Abstract

A modular pocket dispenser, for medications, has a main module with the electronic memory for the required dispensing data for each compartment with a data display and an alarm warning system. At least one additional compartment (5) can be fitted, with a locking mechanism (501,502) and attachment (503,504), as a reserve of a particular medication, in a release mounting at the main module. The compartment locking mechanism has a lock (501) and an attachment (503) at the main compartment working with an attachment (504) and lock (502) at the additional compartment. Each compartment has a trip (516) for the dispenser in a unit which is variable according to the shape of the gelatin capsules containing the medications.

Description

The present invention relates to a modular dispensing device of pocket-type drugs and capsules of different types sizes.

It is known from European patent application 0 554 137 A1 a pocket-sized drug dispenser in the form of capsules or pills comprising a dispenser box and a removable charger, the loader comprising several transverse compartments suitable for storing a drug and forming a continuous longitudinal chain. This device comprises optical detection means arranged close to the exit orifice detecting the passage of the medicament when it leaves.

The disadvantage of such a device lies in the fact that the drugs should be placed in the order of their intake, and when there is several different intakes of different drugs their storage becomes complicated, the solution consisting in taking a device by type of drug is expensive and cumbersome. Figures 4a and 2a show a perspective view of a housing (510) constituting the compartments (5) according to the invention. This case (510), of parallelepiped shape, is open on two adjacent faces. The three side faces of the housing (510), called respectively face lateral contact (7), front face (8) and lateral back face (9) form a U-shaped section chute. These lateral faces delimit a tank (512). This housing has on one of its ends forming the base, a lower face (11) provided with an outlet orifice (14) for medication. A compartment (5) can be equipped either to contain or tablets or capsules.

A of the Figure 2a, the housing (510) compartment (5) according to the invention. At the base of reservoir (512) of the inclined faces (18) and (19) form a V-shaped constriction towards the lower face (11) of the reservoir (512). In this way, the form the neck cooperates with the holding pallet (513) to facilitate admission capsules in a cylindrical well (115) in which the distribution means (515) (Figure 2b).

This cover (511) has two adjacent faces (111) and (12) forming an L. The shorter (12) of the two faces, will then constitute the upper face of the compartment (5).

Un bouton actionneur (516a) est également représenté sur cette même face latérale (8), à proximité de la face inférieure (11) du compartiment (5).Figure 4a shows an exploded schematic view of the structure a compartment (5) according to the invention. Each compartment (5) is formed assembly of the housing (510), the hood (511) and a shutter shutter removable (15) substantially rectangular. The shortest side (12) of the hood covers the upper part of the housing (510) thus forming the upper face of the compartment (5). This upper face of the compartment (5) will be designated in the following by the reference (12). The other side (111) of hood is superimposed on the back side face (9) of the housing (510) forming one and the same side designated in the following side back side (9). Finally, the flap (15) closes the remaining lateral opening of the housing, then forming a side face (10) of contact between two compartments adjacent (5). This removable flap (15) provides access to the tank, especially to introduce drugs. This assembly could be produced by clipping the different parts, for example by means of lugs cooperating with complementary holes. The inclined faces (18) and (19) which form a V-shaped throttle open down the housing on a cylindrical well (115). The housing also has, on the side front (8) which is parallel to the back side face (9), a label holder (900) forming a storage pocket for an information label on the drugs present in the reservoir (512). An actuator button (516a) is also shown on this same side face (8), with near the underside (11) of the compartment (5).

