Description

APPLICATION FILED OCT. 4. I919. l,368,'703,

I NVEN TOR.
UNHTEED) STATES BOTTLE-CLOSURE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 15, 14321..
Application filed October 1, 1919. Serial No. 328,542.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that l, SrANIsLAUs CZERNY, citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco, State of California, have invented a new and useful Bottle-Closure, of which the following is a specification in such full and clear terms as will enable those skilled in the art to construct and use the same.
This invention relates to a faucet for drinking water bottles and its object is to provide means whereby the water may be drawn therefrom without danger of contamina-tion.
Another object of the invention is to provide a convenient and sanitary faucet for drawing the Water.
Another object of the invention is to provide a clamp for holding the bottle and faucet together when in use.
Other objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawings in which the same reference numeral is applied to the same portion throughout, but i am aware that there may be modifications thereof.
Figure l is a side elevation of the faucet and bottle as the faucet is applied thereto, and
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the clamp for holding the bottle on the faucet.
The numeral 1 indicates the bottle to which the two clamp arms 2- and 3 are secured by means of the screw 4. The two clamps are suitably padded to prevent injury to the bottle and are pivotally mounted on two operating arms 5 and 6 the heel pieces 7 and 8 of which provide means for the operation of the clamp by the screw 4.
The arms 5 and 6 are connected by the threaded rod 9 which rod passes through two brackets 10 and 11 on the bottle plug 12. The bottle plug is pulled against the bottle by the wing nut 9' and has a gasket surrounding that portion of it which extends into the bottle neck and it has a tube 14 extending up into the bottle to permit the ingress of air when the water is being drawn.
Screwed into the bottle plug 12 is a faucet 15 of any desired type having in this instance a plug valve 16, said plug carrying a cam 17.
. Pivotally mounted over the faucet is a lever 18 which is so positioned that when the plug 16 is turned, that the cam 17 will depress said lever, thereby raising its other end and lifting the rod 20. pivotally connected thereto to unseat the air valve 21 and allow air to pass into the bottle when water is being drawn. Since the air valve is closed except when the water is being drawn from the bottle there is practically no danger of contamination. 7
At the back of the stopper 12 there is a plug 22 for cleaning the plug or faucet when necessary.
What I claim is as follows, but various modifications may be made in the construction shown in the drawings and above particularly described form, within the purview of my invention:
A bottle closure comprising a plug a clamp movable with respect to the plug for i securing the plug to a bottle neck, means to draw the plug against the bottle neck, a tube carried by the plug, means at the opposite end of the tube to prevent air from passing into the bottle, a rod passing through the tube and a lever carried by the faucet and operated by the faucet for allowing air to pass through the tube into the bottle whenever liquid is to be drawn from the bottle.
In testimony whereof l have hereunto set my hand this 25 day of Sept, A. D. 1919.
