APPLICAHON FILED MAY 5.1916.

UEI) STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN A. STONEHAM, OF ABILENE, TEXAS.
DISPLAY-RACK.
Application filed May 5, 1916.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, JOHN A. STONEHAM, a citizen of the United States, residing at- Abilene, in the county of Taylor and State of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Display-Racks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in display racks and has particular application to a display rack for bananas or similar fruits.
In carrying out the present invention, it is my purpose to provide a display rack whereby a stalk of bananas may be displayed, and which may be readily moved from place to place.
It is also my purpose to provide a display rack of the class described which will embrace the desired features of simplicity, efficiency and durability and which will embody comparatively few parts and these so arranged and correlated as to reduce the possibility of derangement to a minimum.
lVith the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter set forth and falling within the scope of the claim.
In the accompanying drawing;
Figure l is a perspective view of a display rack constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view through the same.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, 1 indicates crossed bars intersecting each other at right angles and forming a base or platform. Formed in the lower edge of one of the bars 1 adjacent to the outer ends thereof are recesses 2 and secured to the lower edge of such bar contiguous to the recesses are bearings 3 in which 'are rotatably mounted Specification of Letters Patent.

Serial No. 95,639.
rollers 4: working in the recesses. The lower edge of the other cross bar 1 is formed with a longitudinal groove 5 and seated in the groove 5 and suitably fastened therein is a metal strip 6 having one end bent upwardly along the end edge of such cross bar and formed integral with the lower end of a vertical tube 7 thereby enabling the tube 7 and strip 6 to be formed from a single piece of metal. Mounted in the vertical tube 7 and capable of sliding movement therein is a vertical rod 8 having the upper end curved upon itself as at 9 and terminating in a hook 10 arranged in line with the center of the base formed by the crossed bars. The rod 8 is capable of vertical adjustment in the tube 7 and threaded through the tube is a set screw 11 adapted to bind against the rod to hold the latter in adjusted position.
In practice, the hook end of the rod 8 is adjusted to the desired elevation and the stalk of bananas suspended from said hook in display position. By means of the rollers 4 on the lower edge of one of the cross bars, the rack may be readily moved from place to place.
I claim:
A display rack comprising a base formed of crossed bars, the lower edge of one of said bars being formed with recesses, bearings secured to the lower edge of said bar contiguous to said recesses, rollers mounted in said bearings and working in said recesses, the lower edge of the other cross bar being formed with a groove, 2. flat strip secured in said groove and having one end upturned along one end edge of said cross bar, and a supporting member integral with said upturned end.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
JOHN A. STONEHAM.
