To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GRACE O. FURROW, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hood River, n the county of Hood River and State of Oregon, have invented a new and useful Adjustable Music'Desk for Pianofortes, of which the following is a specification.

My invention is an attachment for the pianoforte, and adjustable music desk, for

.the use of children who study the pianoforte, and for teachers who teach pianoforte to children, and the objects of my invention are first, to allow a childs music to be placed in a position that will accommodate his eyes, thus preventing them from strain and other injury; second, to allow a childs music to be placed .properly before him, which'will admit to him opportunity for proper advancement in his study of music. I attain these objects by use of proper materials for the desk and mecha nism illustrated in the accompanying draw The adjustable music desk is to be manufactured oicelluloid colored to represent mahogany, walnut, oak, ebony, rosewood, teak. (lircassian walnut, burl walnut, mission finish or other woods or finishes or representatives of same. Transparent celluloid may be use-l, also wood, metal, or any innaiterlal or combination of material desira e.

The desk is composed of three panels A, B, and M of which the lower portions form the music holder. The groove 1: of center panel admits tongues 0, c of side-panels and the dovetailed groove n in the upper portion of panel M admits correspondingly shaped ribs on upper portions of the panels A and B. By' means of this construction the desk is adjustable in width. This adjustment may be omitted for pianoforte with full duet swinging music desk.

The side panels are provided with a series of key hole openings d d for reception of lugs e e on the adjuster by means of which the' desk is adjustable in height. juster is provided with a flat portion carrymg the lugs e e and a semi elliptical portion for contact with the desk. The latter is pro vided with a series of marginal openings 0 for rece tion of a lug on the supporting bracket z. By means of these openings the desk may be adjusted angularly.

Fig. 3 shows supporting bracket used with grand pianoforte desk. Bracket i may vary in width to fit different makes of pianoforte. s attaches the desk to back of pianoforte desk.
