Description

The present invention relates to an electrical multipole protection switch comprising for each pole a housing provided with a coupling piece to the neighboring pole or to a juxtaposable additive device. Such coupling is used to transmit from one pole to another, or from one pole to a neighboring device, a mechanical signal for the purpose of tripping and / or signaling in the event of a fault or following an operation. voluntary.

Such known multipolar devices generally require, to ensure coupling between the poles, a part or more coupling parts which must be attached by fitting or insertion on or in transmission parts belonging to the triggering mechanisms of the various poles.

Thus, in patent FR-A-1,596,145, it is proposed to produce a single-pole or multi-pole switch comprising in its single-pole version a housing and a cover and in its multi-pole version a housing, intermediate parts arranged in number equal to the number of desired poles and a cover; each pole has a lever which contributes to the coupling by means of a common through-mounting axis, this axis coupling the various levers. It is therefore necessary to provide axes of different lengths to couple the levers when manufacturing switches with different numbers of poles.

From patent FR-A-2 105 797 and application WO-A-8 404 423, other unipolar or multipolar protective switches are known which can be coupled. However, these switches have the drawback of requiring either a high number of parts to build the housings and the couplings of the unipolar version and of the various multipolar versions, or an excessively large overall dimensions of the housing because of the projections of the parts. coupling.

The object of the invention is in particular to simplify the design and mounting of a protective switch device with couplable poles by using a minimum number of component parts adapted to the different multipolar versions.

It has the other aim, while simplifying the production of such a protective switch device, of giving it a minimum thickness resulting in a small overall width and authorizing, where appropriate, the production of modular versions.

It relates to a multipolar protective switch formed by the assembly of at least two insulating polar cup-shaped housings each having a bottom and an open face, these two housings each containing a switch device comprising a contact opening mechanism including at least one transmission part rotatably mounted inside the housing, by means of two traversing coaxial bearings respectively provided in the two bottoms, the assembly of the two housings being carried out so that the open face of one of the housings either closed by the bottom of the second housing in order to obtain a first closed envelope, of prismatic shape, having a first plane of symmetry, the open face of the second housing being closed, for its part, to obtain a second closed envelope , also prismatic, presenting a second plane of symmetry separated from the first by a so-called polar distance, the transmission part located at the interior of the first housing being coupled to the transmission part located inside the second housing, these two parts extending coaxially to each other, perpendicular to said bottoms.

According to the invention, this switch is characterized in that the transmission parts are identical and each have, at its ends, two respective coupling elements, one male, the other female, which have complementary shapes to allow a cooperation by axial fitting of the male coupling element of one of the two transmission parts in the female coupling element of the other transmission part, a first end of each of these parts further having a conformation allowing it to be rotatably mounted in a corresponding bearing, in that the second end of the part housed in the first housing fits into the first end of the part fitted to the second housing, at the level of the bearing provided in the bottom of this second housing, and in that the total width of the switch housing is greater by an x value than a multiple of the pole step, while the length of each transmission part is greater higher than the polar pitch of a value at most equal to x, so that these transmission parts fit into each other without requiring additional parts and without exceeding the external walls of the switch.

The protective switch can thus be produced with a small number of constituent parts, namely a polar box forming a bowl which contains the trigger mechanism and its combined transmission and coupling part, intermediate polar boxes of a single type forming as many bowls which contain the triggering mechanisms of the successive poles, and a cover for closing the bowl of the last pole. The assembly of the protective switch is facilitated by the stacking of polar cuvettes of low height and substantially identical, easy to store and to handle manually or automatically. In particular, each pole box is equipped with its coupling part before stacking the next pole box, because its coupling part is part of its own mechanism for triggering or opening the contacts.

It is advantageous that the part or the coupling parts do not protrude out of the lateral partitions of the unipolar or respectively multipolar envelope, and that the male coupling element of a first coupling part is housed in a recess in a lateral partition of the envelope, the dimensions of the recess allowing the housing therein of the female coupling element of a second piece of coupling, coaxial and adjacent to the first. The recess is preferably bordered by at least one bearing surface perpendicular to the axis of the coupling parts to receive a corresponding support collar provided on at least one of the coupling parts.

Preferably, in combination with the fact that the stack of coupling parts does not protrude from the switch housing, the total width of the switch housing is expected to be slightly greater than a multiple of the pole pitch and the length of each coupling piece is slightly greater than the pole pitch.

  • La figure 1 représente schématiquement en coupe un interrupteur de protection tripolaire conforme à l'invention ;
  • La figure 2 représente une coupe axiale d'une pièce d'accouplement de l'interrupteur ;
The following description of a non-limiting embodiment with reference to the appended drawings will explain other characteristics and advantages of the invention.
  • Figure 1 shows schematically in section a three-pole protection switch according to the invention;
  • FIG. 2 represents an axial section of a coupling part of the switch;
  • FIG. 3 shows in a little more detail a variant of the switch of FIG. 1.

The switch illustrated in Figure 1 is three-pole; each of the poles P1, P2, P3 includes separable contacts in the event of detection of an electrical fault or in the event of voluntary operation. The triggering and operating mechanisms have not been indicated for the sake of clarity.

