Description

It has already been suggested to use two microphones for stereo recordings to use that are close to each other, for example at a distance of about .ao cm, and to give the microphones a directional characteristic that partially differs overlaps.

The figure shows e.g. B. two such microphones 1111 and M2, whose Characteristic is shown by the dashed lines; playback takes place via separate channels 1 and II and via separate loudspeakers L1 and L2. Possibly a two-track recording medium can be interposed therebetween. The ones to be recorded Sound sources are labeled S1 and S2. The stereo-acoustic effect is based here on the fact that of the two speakers a relatively large one, the Intensity difference between the microphones M1 and 1V12 corresponding sound pressure difference what is perceived is what gives the listener a sense of the location of the sound sources conveyed. Such a stereo-acoustic effect can, however, with the described Arrangement can only be achieved in relatively narrow scenes. If z. B. move the sound sources S1 and S2 in the direction of the arrows, or if another sound source is activated at the edge of the stage, that is sufficient Voltage difference in the microphones M1 and M2 does not result in such a sound pressure difference to achieve in the loudspeakers that the listener lies further to the side Sound sources localized where they actually are. About the sense of direction also ensure in such cases, according to the invention on both sides the directional microphones 11l1 and 1Y12 two further room microphones M3 and M4 outside of the space between the two directional microphones, which are transmitted via amplifier V3 and h4 with channel I or II of the adjacent directional microphone in addition Food. Here, the gain can be set so that the for the desired effect required sound pressure difference .in loudspeakers L1 and L2 is created. The microphones 113 and M4 can optionally face the scene to be raised ..
