Zu diesem Zweck wird vor oder während der erstmaligen Inbetriebnahme des Beleuchtungssystems eine Initialisierung des Systems, das heißt, ein Verfahren zur Identifizierung der einzelnen elektrischen Betriebsmittel durch die entsprechenden Steuerungseinrichtungen durchgeführt. Die dem zu adressierenden Betriebsmittel zugeordneten Lampen müssen dafür nicht unbedingt in Betrieb genommen werden. Vorteilhafterweise wird der elektrische Kontakt zwischen dem Betriebsmittel und der Lampe durch ein kurzzeitiges Lösen der elektrischen Verbindung zwischen Lampenfassung und Lampensockel herbeigeführt.
