Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a warhead with a first and a second axially one after the other and each having an ignition device shaped charge, the second shaped charge being ignitable after a selectable delay time after the first shaped charge.
With their detonating explosive charge, shaped charge bullets create an energetic elongated spike that can penetrate armor with high strength. As a triggering device for this purpose, a spacer is known from DE-PS 32 43 568, for example, which has an impact contact both at its tip and at the shoulder of its shaped charge jacket. This construction is a satisfactory solution for a storey with only one shaped charge.
From DE-OS 24 60 303 a combined shaped charge projectile is known which contains two shaped charges lying axially one behind the other of approximately the same size. Both shaped charges each have their own ignition device, a time delay device being required to control the second shaped charge when the first shaped charge is triggered. This requires a certain amount of equipment and also an electrical connection from the first to the second ignition device, which also has to be unfavorably installed in the spike formation space of the second shaped charge.
It is therefore the object of the invention to provide a simplified ignition device for a warhead to create with two axially consecutive shaped charges, which avoids the aforementioned disadvantages.
This object is achieved in that the first shaped charge arranged in the spacer of the warhead can be ignited in a manner known per se by means of an impact switch attached in the tip of the spacer, and in that the second shaped charge is independent of the first shaped charge by means of at least one impact contact which is in the Shoulder of the warhead shell is arranged, can be triggered.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the single figure of the drawing and is described in more detail below.
The
The second shaped charge HL2, which, together with its ignition and safety device SE2, lies axially behind the shaped charge HL2, is to be initiated completely independently of the shaped charge HL1, which is generally triggered first, by means of its own impact contact K2. In the example, this impact contact K2 has been implemented as a simplest type of impact switch integrated in the shoulder S of the warhead shell. Other switch designs are not excluded within the scope of this invention.
If a warhead equipped in this way hits a target, with the use of this weapon against active armor being particularly considered here, the contact K1 triggers the shaped charge HL1 via the ignition and safety device SE1. This shaped charge now drills a hole in the armor or, in the case of active armor, triggers it at the point of impact. The spacer A is equipped in such a way that, by means of the barrier BAR, it avoids a reaction of its detonation pressure on the subsequent shaped charge HL2 and keeps it free of the second shaped charge HL2 by breaking off at the predetermined breaking point SB. Because of the embodiment according to the invention, this spike formation space SR is not disturbed by any electrical or other connections.
The second shaped charge HL2 is only triggered when the target touches the second impact contact K2 by the ignition and safety device SE2. The desired time difference between the firings of the two shaped charges is achieved solely by the path difference between the impact contacts K1 and K2. This eliminates the need for time-consuming delay circuits in the ignition and fuse device SE2.
The particular advantage of the warhead according to the invention can be seen in the fact that it requires little effort to ignite its shaped charges and that its effectiveness is increased at the same time.
