On est donc conduit à partir du tube à fentes larges et à pratiquer une opération d'écrasage au tour jusqu'à obtention des valeurs de largeur de fentes souhaitées. L'invention a ainsi pour objet un procédé pour la fabrication d'une tulipe de contacts à partir d'une ébauche constituée par un tube en matériau à bonnes propriétés conductrices et à bonne élasticité comprenant une portion amincie munie de fentes parallèles longitudinales et terminée par une couronne en matériau ayant une bonne conductibilité électrique et une bonne résistance aux effets de l'arc électrique, caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend les opérations suivantes:

  • on place ladite ébauche autour d'un noyau cylindrique ayant un diamètre sensiblement égal au diamètre de l'ébauche et une longueur égale à celle de l'ébauche, le sommet du noyau butant sur la couronne,
  • on dispose autour de l'ébauche et au droit des fentes un bloc de section annulaire ayant un diamètre intérieur voisin un peu supérieur au diamètre extérieur de l'ébauche et une hauteur sensiblement égale à celle des fentes, le bloc étant réalisé en un matériau élastomère,
  • on exerce sur les surfaces d'extrémités dudit bloc une pression tendant à réduire le diamètre intérieur dudit bloc jusqu'à obtention de la largeur de fente désirée.

Claims (4)

  1. A method of manufacturing a thimble of contact fingers from a blank constituted by a tube of material having good conductive properties and good elasticity, the tube including a thin-walled portion provided with longitudinal parallel slots and terminated by a ring of material having good electrical conductivity and that is good at withstanding the effects of electrical arcing, the method being characterized in that it comprises the following operations:
       the said blank (1) is placed around a cylindrical core (10) of diameter substantially equal to the diameter of the blank and of length equal to the length of the blank, the end of the core coming into abutment against the ring;
       an annular section block (5) is disposed around the blank over the slots, the inside diameter of the block being close to and slightly greater than the outside diameter of the blank and the axial length of the block being substantially equal to the axial length of the slots, the block being made of an elastomer material; and
       pressure is exerted on the end surfaces of said block, thereby tending to reduce the inside diameter of said block until the desired slot width is obtained.
  2. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that it is performed by means of a press comprising a fixed sheath (4) provided with a cylindrical recess for receiving the elastomer block (5) and a bore for receiving a centering part (6) for centering the blank (1), and a moving top block (8) to which said cylindrical core (9) is fixed, the top block being associated with means for receiving pressure which is communicated via a thrust washer (11) to the block of elastomer material (5).
  3. A method according to claim 2, characterized in that a spacer (12) is disposed between the sheath (4) and the moving block (8) to limit the stroke of the moving block.
  4. A method according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the elastomer material of the block (5) is the material sold under the trademark Eladip and the reference E 420, having a hardness of 81 on the Shore A scale.
