SUPPORT FOR CONTAINERS OF MILK AND CREAM.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 2%, 1915.
Application filed May 1, 1915. Serial No. 25,278.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, DANIEL E. MOORE and EMORY V. Moons, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Baldwyn, in the county of Prentiss and State of Mississippi, have invented new and useful Improvements in Supports for Containers of Milk and Cream, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain novel and useful improvements in holders for cans containing cream and the like.
In carrying out the present invention, 1t is our purpose to provide a holder of the class described whereby the cans or other receptacles containing the cream or milk may be supported before a fireplace in such manner that the cans may be easily and conveniently turned so that all portions of the side walls of the can will be subjected to the action of the heat, thereby enabling the contents of the can to be heated evenly and uniformly to facilitate churning of the cream.
It is also our purpose to provide a device of the type set forth whereby the portion of the side wall remote from the fire will be inclosed so as to minimize the escape of heat therefrom and prevent chilling of the contents incident to the cold air contacting with the can.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter set forth in and falling within the scope of the claims.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective View of a support constructed in accordance with the present invention. Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view therethrough. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional View through the same.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, 1 designates a base plate preferably circular in outline and mounted upon casters 2 depending from the base plate adjacent to the peripheral edge thereof. Upstanding from the base 1 centrally thereof is a pivot post 3 and mounted upon the upper end of the pivot post 3 concentrically thereof is a supporting plate 4 preferably circular in outline and disposed concentrically of the post 3. Depending from the under surface of the supporting plate l at the peripheral edge of such plate and spaced apart equal distances are casters 5 bearing upon the upper surface of the base plate 1.
Secured to the peripheral edge of the base plate 1 and uprising therefrom is a shield 6 semicircular in cross section and disposed concentrically of the supporting plate 4. In the present instance, the supporting plate 4 is of less diameter than the base plate 1 and is freely rotatable about the pivot post 3, the casters 5 acting to support the plate 4 at the peripheral edge thereof.
In the use of the holder or support the can of cream is placed upon the supporting plate 4: and a portion of the circumference of the can is inclosed by the shield 6. The holder and can thereon are now moved into proximity to a fire, the device being movable from place to place upon the casters 2. The open side of the shield is presented to the fire and the heat is imparted from the metal of the can to the contents thereof. In order to insure the even and uniform heating of the contents of the can the latter is rotated from time to time to present a new surface to the fire and the shield 6 inclosing the previously heated surface of the can prevents chilling of such surface and the rapid loss of heat therefrom.
We claim:
1. A device of the class described comprising a base plate, casters supporting said base plate, a turn table mounted upon said base plate, and a shield secured to the marginal edge of said base plate and upstanding therefrom and disposed concentrically of said turn table.
2. A device of the class described comprising a base plate, a turn table rotatably mounted upon said base plate and adapted to support a can, and a shield secured to the marginal edge of said base plate and uprising therefrom.
In testimony whereof we afiiX our signa tures in presence of two witnesses.
DANIEL E. MOORE. EMORY v. MOORE.
