I COMBINED VANITY AND MESH-BAG.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 22, 1914.
cases and mesh bags, and the (primary ob'ect of the invention is to provi e a mesh ag which has incorporated in the head or top portion'thereof a vanity case, which latter,
more particularly, is formed in two sections or parts, one section or part being on one side of the head of the bag, while the other section or part is on the other side of the head of the bag. v r
Further, the invention aims to provide a vanity case which is incorporated in the head of a bag so as to be normally concealed,
and still capable of being readily opened to enable access thereto.
In the drawing :The figure is a pers tive view of the invention, showing a o the parts in open osition. V a
The hand ha s formed with .the usual mesh fabric b hinge parts or sections 2 and 3, which parts are held in closed position by any suitable latching or locking device 4. Each part or section of the head of the bag-is formed with a depression, 5, and a lateral recessedportion '6 which extends through oneend of the depression 5 and through the adjacent head or section, a plate or closure 7 being hinged at the opposite end of the de ression 5 so as to lie flush with the inner aces of thesections or parts when the closure is in operative position. Each closure 7 has an arm 9 which is conformably received in therecessed portion 6, the outer ends of the arms 9, being provided with hooks 10 which are adapted to snap over the adjacent ends of the sections or parts. it willbe apparent'that when the closures "are in closed position, same will lie flush with the inner faces of the sections or parts and thus conceal the depressions 5 and recessed .portions- 6, imparting to the inner faces of the parts or sections a substantially smooth appearance. The recessed portion '5 ofthe :head or section 2 is provided with a to certain new and: useful improvements 1n combined vanity y 1, and ahead formed of.
From the above mirror 11 and also a looped part 12 which is adapted to receive and retain a pencil'13. The depression 5 may be made sufiiciently deep so as to allow of a memorandum pad being placed therein in overlying relation to the mirror and pencil, so that the pad may be retained in the depression by the closure The depression 5 of the part or section?) is provided with a powder puff receptacle 14 and other smaller depressions or wells 15 in which cosmetics may be placed, The depression 5 may also be provided with provide a coin holder. It will be understoodthat the character of the articles which it may be desired to place in the depressions 5 mayvary, and accordingly variation in the characters of. the holders which retain the articles is thereby necessitated in order to provide the requ red conformity.
From the above it will be 'seen that in accordance'with this invention the various arcorporated'in the head portion of a bag and presents substantially the same appearance possessed by the well known and commonly used mesh fabric bags. Of course it will be understood that the head portion of the bag ma be made large or small in accordance wit the total number of vanity articles which it is desired to have the bag holdor contain.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. In a hand bag, ahead portion having a pair of parts and having a depression in one of its parts, and also having a lateral recessed portion which communicates with one end of the depression and extends through the adjacent end of vsaid head portion part, a closure for the depression hinged adjacent to the other end of the latter, and an arm having a snap-hook on its haveits snap hook engaged with the adja cent. end ofthe head portion part, said closure and arm thereof then extendingsubstantially, flush with the inner face of the head portion part.
2. In a hand bag, a head portion having afpair ofparts and having each of its parts a circular recessedpart or depression 16 to ticles which constitute a vanity case are in-- free end carried by the closure and adapted to be received in the recessed portion and to normally concealed therein, so that the bag V provided with a depression and 'a closure for each depression hinged to the respective head part and having a snap hook to engage over the adjacent end of the head part.
3. In a hand bag, a head portion formed of two similar parts, one of said parts having a depression, and an openable closure for said'depression, said closure extending flush with the inner face of the head part which carries same to thereby allow the inner face of the other head part to contact with the inner face of the first named head part and to completely conceal the closure.
4. In a hand bag, a head portion formed of two parts, one of said parts havin a depression a hinged closure for said epression, and a snap hook carried by the closure name to this specification in the presence of.
