LIGHT ATTACHMENT To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, DANIEL WILLIAMS, a citizen of the- United States, residing at Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Li ht Attachments for Music-Stands, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to sheet music supports and has for an object to provide a light attachment for the said support to illuminate the music adapted to be normally held on the support,

Among other features, my invention embodies a sleeve for attachment to an upright of a music stand, an arm turnably mounted upon the said sleeve, a second sleeve adjustably mounted on the said arm and a second arm slidable in the said second sleeve with means on the outer end of the said second arm for attaching a light thereto, the outer end of the said second arm being also provided with a reflector for refleeting the light on to the music disposed on the stand.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings constituting a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference denote corresponding parts in all the views, and in which- Figurel is a perspective view of a music stand showing my device applied thereto with an electric light globe attached to the device and provided with electrical connections to' suitable batteries disposed adjacent the base of the music stand. Fig. 2 is a front elevation of my device with an electric light for attachment to one end of my device, the electric light globe being shown in dotted lines. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of one of the sleeves with an arm fitted in the said sleeve, parts .being broken away to disclose the underlying structure. Fig. 4 is a plan view of my invention. Fig. 5 is a seetional view on. the line 55 in Fig. 2, and Fig. 6 is a modified form of my device showing a View similar to Fig. 3 with an attaching hook mounted on the said arm.

The arm 16 is mounted to fit into the opening 11 of the sleeve 10 and is provided with a pin 17 adapted to en age the rin 12 so that the said arm can e turned relatively to the sleeve 10. The upper end of the arm 16 is preferably flattened and has a series of corrugations 18 formed thereon and a sleeve 19 having a flattened portion 20 provided with corrugations 21, is adapted to engage the flattened portion of the arm 16 and be adjustably secured thereto by a set screw 22, so that the said sleeve 19 can be moved relatively to the arm 16. The outer end of the sleeve 19 is adapted to turnably receive the end of an arm 23, the outer end of the said arm terminating in a fork 24 having pivotally mounted thereon an end of a clamp 25, the other end of the said clamp being adapted to releasably engage the fork 24. Secured to the clamp 25 and depending therefrom is a reflector 26, the said reflector being preferably made adjustable relatively to the clamp 25 as shown in Fi 2. %n the application of my device to a music stand 27 the slotted member 15 and the extension 14 of thesleeve 10 are adapted to enga e the center bar 28 of the music stand 27 t e up er end of the bar 28 being reeeived in t e opening 13 of the sleeve 10 as shown in Fig. 1. As mentioned heretofore, the arm 16 is turnably mounted on the sleeve 10 and the sleeve 19 can be adjusted relatively to the arm 16 by means of the set screw 22, as will be readily understood. An electric li ht globe 29 is adapted to be secured to t e arm 23 by means of the clamp 25 encircling a portion of the globe 29 and connected to the fork 24 of the arm 23, the electric light globe 29 being provided with wires 30 for connection with an electric battery 31 disposed adjacent the base of the music stand 27.

In the modified form of my device I employ a sleeve 35, similar in many respects to the sleeve 10, the said sleeve 35 being rovidcd with a clampin book 36 mounte to extend transversely tirough the sleeve 35 and provided with a sleeve 37 so that the sleeve can be secured to the music stand 27 by attaching the sleeve 35 to the stand in the manner heretofore described and then clamping an upper bar of the stand 27 to the sleeve 35 by means of the clamping hook 36.

From the foregoing description it will be readily seen that my device is adjustable to various positions so that the electric light globe 29 can be positioned at almost any angle relatively to the sheet music disposed on the stand 27 and although for the urpose of describing my invention I lave shown In device equipped with an electric light glo e, it will be understood that any ot er convenient illuminating means can be employed and that the scope of the invention is defined in the appended claims.

Having thus fully described the invention, what I claim as new, is

1. A light attachment for stands comprising a sleeve for attachment to the stand, an arm turnably mounted in said sleeve a second sleeve adjustably mounted on the said arm, a second arm turnabl mounted on the said second sleeve, a fork lntegrally formed on the outer end of the said second arm, a clamp mounted on the said fork and adapted to clamp a li ht to the said second arm and a reflector a justably mounted on the said clamp.

2. In a light attachment for stands, a tubular sleeve, a bar integrally formed on the said sleeve and depending therefrom for engagement with the said stand, a springcontrolled clamping hook mounted on the said sleeve and ada ted to engage the said stand, an arm turna ly mounted on the said sleeve, a second sleeve adjustabl mounted on the said arm, means for ad usting the said second sleeve relatively to the said arm, a second arm turnably mounted on the said second sleeve, a clamp mounted on the outer end of the said second arm andadapted to clam a light thereto and a reflector ad justa 1y mounted on the said clamp for reflecting the light on to music disposed on said stand.
