Abstract

B. WEB.DE) an.

Figure imgaf001
It proposes a method and means for generating, transmitting and displaying specially designed banners with a Flash Film File (SWF) divided into two sections (DYN, STA). The static part (STA) comprises the actual flash film (commercial), which is for example 30 kB in size. The dynamic part (DYN) is upstream and preferably consists only of simply structured image data, in particular of vector graphics, which have a low data quantity of, for example, 1.5 kB. The vector graphic already contains content that relates to the content of the subsequent movie. For example, if the commercial is about a new offering for a DSL service that is of interest to Internet consumers with a slow modem connection, the upstream vector graphic will display the name of the service provider (eg, WEB.DE). The user immediately receives an advertising message and does not have to wait for the flash movie to load sufficiently. Also, the user does not have to accept the display of a conventional preloader. The ad reaches users immediately and immediately, regardless of how good the data transfer rate actually is. Preferably, the display of the upstream advertising image (D) is set to a minimum period of time (Tmin), so that the upstream advertising image is displayed long enough, even if the data transmission should be very fast and the actual flash film (S1 ... Sn) accordingly can be loaded quickly.
