornamental in appearance, and strong and durable in use.
A further object is to provide a fingerring of the construction outlined which will be simple in construction and economical to manufacture, and which may be sold at a low price. a
With these objects in view, and others appearing as the specification proceeds and the nature of the invention more fully develops, the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts of a finger-ring, as will be hereinafter fully described in the specification, summarized in the claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing, which graphically portrays my invention, like reference-characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views. The different figures or-views of the drawing may be briefly described as follows:
Figure I is a perspective view of a fingerring constructed in accordance with my invention;
Fig. II is a fragmentary top plan yiew Specification of Letters Patent.

thereof, on an enlarged scale, the screw-cap being removed;
Fig. III is a sectional view, on the line 3-3, Fig. I; and I Fig. IV is a top plan view of an identifylng disk carried within the ring.
F igs. V and VI are sectional views of two forms of the screw-cap constructed to detachably carry the identification-disk.
Referring, now, in detail to the drawing:
1 designates the body of the ring, which, as usual, is an annular band, to fit the finger of the wearer, and is provided with a head 2 having an annular, exteriorly screwthreaded flange 3 inclosing a chamber 4 having a preferably flat, imperforate bottom 5.
6 is an annular cap having a marginal, internally-threaded flange 7 adapted to engage the screw threads of the flange 3 of the ring. The exterior face of the cap may be suitably engraved, or otherwise decorated or ornamented, and the edge thereof may be knurled, as shown at 8, both to provide an ornamental appearance and to facilitate screwing the cap on the ring.
As shown in the drawing, the edge of the cap seats on the shoulder of the ring portion and this exterior surface 8 forms a substantially continuous wall with the exterior surface of the flange 3,. whereby the joint between said ring portion and the cap is rendered inconspicuous.
The advantage of a screw. cap connection is that it presents a strong and durable construction, and that the chamber 4 is watertight and moisture-proof, so that the contents of the chamber may be kept intact, against the injurious effects of moisture,
. dirt, etc.
The chamber 4 contains an identification disk 9, which may be suitably inscribed with of said socket is wider than the mouth therespring metal, and is bent up, centrally, so as to form a hollow head 9 of the shape of said socket, and adapted to spring into said socket when forcibly pushed through the mouth thereof. By this means, the identification-disk is yieldingly retained by the screw-cap.
As shown in provided, centrally, on its under surface, with a screw-threaded socket 6", into which is screwed the threaded stem 9 centrally carried by the identification-disk 9". Thus, the identification-disk is detachably carried by the screw-cap. I
Having thus fully described m invention, the many advantages thereo will be apparent, especially to those skilled in the art to which it rtains. It is'understood, of course, that c anges, especially in detail, may be made in the physical embodiment Fig. 6, the screw-cap 6" is disclosed, within the terms of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit and substance of the invention, or necessarilIyIsacrificing an of its advantages. avi thus fully described my invention, what I c aim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. A finger-ring provided with a recess, a screw cover" for the top of said recess, an identification-disk, and co-actin'g structural means carried by said cover and disk for securing said disk to said cover.
2. finger-ring provided with a recess, a cover for said recess rovided with a threaded cavity, and an ldentification-disk pro- HARRISON R. GROSSMAN.