Ces moyens de visualisation de données supplémentaires (3) sont disposés sur sa face supérieure (12).A compartment (5) of the tablet pill dispenser according to the invention will now be described with reference to Figures 4b, 4c, 6, 7 and 8. Figure 4b shows a perspective view of a removable compartment (5) of the pill box according to the invention intended to contain tablets which therefore contains a selector (514). When the compartment is intended to contain capsules, it will be identical to that described below, except for the selector (514) which will not be placed in the V-shaped throttling zone of the tank (512) (Figure 2b). The body of the compartment (5) delimits a reservoir (512) in the bottom of which is disposed in abutment above the inclined faces (18, 19) a selector (514) (Figures 5a, 5b). The selector (514) has two inclined V-shaped faces (514a, 514b), guiding the tablets towards a gutter central parallelepiped (514c) of the selector (Figure 4c). Two wedges (614a, 614b) substantially rectangular and thin are arranged vertically in the gutter (514c). These shims (614a, 614b) are provided over part of their length and at their base, near the bottom gutter (514c), notches (1614). These notches (1614) are intended to cooperate with lateral cylindrical legs (1515) formed on either side on the sides of a selector cursor (1514) arranged between the shims (614a, 614b). The upper edges and facing these wedges further include a chamfer (1615) (Figure 4c). These chamfers (1615) create a funnel-shaped passage to the bottom of the tank (512) between these same shims (614a, 614b), facilitating the admission of tablets. This substantially parallelepipedal selector cursor (1514) is mounted movable in translation between the shims (614a, 614b) in this gutter (514c), in a direction parallel to the edge common to the face adjacent lateral back (9) and the underside (11) of the compartment (5). The upper face (1514a) of the selector cursor (1514) is inclined towards bottom in direction X (Figure 5b) which is parallel to the direction of translation of the cursor (1514). This face (1514a) guides the tablet in the direction of a passage delimited by the front of the selector cursor (1514), by the inner faces of the shims (614a, 614b) and by the lateral face (7) of contact of the housing. The size of this passage is adjustable by position the selector cursor (1514) within the shims (614a, 614b). Means distribution (515) consisting of a cylindrical gable lock (600) (figure 6) are placed at the outlet of the selector (514), that is to say downstream, under the selector (514). The pinion cylinder axis (600) is mounted parallel to the direction of movement of the cursor (1514). The faces lateral (603, 604) of the lock (600) are provided, each in their center, a pinion (605). This lock (600) is actuated in rotation around its axis by at least one rack (717) (Figure 4c) cooperating with a pinion (605) of the lock (600). A substantially cylindrical channel (601), not opening on the lateral faces (603, 604), is hollowed out in the lock (600). This channel (601) comprises, substantially in the middle, a blind hole (602) capable of cooperating by clipping with a button (701) formed on each caliber (700) which is of complementary shape to that of the channel (601). The caliber (700) fits into the channel (601). Each caliber (700), which has a cavity on its upper part (703), is installed in the lock to receive in its cavity (703) a size tablets corresponding to the desired dimensions and shapes. The selector slider (1514) is set according to the type of caliber (700) mounted on the lock (600). In the case of a caliber (700) having a cavity (703) on one side of its length only, the cursor (1514) is fixed in a position such that it guides the tablet to the side of the cavity (703) of the caliber (700). The tablet guided by the selector (514) enters the cavity (703) of caliber (700) clipped into the lock (600). The caliber (700) is adapted to the size of the tablet so that it is slightly protrusion from the cylinder formed by the lock (600) (FIG. 7). The means of distribution (515) cooperate with actuation means (516) which are consisting of an actuator button (516a) in the form of a base prism triangular. This button (516a) is placed at the level of the means of distribution (515). One of the faces of the button (516a) opens, at rest, on the front side face (8) of the compartment (5). The actuator button (516a) is likely to pivot around its sharpest edge (1516) which is parallel to the direction of the axis of the cylindrical pinion lock (600). By pivoting towards the inside of the compartment, it actuates two racks (717) (Figure 4c) respectively housed in two wells (1517) (Figure 4b) formed at both ends of the button housing (516a). Both racks actuated in translation cooperate with the pinions (605) of the lock (600) to cause the rotation of the latter. Medication, which is housed in the lock and protrudes slightly on the periphery of this last, turns with it and by the way closes an electrical contact (517) by pushing a blade (1517) (Figure 4c, Figure 7). The rotation of the drug continues until it comes in front of the orifice outlet (14) (Figures 2a and 4a) from the underside (11), then falls by gravity outside the compartment (5) where it is collected by the patient who pressed on the actuator button (516a). A return spring (530) in the form of dihedral is supported by one of its two faces (531) on the internal face of the button (516a), its second face (532) being engaged in a fixed slot in the compartment (5) (Figure 4c). This return spring (530) returns the button (516a) in its rest position when it is no longer actuated, and therefore also by reverse movement of the racks, the pinion lock (600). This two rack system has the advantage of minimizing the risk of accidental blockage of the distribution (515) and actuation means (516). This compartment (5) is mechanically and so connected removable from the main module (2) thanks to locking means (501, 502) cooperating detachably with the attachment means (503, 504). Each removable compartment therefore includes locking means (501, 502) as well as attachment means (503, 504). First means locking (501) are constituted by a tongue (501) having the form a U. The legs (1501) of the U are fixed between the face (12) of the cover, or upper face (12) and the compartment (5) in a housing (121, 122) (figure 3). The base of the U (1511), thicker than the legs (1501), and elliptical shape, clips into a light (504) formed in the face upper (12) of the adjacent compartment (5) by entering through a opening (1504). The opening (1504) is formed between the upper face (12) of the cover and the body of the adjacent compartment (5). The opening (1504) is perpendicular to the light (504) formed in the cover (12) of the compartment (5). The light (504) has a shape complementary to that of the elliptical base (1511) of the tongue (501). This light (504) constitutes the attachment means for the tongue (501). The light (504) is spared in the upper face (12) of the compartment (5) and is parallel to the edge common to the respectively upper (12) and lateral (10) faces of contact including the shutter (15). The opening (1504), perpendicular to the light (504), through which the tongue (501) penetrates, is located on the upper end of the side face (10) which includes the shutter (15). This side face (10) which comprises the shutter (15) constitutes a contact face between two compartments (5). In this way, when two compartments are connected, the flap (15) is not visible or accessible. This makes impossible the accidental opening of the pill box, and therefore the opening of the drug reservoir. In addition, a disassembly of the pill organizer is detected by electrical contacts which open during disassembly, by example, by opening a continuity loop. Second means of lock (502) consist of claws (502) located on the edge common to the faces, lateral (10) comprising the shutter (15), and lower (11), at the base of the compartment (5). These claws (502) cling in the locking means (503) consisting of complementary holes. These complementary holes (503) are located at the base of the compartment (5), on the edge common to the faces, lateral (7) which is opposite parallel to the face (10) comprising the shutter (15), and lower (11). This ridge is located opposite to that carrying the claws (502). These holes (503) are provided with rods (not shown) placed in holes (13) (figure 4c). The hooks (502) bear on these rods. The assembly of two compartments (5) is made by hooking the claws (502) of the compartment (5) additional to the hanging rods in the holes (503) of the previous compartment (5), then tilting of the compartment (5) additional until the compartment tab (501) is clipped previous in the light (504) of this additional compartment (5). Of in this way, the side face (10) comprising the shutter (15) of the additional compartment is placed against the side face (7) of the previous compartment. Each compartment (5) also includes its electronic means (505) located inside the cover (511) (Figure 3), as well as male (520) and female (521) connection pins. These two pins are located respectively on its two side faces of opposite contacts (7, 10), comprising respectively the tongue (501) and the shutter (15). When assembling the connection of the means electronics (505) is realized in the following way: the male pin (520) of the previous compartment connects with the female pin (521) of the additional compartment. The compartment (5) also includes a access hatch (800) to the lock (600), closed by a lock cover cap (801) fixed for example, by four pins (803). The hatch (800) allows to change the type of caliber (700) to adapt to the size of the tablets introduced into the reservoir (512) of the compartment (5). A abacus can be produced to define the types of calibers (700) and selectors settings (514) to use for different types of medication. Detection means (517) for the passage of the tablet (Figure 7), consisting of a micro-contact device are positioned at proximity to the peripheral surface of the lock (600), in the well cylindrical (115), on the side of the back side face (9) of the compartment (5). These detection means are actuated by the projection (1511) of the tablet (20b) out of the lock during its rotation. This projection pushes a blade (1517) (Figure 4c) which then establishes contact in an electrical circuit. The compartment (5) also comprises means (518) for detecting the pressure on the actuating means (Figure 8). These means are constituted by a micro-contact device actuated by a finger (1518) integral with the button (516a). Thus, the electronic means (505) can record, on the one hand the pressure on the actuating means (516) and on the other hand the passage of a tablet in the distribution means (515). The compartment (5) also includes holding means (513) drugs to the reservoir base (512). These means (513) consist of a pallet for maintaining the shape of a plate, for example, rectangular attached to a slider (not shown) sliding in a vertical channel (1513) located substantially in the middle of the back side face (9) of the compartment (5). Elastic means (not shown) push the pallet towards the selection means (514) and distribution (515) of the base of the reservoir (512) of the compartment (5). In this way, the pallet (513) presses on the pile of medicines contained into the reservoir (512) and facilitates their admission into the means of distribution (515) placed at the bottom of this tank. In addition, it is possible monitor the level of medication in the compartment by observing the position of the cursor on its channel (1513). The main module (2) having the dimensions of two compartments, as well as each additional compartment (5), have a slot (540) located on the lateral face (10) of contact which comprises the flap (15). This slot (540) is located nearby and parallel to the back side face (9). Slot (540) is suitable for receiving a data carrier (4) (Figure 1) such as a card chip the size of a standard credit card for example. This is introduced about two-thirds into the main module (2) (Figure 1), then its projecting part is inserted into the slot (540) of the lateral face (10) comprising the flap (15) of the first additional compartment (5) which is connected to the main module (2). Therefore, the data carrier (4) is completely enclosed in the dispensing device medication (1), straddling the first three compartments (2a, 2b, 5). The data carrier (4) can then cooperate with the means electronics (505) present in the compartment (5) (FIG. 3) as well than with the electronic means (not shown) of the main module (2). Each compartment (5) also includes warning means (6) consisting for example of a light-emitting diode (1006) connected to the electronic means (505). This is housed in a diode holder tube (1016) opening onto the lateral face (8) at the front, parallel to the face lateral back (9) of the compartment (5). This diode (1006), under the control of the electronic means of the main module, emits a signal luminous, for example flashing, to indicate to the patient the compartment (5) taking medication. Warning means include also an audible warning device of known type (not shown). This buzzer can for example be triggered by means electronic (505) to warn the patient of taking medication. Then, the compartment concerned will be indicated by the light signal from the diode (1006) as previously described. The main module (2) (figure 1) for its part, in addition to the warning means (6), means for data display (3) consisting for example of a display screen with liquid crystals. These means of viewing additional data (3) are arranged on its upper face (12).

Other modifications within the reach of those skilled in the art make also part of the spirit of the invention.
