This invention and useful baiidae'es-adapted'"to be employed in treating` and dressin; broken limbs and bones, or fractures of the saine. and other bodily injuries.

ln carrying out my invention, it is my purpose to provide a surgical bandage whieh is provided with casingsor pockets adapted to eont-ain a suitable medicament, such as hops or other suitable. substance, the bandage heine' so eonstrueted and arranged that it may he tilted over the injury and fastened in posit-ion in such manner as to tit etnni'ortably, and to alleviate the intense. pain. due to contracting nerves, a 4condition ivhieh `frequently causes deliriumA and `deformities.

A further ehirrt of in v invention is to provide a simple torni ot bandage in which the splintsl and medicament containingv casings will be so arranged that the bandage may he placed upon the injured liinb in such manner as to eonipletelv eover the saine. l `intherniore. my improved bandage may he uianu't'zutured and marketed at a relatively low cost.

Referring: now to the accompanying; drawings in detail, the numeral 5 designates the outer facing` of the body portion of 'the bandage which in the present instance is shaped Jfor a hip bandage, said facing being made of strong antiseptic cloth and is provided at its lower end With an extension 6 of the same material designed to be, used in Wrapping the foot, as above mentioned. To the outer face of the portion 5, I stitch a suitable number of splints l7, which extend vertically of such space and are suitably spaced apart and terminate at their ends 8 about three-quarters ot an inch from the top vand bottom edges 9 and 10. respectively, of the mainbody portion. The back or lining of the bandage which is cut in shape to conform to the 'ront or facing is preferably formed of a soft antiseptic cloth sowed in alternate lines between the stitohing of the splints, said lining being indicated by the numeral 1l While the lines of stitching are shown at l2 and the plaiting at 1B. rihe lining previous to attaching the. same to the facing is folded or plaited in such manne' as to let the edges ot` the plaits meet after the pockets formed by the. same have been stuiiied or iilled with a suitablel medicament 14 such as clean ripe hops con' taining; a large percentage of pollen. r`The object ot' employing` hops is to allayv the severe pain, as hops being' a tonie and febri fune has the desired et'feet.4 "he edges of the lining` preferably extend over the edges of the facing as shoivn at 13 to form a binding for the bandage.

lt will be noted that l have provided an 'exceedingly simple forni of bandage which will be found especially effective in the treatment ot' severe frac-tures and other injuries to the bones of the body. ln the present instance l have' shown my bandage in the form or" a casing for dressing a leg, but it will be understood that the invention may be made up in other forms, such as a bandage for broken ribs and other purposes.