The switch housing includes for pole P1 an insulating pole-shaped housing A and for poles P2 and P3 insulating pole housings also in the form of bowl B, the housing of pole P3 being closed by an insulating cover C ; it is understood that there is thus associated with each pole a closed prismatic envelope constituted, on the one hand, by a bowl A or B and, on the other hand, as the case may be by the bottom of an adjacent bowl or by the cover C. The partitions of the bowl bottoms A, B and the partition of the cover C have thicknesses denoted e A , e B , e c respectively . The polar housing B differs slightly from the polar housing A in that it has nesting conformations D, while the outer wall of the housing A is smooth. The switch housing has elements (not shown) of attachment to a support such as a rail E or a perforated plate. The mutual fixing of the elements A, B, C is carried out for example by riveting.

In interdependence with the pole pitch P and the thicknesses e A , e s , e c of the external and internal partitions of the switch, the total width L of the switch housing is provided slightly greater than a multiple of the pole pitch; for example with n poles, L = nP + x.

On a représenté sur la figure 1 les plans Yi-Yi, Y2-Y2, Y3-Y3 de symétrie pour les bornes et les contacts séparables des pôles P1-P3, ces plans étant distants entre eux du pas polaire P.FIG. 1 shows the planes Yi-Yi, Y2-Y2, Y3-Y3 of symmetry for the terminals and the separable contacts of the poles P1-P3, these planes being distant from each other by the polar pitch P.

In each polar envelope is housed a combined transmission and coupling part 10. The parts 10 are identical and arranged coaxially along an axis X-X perpendicular to the planes Y-Y. Each part 10 is part of the trigger mechanism of the respective pole; it is rotatably mounted in a bearing 11 formed in a side wall or partition 12A, 12B, 12C and it has at its first end 13 a male coupling element 14 and at its second end 15 a female coupling element 16 in which s 'fits the male element 14 of the adjacent coupling part.

Each coupling end 10 emerges in a recess 17 formed in the wall 12A, 12B, 12C. The recess 17 is bordered by at least one support surface 18 perpendicular to the axis XX to receive a corresponding support flange 19 of the part 10. Such support surfaces and flanges can be provided at the two ends of Exhibit 10.

The coupling piece 10 has a length 1 which is less than the width L1 (or L2 or L3) of the corresponding polar envelope, but which is greater than the polar pitch P by a value at most equal to x, for example slightly lower by a set j to x. In this way, the coupling pieces 10 of adjacent poles fit together at a depth (x-j) without requiring additional pieces and without protruding from the external walls 12A and 12C to the left and to the right of the switch.

Each part 10 is biased by a fault, magnetic and / or thermal tripping means, to act on a contact carrier 30 pivoting in the Y-Y plane via an intermediate actuating part 31; we see that the part 10 is part of the actuation mechanism of the pole considered.

One of the parts 20 can be called up by means of voluntary opening of the contacts and resetting to act on the contact carrier 30 of the pole concerned. The rotary movement of the part 20 is transmitted to a neighboring part 20. If the centerpiece 20 belongs to the central pole P2, it controls the slave parts 20 of the side poles P1, P3. The parts 20 are identical to each other and they offer in particular the same characteristics of conformation and length.

The recesses 17 associated with the parts 10 and the homologous recesses 32 associated with the parts 20 pass through when they are formed in the internal partitions 12B of the switch. They can be either through (Figure 1) or blind and delimited by knockouts (Figure 3), to allow coupling to an additive juxtaposable to the switch when they are formed in the external partitions 12A, 12C of l 'light switch.

It should be noted that the arrangement adopted for the couplable pole switch requires a minimum number of parts suitable for both the unipolar version and the various multipolar versions: cup A, cup B, cover C, coupling piece 10 for the automatic release and coupling part 20 for voluntary control and reset, without additional connecting parts.

In the case where each pole box has an open front face, it is advantageous to attach to the single-pole or multi-pole box of the switch a cover whose width is substantially that of the stack. This cover can therefore completely cover the open and projecting front part of the poles; moreover, it supports the voluntary opening and resetting means, for example the switch control button.

It is thus possible to pre-assemble the control member on the cover to bring everything together by snapping onto the front of the housing.

The polar pitch is preferably a fraction of a normalized width, this fraction being equal to the ratio of two whole numbers chosen so as to make it possible to obtain, whatever the number of poles, a composition of modular devices whose width will be equal to a multiple of the standard width or, in the least favorable cases, will exceed the said multiple by an amount equal to half the standard width.

Exemple 1Example 1

Figure imgb0001
with a standardized width W = 9 mm, the pole pitch P is preferably chosen equal to 3/2 W, that is to say 13.5 mm and x = L-nP is equal to 4.5 mm. The following range of devices is thus obtained:
Figure imgb0001

Exemple 2Example 2

Figure imgb0002
with the same standardized width W = 9 mm, the pole pitch is preferably chosen to be 5/2 W, that is to say 22.5 mm, and x = L - nP is equal to 4.5 mm . The following range of devices is thus obtained:
Figure imgb0002

It should be noted that in each case the total width of the switch housing is much greater by a standard half-width W / 2 than an appropriate multiple of the pole pitch. The total width of a box with n poles can alternatively be greater by a standard width W than n times the pole pitch.
